Golf is fun, and I agree, sometimes drivers are just hard to use! I have an old 3w that is my go to if anything goes wrong.

The grandparents storyline is my favorite of the whole show honestly. Particularly how Lorelai handles it. Very multifaceted and interesting. I just know she gets ptsd looking at that life lol. I also enjoy that this show doesn’t follow stereotypical sitcom plots. The wedding was used to show Lorelai’s confidence and work ethic as a businesswoman rather than a “bad wedding” episode.

A bit of a slower episode in terms of plot but so interesting to kind of dive into the psyche of Lorelai and her relationship with her parents growing up. As somebody who grew up with a sour relationship with my father, I relate to Lorelai here I think the strongest part about this show is analyzing these characters and spotlighting how their trauma/upbringing made them not only become the people they are today but how it bleeds into the relationships they have and how they view them Very much looking forward to more Gilmore Girls!

I appreciate that we see some softness here from Richard that we haven't yet up to this point. Not so much though for Emily. The glee she takes in getting "the better" of Lorelei makes me really not care for. I think some of that is onscreen as well as it's not entirely played for laughs. No Lane this episode which is a bit of bummer & very little Luke. Drella & her harp are back. I didn't notice if anybody mentioned yet that the actress, Alex Borstein played Sookie in the unaired pilot. It's nice to see Lorelei in her element. She's fantastic at her job & knows how to handle any situation. It makes Emily's barbs about "her motel" sting that much more & makes Lorelei's response to them feel reasonable. She's built a life for herself outside of their reach with a job she should be proud especially giving her command of it.

I don't golf, but if I did, I would definitely want to golf the Darcie Way. I also totally get what you mean about steam rooms- very claustrophobic. I really enjoyed this episode and the way it delved into the complicated relationships between mothers (and fathers) and daughters. It was very nuanced and well done. "We Are Family", indeed.

You remarked about this at the end, but at the beginning when you were predicting a wedding disaster I thought to myself "This is really not that kind of show" -- and I feel like that is what makes GG so unique! There are more specific examples in future episodes that come to mind that I feel so strongly contrast Gilmore Girls against other "teen drama" or "family drama" type shows, but as you can tell already the show leans toward grounded plot lines and doesn't tend to default to "A beautiful wedding turns into a tragic disaster" punchlines. The show is definitely a well-loved Comfort Show for a reason!
