I like when Yahtz likes things. c:

Ralph Wiggum

absolutely insane to suggest sekiro is the "grandfather" of parry in hack and slash, when MGR came out years before sekiro and was the start of "yellow = parry, red = dodge".

Clancy Bundy

One thing that drove me nuts in Onimusha (and Wolverine, Control Resonant, etc…) was: IMPORTANT story details being bandied about during intense fights. I think Spider-Man was the first time I personally clocked it. I understand the impulse, but I’m kinda occupied everyone! I’m missing what’s being screamed!

Jack

It has been a pretty good year for games (in terms of releases not business, Jesus Christ…) Ace Combat 8 was fantastic as well. Give that a shot if you haven’t.

Simeon

i think he meant it more in the sense that sekiro started the current trend of games having parry mechanics, not that it was the first one to ever do it. it's similar to how skrillex isn't the first person to make dubstep or even the first to make *that* particular type of dubstep but he was absolutely the person who's most responsible for dubstep getting big in the 2010's

Glad to have KC on this one, I knew he was really digging this game. Great converstation.

Visuals and appropriate action & sets really do help one enjoy a game - especially a game set in a specific region or time.

Also - you both influence me. ^_^

Ralph Wiggum

How, exactly, could it have started a trend that demonstrably started before it existed?

Imran K

I hope Yahtzee gets around to playing Dressmaker for a Fully Ramb episode!

Matt Connellan

The phenomenon started before it existed, not the trend. Revengeance was not a popular game at the time. Nobody was copying that shiz.

Order of the Sinking Star is probably my game of the year
