Bland list fodder for sure. I guess gorgeous vistas only count for so much.

Jesse Bodie

i agree with these critiques and yet I still loved GoY. I know the plot wasn't anything groundbreaking but it was fun pulpy samurai revenge cinema and I enjoyed the ride.

Funny how Yahtzee seems to hate 98% of the games that everyone else at Second Wind loves. Theres this, Kingdom Come, and a few others. Not to mention these are also games that seem like they're all strong GOTY contenders that are nearly loved by everyone who plays them. I know he's not, but it certainly feels like he's being deliberately contrarian.

Or maybe the most popular games are generally bland schlock, like how the top of music charts is crap that sounds like chat gpt music

SCP 3887B

That's completely fair, and while I pointed this out, I wasn't judging his opinion. If I was that bothed by it, then I wouldn't watch, lol.

I'm very happy to see Walrus on a Rollercoaster make a cameo

For comedic purposes Yahtzee can be quite contrarian. He is good to avoid that in his reviews though. He has always been careful to weigh his reviews in as honest a manner possible and has a respectable method to his madness. I think he differs from the rest of the team because he has played so very many games with the samey feel that it is both a pet peeve and ultimately a waste of time for him. This could be why he leans toward more unconventional game play design with creative permutations of the conventional. It's just more useful to him overall and he's bored of the same old same old as it were.
