You're right. Boyd is basically a watcher. It never dawned on me before. Whedon really locked into a formula: strong female lead (Buffy, Echo, River), strong male lead watching over her (Giles, Boyd, Simon).

Can't wait to watch this with you, Darcie! I'll be honest, I thought I was just going to watch it with you weekly. Well, I started the show and couldn't stop. I'm at the end of season 1. Kind of hate it since there are only two seasons. But it hooks you in. I don't want to spoil what kind of emotions I'm having for you. I have no reason I didn't watch this show until now (especially with me being such an Eliza fan) except laziness. I'm just happy you finally pushed me to start doing it!

Poor Darcie, this show does definitely test your brain power and makes you question who to trust. It will be ok. The fact is that most of the main characters are different degrees of gray. Some like Boyd (the handler) are kind and protective. Others like Topher (Marty) are ignorant of the harm of their business and then there is Dominic (the head of security aka tiny glasses guy) who is just an A-hole. None of them think of themselves as the bad guys. You know there is a bit of a mystery element to the show. Perhaps if it gets difficult to keep track you can bring back the white board from VM and use it to help follow along with the clues to Caroline and Alpha and how it's all connected.

I felt like you early on the first time I watched. With Echo being a different character every week I felt like there wasn’t someone for me to grasp on to and get to know as my main rooting interest but oh boy. Without spoiling it, this show takes so many turns and has so many ideas it explores. It’s kind of starting off more episodic with only some background mysteries like Alpha, but once it starts going, it doesn’t let up

I wonder if this show stemmed from or maybe joss was testing out but when Faith and Buffy switched bodies. How the actresses were so good at switching up and maybe this show is the bigger body switch lol lol

I'm so happy you're enjoying the show! I was waiting for your reaction with that very last scene and you did not disappoint!! I felt almost exactly as you did my first watch. Even though I know this series so well it's always so captivating on every rewatch.

Alpha is named for the NATO alphabet letter A. Echo, Sierra, and Victor are all letters as well. In that sense, the "dolls" don't necessarily even have names, they just have letter designations that resemble names. (NATO Alphabet = Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Delta, Echo, Foxtrot, Golf, Hotel, India, Juliet, Kilo, Lima, Mike, November, Oscar, Papa, Quebec, Romeo, Sierra, Tango, Uniform, Victor, Whiskey, X-ray, Yankee, Zulu)
