Yayyyy Gilmore Girls returns 🥰🥰 that moment with Emily quietly crying to herself always gets to me. She wants to be a good mother, her way of thinking just prevents it so much. Strong opener for the season. I hope we get some fall episodes before the next hiatus lol

On Rory's 41st birthday! :)

That Emily moment at the end always kills me. Not that I blame Lorelai from choosing not to share the news yet with them considering their history, but God, you can tell that huuuuuuuurt Emily. It's one of my favorite gut-punches of the show, as odd of a thing as it is to say

Lane's comically giant suitcase is one of the best visual gags of the series. They set it up perfectly throughout the episode highlighting her anxiety. Then pay it off cutting to a suitcase that could easily fit two Lane Kim's.

Man this is a great season premiere. All the bits work. The second Friday night dinner is the real meat of the episode though. Rory gets to finally see the side of her grandfather she's only heard about. The moment he sees Dean for the first time, the tension ratchets up to a nearly unbearable degree. It only gets worse from there. Richard's classist bent really comes out in full force as he unleashes on Dean. I think Dean actually does a great job taking in stride. He's just a teenage kid way out of his element that suddenly finds himself under attack by incredibly rude & persistent adult. It's incredibly telling that he's the one that takes umbrage when Rory finally calls him out on his outburst. Lorelai is extremely empathetic in her discu with Rory when it would be so easy for her to cut him down even further. Even taking that into consideration though it doesn't begin to excuse it at all & shows a great failing in him as a person. Great performances all round especially from Edward Herrmann & Kelly Bishop. It speaks volumes about her talent that you can feel bad for Emily when she gets the surprise engagement reveal. I'm sure though that my sympathy won't end up lasting for long. 😄

I remember when you replayed Buffy shooting the bazooka. At that point I was familiar enough with your reactions that I saw it coming. If I could have gambled on it, I would have. It was a sure thing.

Lane's suitcase is everything. :)
