In today’s episode, I explore a feeling I can’t quite ignore lately, that K-pop may already be shifting into a new generation without officially calling it one.

Newer groups feel noticeably different from older idol groups: less polished, less rigid, more casual and conversational. From freer choreography and unconventional promotion styles to more relaxed content and lyrical direction, it feels like the industry is quietly moving away from the hyper-produced image that defined previous generations.

I also discuss the hidden cost and politics behind music shows after watching a CEO explain just how demanding and expensive the system has become and why that pressure might be pushing K-pop toward a completely different kind of idol culture

So my comment is in regards to the latter discussion of hidden costs. I think I kind of knew there was a cost but didn’t realize how much until I heard about it from a group I’ve been following: QWER. I really like their story and it’s made me stray away from the more popular and conventional groups out there right now. They won all three major music shows without making an appearance. And their popularity has grown a lot in the few years they have been around. Part of me wonders if these big companies noticed how a small company group dominated for a couple of weeks and never made an appearance on any of these shows.

Ohhhh wow!! Love that for them

I didn’t know how to comment on Spotify, so I came back here 😭 But I feel like LNGSHOT’s discography and vocals have my expectations for MVG so high that I’ll be so disappointed if they aren’t on the same level, even though that probably won’t be the case. Even seeing how much freedom LNGSHOT has, releasing basically anything they want, I wonder how it’ll be with the girls, because Jay definitely won’t be able to be around them as much since they’re young girls. So I’m really curious to see that dynamic compared to how much he’s putting into LNGSHOT right now, because he’s doing A LOT for them right now.
