One of my favorite season 1 eps! So many good moments and character realizations ☺️☺️☺️

Definitely one of the better earlier episodes. Hilarious with a good amount of heart and a side of conflict while we psychoanalyze our main characters. As is the Gilmore Girl way

No reactor adds as much value to a rewatch as you do.. I can watch a program for the first time only once. But I can watch you watch a program for the first time over and over.

Aw, the beginning of this episode gives me so many nice, if bittersweet, memories; my grandmother (who was like my mom) and I took that "put a post-it on it" bit from the show and would joke about it quite often, so whenever either of us liked any items we would say that line 🥹 truly an iconic idea haha. Such a good episode!

1X6 is another very good episode for different reasons than the previous one. There are some very tense moments throughout this episode. The dialogue in this one absolutely sings. So far we've seen how good the show is at it but they managed to kick it up just another notch here as characters go back & forth (especially Lorelai & Emily) Rory is on the receiving end here of Emily's controlling nature & coldness for the first time. Sure, she's seen it happen to her mom before it's an entirely new experience for her. It's also the first time we've seen her (deservedly) blow up at Emily. The end of the first party isn't a knock down drag out fight, it's really close though. Kelly Bishop really does a great job flipping the switch when Emily just shuts down & becomes unbelievably cold. It's very much one step forward five steps back. We see glimpses of Emily loosening her iron grip. They're just that though, glimpses. I also appreciate her realization at the end of just how completely estranged she is from her daughter & how much of her life she's missed. It's even more devastating because Lorelai just seems to be getting on fine without her.

Also I love how much scorn Rory puts on the word "Tristan" when she says it

Speaking of Grandma's buying presents. I remember my Grandma buying me The Offspring "Smash" back in the day. The parental advisory label is neatly displayed on the corner of that. I remember her telling me how she asked the nice lady at the record store if that was okay for a grandson. I'm grateful for that record store employee for saying that it was.

I think one of the reasons this show is so magical and a comfort to so many is the simplicity. We are just living their life with them - nothing insane or overly dramatic. Just relatable problems and lovable characters. Ive watched this show a million times and it still warms my heart every watch - loving the reactions so much!!
