Hey guys! So this is a mixed update/poll post, because whilst I want to drop my plans on you, I also like to see your feedback!

Recently, I'd explained that as of late, dramas over here have felt a little difficult for me to follow through with.

Thankfully, I've been able to identify that part of this may be because I have been putting way too much pressure on myself to blindly commit to things when I literally never do that.

What do I mean?

Well, I'm actually the type of person who watches a lot at once (when I'm not reacting especially), and so I like to try stuff out. I'll often sample a bit of this and a bit of that to see what I like, and then keep watching the stuff I like and drop what I don't. I think that's actually a pretty common and normal thing to do.

What I used to do over here, though, was actually the complete opposite. For a long time, I felt as though I needed to create a structured watchlist and advertise it, and that before putting anything on that watchlist, I needed to be either ABSOLUTELY SURE about a show (which restricted what I was willing to explore), or I had to just suck it up and commit to something and hope for the best โ€“ no take-sies back-sies.

If I added something to the watchlist but wound up not liking it, it was a disaster for me, because expectations would have been created for you guys and me, and if I didn't want to follow through anymore, it'd only end in disappointment for all of us. I hated that!

So!

I've been away from dramas for long enough now and assessed my options (I've literally just been watching a ton of stuff on my own), and I've come up with a solution.

For now, at least, I'm just going to sample the first episodes of a bunch of different dramas that I've wanted to check out, and see how I like them!

Once I've seen a little bit, I'll either continue with that show, or know it's not for me and say, "Ok, guys, well, I guess we're not watching this one!"

I think this is much better than dropping a show halfway through, or pushing through to just see the end of it for the sake of it. No one benefits from that!

For those dramas in particular (unless it was one I was already interested in from the get-go), the episode 1 reactions will be labelled as "PILOT TEST". If we have a few dramas that we like, then those will be the priorities that I move forward with. Not all at once, of course (especially if there are like 5 lmao), but at least I'll have had my fun sampling a wide variety that I've been curious about, and I'll also be able to establish a solid watchlist for the near future.

So all that said, how does the poll come into this?

What I'd like to know is:

Which of the following K-dramas would you like to see sampled over here?

I'm open to other recommendations down in the comments below, and the poll is multiple choice, so vote for however many you'd like!

The poll itself is my immediate list of dramas I've been thinking of for ages, so they're all ones that I want to sample anyway. I'd just love to see which ones you guys are interested in!

Thanks in advance for all the feedback, and I'll see you for some more dramas soon!

I know this is about K-dramas but I was wondering if you are also planning on watching more C-dramas after Pursuit of Jade?

LKTV (Lok)

Thanks so much for asking Snoep! I think itโ€™s a liiiiittle too early for me to be able to tell as of yet, but Iโ€™ll be open to it depending on how Pursuit of Jade goes ๐Ÿ˜Š

LKTV (Lok)

Jhuz be honestโ€ฆDID FIMMIESTAN PAY YOU OFF? ๐Ÿง๐Ÿคจ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ‘€ Iโ€™m joking bro, Iโ€™m so keen to check it out with yโ€™all!

Snow

Understandable! Hopefully you will enjoy c-dramas, there are so many amazing c-dramas. Hope you are enjoying Pursuit of Jade so far!!

Recommendations I just remembered that I dearly love... I don't know if you would be interested, but here: My Liberation Notes and Misaeng... they're both slice of life and some of my favorite dramas of all time. Misaeng is old now and I might actually love My Liberation Notes more, so there. I feel like you would have tons to say about Korean society while watching either of those.

Iโ€˜d like to recommend โ€žThe Tale of Lady Okโ€œ for something outside of the list. One of my favorite dramas in recent years (the lead actress was in The Glory, she is phenomenal) And ofc I had to vote for Tomorrow as well ๐Ÿ˜… But honestly Iโ€˜m super excited for any pilot test episodes no matter the show, I think thatโ€™s a great approach~

rec's incoming as requested Lok. love between fairy and devil. cafe minamdang, memories of the alhambra, persona (staring IU), hellbound, Abyss (korean drama), A Korean odyssey, Sisyphus, kill me love me, the story of the pearl girl. just realized how many i posted, i will see myself out now LOL. but they all worth the watch

Lola

If you find the time, Weak Hero Class. The cast is young but they deliver BIG time. Only 8 episodes (for Class 1), shorter runtime (approx. 40 minutes per ep) and plenty food for thought. Mr. Sunshine is a must watch, but it will run your soul through a meat grinder (just a heads up). Oh and just so you know, episode 1 there functions like a prologue of sorts, so you might consider giving it 2 eps before you decide. And if you have not seen it, I'd really suggest putting 2521 in there somewhere. It's really worth a watch, whether on your own or reacting to it. ๐Ÿค“

Glass Heart isn't getting the votes, but it's a ton of fun, especially for people who like rock music. Everyone should give it a try. Is it a little melodramatic? It is. Jdramas usually are. But trust me: the journey is worth it and the music is legit good. The actors practiced a lot to be able to credibly pull of performances, and things like the studio set ups actually make sense with gear producers would actually use (not always true of dramas).

Venus

you should start wtaching cdramas. when i need a break from kdramas thats what i watch

Lani S

I second these 3 suggestions!
