My cousin texts me 5 or 6 texts at a time. I usually send a single block of words, and it makes me wonder if he knows something I don't. Are one- or two-sentence texts easier to consume? They're probably easier to edit. The thing is, hearing 5 or 6 notifications in a row is a little grating.

This episode is one of my favourites across the entire run of the show and Emily always makes me cry when she demands to go first! Kelly Bishop just kills it every single time she's on screen. Also I'm a send 50 small messages person, sorry to my loved ones.

The witty banter on this show is unmatched 🔥 And the chemistry between all the characters is so perfect! But luke and lorelei just have this thing… its too good Lorelei is my favorite tv character ever, and as i get older i relate more and more to her. So much love for Lauren Graham!!

That "I demand to go first" scene is something that has stuck with me for YEARS. It's so emotional but also SO Emily. It's something I've also said to the closest people in my life before too. Jury is still out on how healthy that is for me but hey, who's 100% perfect? After my mom died, I just can't imagine having to go through that again. I've had people in my life pass before but nobody I was close with. Death can be sudden, and it very much was with my mom. And the fear of it happening was very sudden here. This episode hits differently after my experiences from nearly 5 years ago (God, it really doesn't feel like it's been 5 years)

I totally can relate to Lorelai with her reaction to her father in the hospital, and just panicking. I felt exactly that when my dad went into the hospital. Plus, the way Lorelai feels comfortable being vulnerable with Luke and how he is there for her, despite his uneasiness with hospitals, was amazing!

The way I cackled when you said everyone was going to have to get over it because Christmas was coming. 😂

You're 100% right about the texting (and the ones you described from your family - dear gods!), but in fairness to the show, back then text messages were limited to 160 characters, so you couldn't say that much in a single text. And technically, unless you are using an alternative messaging platform like WhatsApp or Signal, that limit still exists for most messages - your phone just does a bunch of stuff behind the scenes to make it seem like it doesn't, like splitting long messages into smaller chunks to send them and then putting them back together at the other end.

You say Spencer Reid’s mom, I say Constance from ‘Party Down’ and also “Why doesn’t Christopher Guest make mockumentaries anymore?” and “Would ‘Waiting for Guffman’ have been even MORE perfect with Jane Lynch or is that asking too much?” 😊 Good episode. Luke is so into Lorelei right??? Shutting down the diner to drive her to the hospital, Santa hamburgers, and stealing nurses’ coffee…Lorelei you must be aware! Also, we need the apple tart recipe!

Love this episode! Luke was so there for Lorelai in this one! The sexual tension between them is pretty thick, too! I love all the Christmas decorations in this episode, especially the trees! We are less than 6 months until Christmas, so we're more than halfway there! Only 5 months until we put up our tree! My husband and our son won't let me put it up until the day after Thanksgiving. We don't do Black Friday shopping, anyway! lol! Can't watch Christmas movies until then either. We always watch the first one of the season while we drink hot chocolate and decorate the tree. Our son's favorite is Home Alone (1990), so we always watch it first! Love all the traditions of Christmas! My favorite thing, though, at night, is to turn the tree lights on, turn the room lights off, and turn on some great Christmas music.. especially when it's snowing! Do y'all have any Christmas traditions?

I think this is a very good episode. I love the sharp turn. It takes at the halfway point. Richard's trip to the hospital just sends this in a completely different app direction than you thought the episode was going to go

I appreciate Luke seeing through Taylor's hot chocolate scam. Nobody wants to hear your wobbly version of Silent Night. Let alone as a means of payment for nourishment.

The moment when Richard wakes up & sees Lorelai standing there before everyone rushes in at the end is pure magic. It's all done with looks & silence but you can feel this might be the essence of their relationship. Neither one of them says anything or wants to be the first to speak or know what to say. The emotional connection though is there. Such a great performance by both of them.
