Yo did Tanaka fumble?

The amount of times I’ve heard "I’m not even gonna try to pronounce that" when a new teacher was reading my name. Like, the least you could do is try 😓

Also, if you’re interested, Aran (Trayvon)’s name is meant to be Alan, but it’s written as Aran because in Japanese they don’t differentiate between "r" and "l" sounds.

It’s fine to watch this op whenever

This is my personal favourite season, and this match is my personal favourite in the anime. But, I wanted to give a little warning/disclaimer before you get to episode 15 (unless you’ve already watched it); ep15 is the episode most affected by COVID. A lot more of the animation in that episode was outsourced to animators who weren’t working for the regular animation studio. So, you may notice some irregularities with the animation and character models

wahh i can’t watch this yet but im sooo excited!! this match is also one of my favs. i know some stuff got left out of course but it also seems the most complete? if that makes sense. i forgot what these two episodes covered specifically so im going based of virgil’s comments n y’all’s tanaka comment in the description.

finally getting around to watching this!! i'm not done yet but i feel like i'll forget later so i'll comment this now. match talk aside, hearing yall talk about tanaka n kiyoko is frustrating LOL not in a bad way. and not as a manga reader either cause that's a whole other thing. however, in regards to knowing when to give up when someone doesnt seem to like you back, personally i think tanaka "rejecting" kanoka made sense. tanaka is sooo devoted, it wouldnt make sense for him to suddenly be interested in kanoka just because she showed interest in him. wouldnt be fair to her either i think. even when there's other girls around (ex. training camp) tanaka still only has eyes for kiyoko. if he acknowledges the other girls, its him being happy that kiyoko is interacting with them and smiling. even if kanoka n him were childhood friends, kanoka was still the one who remembered him/his actions more than tanaka did with her. i wasnt surprised the first time i saw his rejection.

i know its not that deep lol idk how my comment became so long. i just think tanaka is a really well written character! they all are of course but that scene was soooo in character imo.

Every reactor I've watched has had the same reaction to Tanaka rejecting Kanoka. They think he fumbled and clown him for it lol. I don't get it though. Unrequited crushes happen all the time. Have people never had a crush on someone that didn't like them? Or you could tell someone liked you but you didn't feel the same? Many people will realize it and accept the attention, and some will even lean into the attention and end up leading people on sometimes purposefully just because they like and want attention. Tanaka's not like that at all. I think a lot of it is because Tanaka has been talking about girls since season 1 and wanting a girlfriend to cheer for him so people think he would jump at the first girl that comes along. You can't always help who you like or who you don't or who you fall in love with so I don't think it's toxic to not be able to let go of a crush on a person you see and spend a good deal of time around almost every day. Tanaka is the definition of a guy and a girl can be just friends because he looked at Kanoka as someone who was great at volleyball that he needed to catch up to instead of just looking at her like a girl he could easily get with. Much respect to Tanaka for not settling for a girl he doesn't like that way just because he has a shot with her. On another note, one of the dopest things that people rarely comment on is Kageyama's no look rebound. I have to rewind it every time because it goes so fast but it's so cold.
