Casual Nerd Reactions

Perfect! I just caught up so I wouldn't have to wait to see this one 😅

Rachel Milliken

Yes the Christmas special is necessary. They do loads of Christmas specials and they are amazing

Quiver

Maybe the tradition for doctor who should be to bake a christmas treat every christmas special? because they do them every year, though in the recent years I think they did new years day instead

Lais

that is such a canon event to every new whovian, and it's so priceless to watch it for the first time... it's funny that your reactions in the last scene was exactly like rose's, right down to the eyebrows lol darcie i just wanted to say that you were fantastic, absolutely fantastic... and you know what??? so was this 1st season!!! yay

James B.

There are some arguments about it, but my favorite theory is that Doozy is based on the Duesenberg, an expensive car from the '20s (the other 20s). I guess their fans would say something like "Is it a good car? It's a Duesy!"

Rae

Ah yes. "Happy" Friday...

Rae

So sad we only got one season with the Ninth Doctor, but the Tenth Doctor is a huuuuge fan favorite. I love David Tennant's portrayal of the Doctor.

monulito

your reactions and comments are precious!!!! lmao

Logan

is it crazy that this was Billie Pipers first major acting gig? The scene with Rose telling Jackie she met her dad is arguably my favourite in the entire show, it’s just so perfectly acted, Jackie trying to process that the Doctor has infiltrated some of the most pivotal moments of her life and changed events without her ever knowing and the score from Father’s Day playing is gut wrenching 🥲.. Also we all mourn our favourite doctors and then get re-attached all over again, it’s part of the process ! I think you’ll love David Tennant :)

monulito

Answering to your question, the christmas specials are like the episode zero of the next series

Em

Enjoyed this a lot, no notes apart from you need to watch the lil children in need special in the middle! Baking wise, it would be cute to do it on the special episodes but also the if its to ease the tears and feels then you'll likely need them for the finales :')

Ray D

It’s funny how blind you came into this series that you didn’t even know that regeneration for the doctor was a thing.

Shaun Houghton

So, you've now lost your regeneration virginity, a good thing you can mark the occasion by enjoying your ball sack.

I'm making my way through the Buffy/Angel/ And Now Profit!! (can't believe Darcie actually covered this minor classic) era, but I've allowed myself to jump ahead and keep current with Who because I really needed to see the reaction to this episode in particular. I'm always so jealous of newbies watching decades after the fact, because watching when it airs it feels like every major thing is announced months in advance by the beeb so staying spoiler free is impossible

SeeJay

The fact that you didn't know about regeneration is everything. Please be careful because this is where spoiler season hits (and doesn't stop even until the most current episode in 4 days).

Chris Padwick

Shocking and sad, isn't it? For a bit better explanation about WTF just happened and a nice intro to David Tennant's time in the Tardis, watch a minisode that was broadcast a few months before the Xmas ep went out in 2005. It's called 'Born Again' is on YouTube and features the Doctor and Rose on the Tardis just before the Christmas Invasion (it really does help and it's about 15 minutes). Happy Xmas! Oh, btw, David Tennant becomes the 10th - yes 10th - Doctor. And very good is his too.

What a reaction! Hehe, I love how little you know of this show, it's great viewing! Also, it's a big shock, but you'll love David Tennant as the next Doctor (10th, since the very beginning of the show), he's amazing

Daniel McGuinness

Can’t believe we got here 😭 been so long since I’ve revisited Ecclestons season it genuinely felt so refreshing and interesting to go back and see what the Doctor was like 🥹

AmyWonderland92

Just a gentle reminder to all of you! Comments like "Oooh this ep is good!" "This one's a big one" "Grab the tissues!" etc! ALL COUNT AS SPOILERS!

John

Only catching up on this now but absolutely love how much you're enjoying Doctor Who. Rose telling her Mam she was the blond girl holding her father's hand almost took me out originally.

David Cann

The intensity of this episode is just incredible... it was so wonderful to see you just as captivated by it 20 years later as we were on broadcast! The sense of scale & peril & tension & emotion... and I love how Jack has entered your affections so strongly in such a short period of time, he is SO badass in this finale. Plus not knowing that a certain thing was coming..! It's a joy to experience this with you.

FRiEdCPU

Just finished this season, loving your reaction, really wish you had started watching Torchwood alongside Doctor Who for the cross over episodes in the future though, and you seem to like Jack a lot, hope you watch Torchwood in the future :)
