Fucking hell man. Mamma Mia is such a gimmicky release they deserve SOOOOOO much better man. They did not going through all that for a song like that.

The lazy double time ending, also a song that could've been MEOVV's but would benefit from their heavier deeper voices maybe?

They have so much star quality but their songs aren't giving us ANY EMOTIONAL outlook or perspective. Just empty, shallow phrases.

Wake one. do something!!!

I hope this song tanks so they readjust quickly.

As expected from you haha. So here is my ranking of the songs from most favourite to least favourite: 1. Mamma Mia 2. Supercrush 3. In the rain 4. Racecar For the title I have written a long-ass defense on your Youtube channel so I won't repeat it here. The b-sides are generally more melodically pleasing than the title, but they're not ground-breaking enough to me. All the b-sides have the touch of VVN and I would say she's still playing safe with a sound and structure that izna's fans would mostly love. At least Mamma Mia has a little taste of a riskiness accompanied with good beats, hook and pre-chorus. "In the rain" has quite a good addition of saxophone in the end but they did a disappointing fadeout lol. To be honest this EP feels kinda rushed, I'm not sure, maybe because of short preparation time after Beep's promotion or because of Ji-yoon's eventual departure that stirred up their original plan with these songs. One thing for sure is that the Fancon in November was planned for a long time, before Ji-yoon's issue occurs I believe, so the 2nd EP is a must to fill the setlist. This EP feels like they have to meet the KPI set by CJ Ent so it has good ingredients, but it's not cooked properly.

One thing I totally agree with you: the girls should stop singing with vocal fry and the producers should also stop making them do so. Their voices are beautiful enough. But I guess it's part of their growth process in this industry.

We don’t call them synchronizna and synchroniznation for nothing! I doubt we’ll ever get a song about jiyoon when we don’t have much info about why she ever left. Maybe one day if the girls ever get to make their own music or just write some lyrics for the sings or something we could. I really can’t be too mad about the title as I’ve been needing them to hot more intense choreo as beep was fun but nothing crazy and sign was just a synchronisation thing more than wow performance like mamma Mia. Also knowing that it was mainly the 24 and teddy that gave us drip I was really hoping the song would be drip 2.0… how long are they going to make me wait🫩

Tbh they have the same issue as all the new generation Mnet groups and it’s that they collect trainees for a project they spend months preparing yet the concepts and songs are picked out of a hat. There’s no fixed concept anymore for these groups because they no longer get unconditional GP support at debut and the K-pop market is oversaturated now so they actually have to study the market and COMPETE in it. They didn’t have to do all that back in the day. An Mnet debut was a golden ticket for success no matter what your group would release. Which is why today, people still assume Mnet can compete with the big 4… and back in the day, absolutely, because people in Korea WATCHED the shows. Didn’t matter what songs came out after, they were streaming. But now with trends and social media (esp tiktok) leading what’s popular it’s not that simple anymore. Unlike the big 4, Mnet don’t spend years going through trainees, doing market research and adjusting concepts according to what’s trending before there’s even a debut. You can tell they had a VISION for izna at the start but their debut didn’t do too well so they switched it up with sign and beep which got them some attention but still not enough to really make a mark in the industry so they switched back to their initial girl crush concept. And they will continue to do that until they either hit big or lose popularity. Then they’ll just debut another gg and the cycle repeats. Like I truly believe the k-pop industry has moved past the need for survival show groups and with no fault of the groups themselves but because the concept of it was invented to create instant success stories. And boost your career for a LATER debut (ex. Le sserafim/IVE). Now you got them struggling to even release ONE song everyone objectively likes because the standards are different but the teams behind the groups aren’t. The industry is too cutthroat to waste ppl’s time like this when they could simply debut in a well thought out group, with a concept curated to the members and under a team who actually knows what they’re doing. 🤷🏽‍♀️ Yeah, this is my little rant cuz I have major beef with W1/Mnet and how terrible they are at managing idols.

I really am sad that they aren’t getting unique production every song has a beautiful bridge but teddy even took that away he already keeps giving us these “nails on a Chalkboard” ahh chorus the only one that was ok was Sign and that was a sign to stop😭😭😭

Very insightful. I love a good rant lol. I agree that we've passed the point where we need survival show groups. At this point in time, survival groups have just as likely a chance of success or failure as a group from a non-big 4 company.

Ohhh i love this comment! Agreed with Ash, very insightful and I also have been thinking we are past survival shows for a minute. The fact the songs are charting post debut is really crazy. Unless they really try not to compete with the industry and really focus on concepts and high quality music but then that'll be too much of a budget i guess lol

Exactly! The industry has changed too much to be cutting corners but they don’t wanna get that. Like what can I get from IZNA that a group from SM, Hybe, JYP, starship, etc. can’t do better? That’s what they should focus on. I swear even some nugu companies have better creative directors and A&R’s than wakeone.
