The Ishvalan War was...fucked, man...

ep 30 is probably my favorite. It seems to show many aspects of the show from a different perspective as well as the relationship between Roy and Riza. She voluntarily entrusted Roy with her father's research, and then had to watch it being used in a terrible way... That must have been devastating

Just a little bit about Dr. Knox that I want to share from the manga. He also told Al, May, and Lan Fan the Ishval story from his perspective as a doctor. He met Dr. Marcoh during the war. Dr. Marcoh was ordered to create the Philosopher’s Stone, while Dr. Knox was tasked with gathering data on the effects of burns and pain on humans. He even worked with Roy at the time. They talked about how there was still a doctor couple out in the field treating Ishvalans. Dr. Marcoh said they were fools, calling it a suicidal act. But Dr. Knox said, on one hand, you have doctors who follow orders to kill, and on the other hand, there’s the Rockbell couple, who stayed with the powerless and chose to save lives. Then he asked Dr. Marcoh, “I’m a doctor—so why am I killing people?” Because of that, Dr. Knox started feeling he had no right to treat living patients, and he became a pathologist after the war. He also developed PTSD, and once attacked his wife in his sleep — that’s why they got divorced.

Yeah I really like how the show depicts just how brutal the war/genocide really was, and how they don’t shy away from showing how fucked it was Really love Hawkeye’s dynamic with Ed, he obviously really respects her and I love how she cares about him but doesn’t treat him like just bc he’s a child, he should be “babied” in a sense I love how deep Hawkeye and Mustang’s relationship goes too — they’re so interesting as characters and as a duo as well And yessirrrr that moment of Ling taking back control goes crazy, I love the two-people-in-one-body venom type of trope FR fr

Totally agree Pandi! Such a good episode overall and really makes me look forward to how this is all going to wrap up even though we have a while left before we get there haha. Really good points on Riza too :(
