The english isn’t the reason but it is a factor. He is the leader because the group was made around him. Some of the boys had to audition using Rm’s beats and songs. Later as the group was forming they saw that he is the one that can lead. You should watch MASTERMINDS BEHIND BTS BY BIRACITY to really understand Rm’s role in bts forming!!!

Aww, that was a bit sad 😭 Such a short episode for Namjoon. Since each episode isn’t that long anyway, I was hoping they could’ve done two episodes in one reaction, especially since it’s his birthday. 🥹💜 I read there’s another episode for him tomorrow as well, but maybe we could get a few more reactions for both Namjoon and JK as a little birthday present? My favourite angry leader moment is when JK had his arms around Tae. The staff off camera signalled for them to separate and they looked so sad. RM’s glare at the staff could have cut glass 😆 our leader pushed the maknae’s back together and let the staff know who’s boss! It was beautiful to see him protect them.

I agree, is not the reason and it wasn't a factor before expanding outside SK when this is a 100% korean boy band. His intelligence was the factor, he was a baby when they named him the leader. He was in high school.

When you talk about you needing to mature, remember that RM was only 18 when BTS debuted (younger when he started at BigHit). While still being a kid himself and a goofy one at times he knew when to lock in he knew his responsibility to not only himself, but to the members and the company. I think you’re forgetting a little bit about their beginnings. The pressure was enormous to debut, make it to 100 days, make another album, etc.

He is a leader bc he handle a lot of the deals and contract negotiation for the team. Although the other boys are more involved & have their solo careers, RM has always been the main one in the meetings. He writes majority of their music so he is the main one who needs to know deadlines and distribution deals. He also leads in the ways that you see in this video. He is so important to the machine that is BTS. And RM could speak English when BTS became a group. So that did contribute bc he could communicate to important ppl in the music industry.

He said it can have many different meanings, and used "Real Me" as an example in the spur of the moment during an interview. Also, Army please correct me if I am wrong, but I don't recall him setting this in stone as the official meaning of RM...

So just remember, guys, our RM learned to speak English before he became a member of BTS. While I do not think that was the primary reason, it was a factor and I do think it helped. RM is so intelligent and articulate, but you also have to remember he was 15 or 16 years old when he was found by Big Hit and Bang PD. He was essentially a baby and had to take on the responsibility of being the leader of a band. Of course the guys all pitched in and helped out, especially with JK being the youngest and essentially a baby, so they had to look out for him and each other. I have the deepest respect for Namjoonie🥺💜🙇🏽‍♀️ HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO OUR KIM NAMJOON🎂🥳🎉🎊🤴🏻💝

As well as they all learn a little English in Korea at elementary school level I think, RM was learning english in NZ at 12 for about three months, so with his IQ he knew English way before BTS. This helped him be the leader he is but he also has a maturity that the younger ones didn't have at the time so he's able to keep them in line.

I have to add about the English, they weren’t supposed to become a permanent fixture in America so English was a fun extra, but it was just an extra factor. We do have Bang PD on record saying that no matter what he had to give Namjoon a group to lead bc he was blown away by Namjoon’s writing, from a literal kid.
