Doctor Who is a tv show that is ALWAYS changing (of course, I mean, it couldnt be the same as it was in the 60s right?), you learn to evolve and to adapt by letting go of what was, however incredible it may have been, and to be open to whatever comes next, because it might be even better. This teaching literally saved my life.

PS: Adeola, Martha's cousin, is played by the same actress (Freema Agyeman) on Army of Ghosts. She is that Torchwood employee that had a secret relationship with her colleague.

I think one of my least favorite things some shows do is they “kill off” an important character and kinda just have characters never bring it up. Which isn’t realistic at all so I always will appreciate the Doctor bringing up Rose. That said Martha!!!!! Was waiting for you to meet her! I really look forward to you seeing what they do with her this season, I love her lots. Also fun fact her actress was in the season 2 finale. She played the cousin she talked about. She was the one who was dating that guy but got turned into a cyberman in that construction area.

I will admit first time around 14/15 year old me was still grieving Rose and didn't warm to Martha! until like midway through? I was stubborn! Love Freema though and the more I watch, the more I love her intro ep!

It's our girl Martha! Fun first episode, vaguely remember being horrified he'd kiss someone who wasn't Rose :')

I forgot it was Doctor Who day omg! The JUDOON! My favourite space cops 💛 still included in acab tho It’s hard to explain but Series 3 really felt like such a leap forward for me. I don’t mean in terms of quality, but like, we’ve seen the Doctor change his face but he wa still with Rose, so it’s essentially been the same duo the whole time and it felt cosy. NOW we’ve got a new companion (love you, Martha 🥹), a fresh start, and it’s strange seeing the Doctor without Rose. but it just shows that we just gotta keep truckin forward. And it’s always fun seeing a companions reaction to the Tardis Personally there’s some of my favourite episodes of the show in this season 😌 can’t wait for you to get there bestieeee!!!

At the time, Martha was given very short shift by a lot of the audience who had come to the show with the revival and couldn't see past the loss of Rose. Those of us used to Classic, meanwhile, just kept trucking along, because we could see Rose for exactly what she, and Martha too for that matter, was; a tiny blip in the overall scheme of all things Who. Not that I begrudge anyone feeling that way. Different eras of television are vastly different in how they're made, and people are used to what they're used to. Personally, Martha had me from "We might not"

Also HELLO to the blue suit! 💙 the Doctor finally making use of that Tardis wardrobe

I think Martha is an underrated companion. Freema is great. I think some were going to hate her just because wasn’t Rose, but I really like her personally

New series & new companion! This is now officially a two doctor series! Martha is very clever, which the doctor gravitates to. We do though get to see just how little he can abide anyone he feels is useless when he snaps at her crying colleague. The Judoon is a nice animatronic head. They cheat by having a bunch in costumes but only show one with their helmet off. I think it works. Florence's henchmen also work in their basic gear. Florence is a great villain. Hiding in plain sight like a sweet little old lady. Her talking about the crime she wanted for makes her sound completely unhinged: "Well, she deserved it! Those pink cheeks and those blonde curls and that simpering voice. She was begging for the bite of a plasmavore."

In my opinion this is the most underrated episode of doctor who
