I think Lorelai’s rant about President Bush might be one of my favorite moments of the series lol. Also can I just say, I ADORE how Lorelai clocks Christopher’s tea. Even their first convo was cutting the bullshit and getting to why he was even there. The situation was definitely hard on both of them. Father and mother at 16 I don’t really blame him for not being around but at the same time it’s BEYOND gutsy and foolish to suddenly come back and demand a place in their lives. As Lorelai said, that door was open for 16 years and he never took it.

Ohhhh Christopher 🤦🏼‍♀️ On the one hand, they do have amazing chemistry and I love their banter and the fun stories on their history… And on the other hand, there are so many red flag things that he says and does in this episode alone that inform SO much of who he is that I could never really get on board with him, even from the first scene lol

"I'll come back with another card" has got to be one of the most awkward ways I've ever heard to deflect from being busted. Maybe when you grow up rich, you don't learn how to camouflage your poverty.

That "I hate George Bush" outburst never fails to crack me up. And this episode really does such a good job at showing all the potential positives, and obvious negatives, within Christopher's character. He's got the "fun dad who blows into town and has good jokes, but has never been to a single Parent-Teacher conference in his life" personality on lock -- and I love the way Lorelai is written here, were she does have that spark with him, but 100% will not let that actually sway her when it comes to the practical side of life that she knows he is not capable of showing up for.

As a girlie with abandonment and neglect issues, I have always hated Christopher. But golly gee whiz, his chemistry with Lorelai is always so good. The actors bounce off of each other so well. I just wish he was there for Rory like he claims to be

Two thoughts as I was watching this episode with you: I distinctly remember Dean telling Lorelai that he doesn’t have a motorcycle during their conversation at the first movie night. She said Rory won’t be getting on your motorcycle. To which he responded I don’t have a motorcycle. Also, at the end when Lorelai is asking Luke to put up curtains it pans out and there is literally a curtain on the front window. 😂

I love the moment between Rory and Emily in the kitchen post-Mr. & Mrs. Ass. It's the first time (at least that I can recall) where Emily felt so warm and so much like a *grandma* and less like a grandmother, if that makes sense. She saw Rory was in her own head and made it clear that her love for her granddaughter has never faltered, that Rory shouldn't feel guilty for her own existence

God, SO MUCH HAPPENED THIS EPISODE. I hate when people watch a show like this, an episode similar to this one, and are like "Well, nothing happened." UHHH HELLO??? Are we watching the same show?? I'll admit that I've always been much more character centric lover of stories vs being a lover of the overall plot, so it's shows like these that I can truly appreciate over something like 24 (I'm assuming) where the focus on plot far outweighs the characters and the arcs they go through Definitely one of my favorite episodes of the season though. So many great moments, both explosive and subtle
