What a DEBUT!

This is some of the best vocal production I've ever heard, he put his foot in it. It gave all his songs, the edge that's usually missing when kpop artists try these genres. He HAS CLEARLY studied or at least his A&R knew what to pick as well.

Like I say in the reaction, it's amazing that though he has a unique tone, you don't feel like beaten over your head throughout the album he managed to give you a range of vocal performances throughout you never feel like he's droning on and one.

I didn’t expect anything less from Haechan but this debut is still SO impressive! Even the few songs that weren’t sonically my cup of tea, I can appreciate because of how much he diversified his tone, melodies, diction, and VOCAL LAYERING on top of his immense vocal talent of course. It just keeps you listening to try to catch everything in the background!!! sigh — NCT and their members have been putting out such quality music the last couple years… (jaehyun we miss you, i’m still not over Roses lol🌹 💛) Always love hearing your takes, Micah!!

The thing I appreciated the most throughout this album was how you can actually tell the amount of time and effort that was put into every single song - none of them left me feeling like it was a draft of a song they didn't get to, they all felt thought out and executed brilliantly. And i totally agree, the range is crazy cause the amount of different things he can do with his voice is just masterful - he knows himself back to front and in detail. I feel like sometimes in kpop, i'm so used to listening to groups that i can hear a solo and be like... it does sounds like it's missing something, but with this album its not like that at all. It feels full and big, adlibs galore (thank god!), full length songs, loved it!

Currently in Seoul (for Haechan’s debut & for rest) so sacrificing my sleep because I just had to see your reaction. I knew you’d really appreciate the different colours he brought. Things have been so dreary for me in terms of kpop but Haechan has rejuvenated me. His musical intelligence is miles ahead of his peers. He’s a real student of rnb but rather than be copycat, he’s used his knowledge to create exciting and refreshing sounds. This album is special 🥹 proud of him. Angelina x

I just love when SM artists tap into their R&B roots. I can definitely hear the musiq soulchild influence. This album also reminds me of how I felt with Baekhyuns first album eventhough they have different overall vibes. I may not be in love with all the songs but the songs I do like end up in my recurring playlist for months.

Love love love how as a genuine music listener and enjoyer, you can really appreciate different genres and styles that you aren't particularly a fan of. Cause if a song is good..it's good! You are so right about Haechan's tone being so...unique and fresh but he doesn't beat you with it. Haechan knows his pocket vocally which is a blessing because if he wasn't so controlled oh LORD, he would have ran us down with the crazy runs LMFAO. I'm so happy he studied and did this project justice and gave it the due diligence that was needed. Clearly, this is HIS baby and he put so much love and care into it! This is up there as one of my fav solos now since I do love neosoul and this album gave me baekhyun and jonghyun's first two projects as well. I love when SM does neosoul and r&b because they do it soooo well! Loved your reaction in general, especially to the production and vocal and chord changes in the songs!

something about haechan’s voice is that it’s so refreshing in the sea of common vocal tones that the best way i could describe his voice is like having your first sip of water after a night out! you can just tell that he knows his voice & knows how to control and portray it in a way that it’s not in your face. loved your reaction and always appreciate your deep insight!! i feel like you would love his behind the scene of recording the songs, i found it interesting hearing how he wanted to portray himself in the songs that i heard them in a different way after watching that!

I loved watching the behind the scenes and seeing the producers push him to do different things with his vocals to make sure he was delivering something different across the tracks and different to what we get in nct songs. It's still so surreal to me that we finally have a full body of work of just haechan vocals. I'm just impressed he managed to put together such a good album while touring and in the midst of group schedules.

Apparently Camera Lights was a song Jaehyun rejected during the production of J and Haechan picked it up thinking it's crazy for Jaehyun to turn down such a good song lol
