My guess is Changyu took Sui hostage and threatened to kill him if they didn't let them take him. That's the only thing that would make sense. I'm so excited for the next one. It will be epic!!!

I think at this point, Xie Zheng is realizing that his lies are becoming unsustainable. He needs to come out clean to Changyu or she will wreck havock in their strategies. Also my logical brain shuts off when I watch this show. So many shiny pretty people!

Zhang Ling He likes to improvise or make suggestions, and the director utilized many of his ideas. In one of the BTS, he suggested that when he was staring at her before kissing her in this scene, a couple of strands of her hair be caressing his face. The tangerine kiss remark was also his suggestion: "Would you like a taste now?" and propping herself on her arms before the kiss to be more comfortable. Even in the scene with the ex, he stopped her from just kissing him to grabbing his head and dramatically pulling it down for her kiss, therefore making him closer when he returned it. To name a few.

New member here — rewatching PoJ through your reactions has been so fun! My guess is the cavalry let her take Sui because they just couldn't risk hurting her in the inevitable scuffle of trying to stop her. She doesn't know that she's the Marchioness, but from the cavalry's perspective: their boss is normally very level-headed ... until Changyu is involved. Their only firsthand knowledge of her is that she's someone Zheng breaks his own rules for 100% of the time, purely because he's incapable of denying her anything. With that in mind, they probably suspect Yan Zheng would (irrationally) prefer to lose Sui than risk Changyu being injured by his own guards.

You can check out the novel online if you're looking for more of the backstory and details. 🤗 It is challenging to fit all the plot twists into 40 episodes, and sometimes viewers expect a lot at once. 😅
