Yeah not my favorite episode lol. I don’t hate it, but it is probably the worst in the season, but it’s also just a good time. Frankly we needed a light hearted breather after last episode lol

I LOVE this episode so much 😭 “Agatha Christie. “What about her?” “That’s me.” “NO!? You’re kidding!” Fun gags from the start, Donna’s on fire this episode 😭

The next couple eps are amazeballs. The wait for each is going to be torture.

A light-hearted episode to balance the series because a lot of darkness is coming soon. And this episode leads nicely into the next one. In fact it's quite possibly why the Doctor and Donna go to where they are going next. The next two episodes are my favourites for this series and they set up a storyline that spans multiple series. Really enjoy Darcie's reactions and also that she remembers past episodes and how it all ties in.

I know this episode isn't a fan favorite but I don't care. I love it to bits! It's just a tremendous amount of fun. The murder mystery, the setting, Agarja Christie & everything. There's just so much great stuff like the ridiculous flashback wipe they keep using which even The Doctor has a memory with. The villain is insane. A giant wasp that bashes someone's head in with a lead pipe. The title is fantastic as well & certainly sounds like it could have been one of Christie's books.

Ahh so excited for the next episode! This is when the series starts to get so damn good 🫣

Since you asked: yes, Agatha Christie really did disappear for 10 days in 1926, resulting in a large police search until she turned up at the hotel in Harrogate, saying she had amnesia. Probably more to do with the stress of her husband cheating on her than a giant wasp, but it did happen.

I didn’t even know this wasn’t a fan fav episode until I read the comments 😭 The poison-charades gag is so fun, the murder mystery, Agatha Christie, even the cheesy buzzing noises when he transforms! Soooo campy! And that cute little scene at the end where he finds her book (peep the witchy souvenir from the Shakespeare episode!!!) and talks about how people never stop reading Christie, even if she didn’t believe her works were that good, makes me tear up 🥹 reminds me of another episode yet to come that does it even better imo It’s also true! Agatha Christie is the best-selling author of all time, second only to THE BIBLE! This queen 🫶🏼 Onwards, babyyyy 🥹

This is a hugely enjoyable episode -- the first one in the modern Who series deliberately played mainly for comedy, spoofing the conventions of the "whodunnit" genre even as it faithfully follows them. The use of Agatha Christie's real-life disappearance in 1926 is really clever, although it actually happened in December and they wanted the story to be set at the height of summer, hence the Doctor never mentioning the actual date when he shows the newspaper to Donna at the start. For the Christie fan, there are nearly two dozen of her book titles which Gareth Roberts and Russell T Davies amused themselves with by inserting references to them. If you watch it again, you can pick out these ones in the dialogue: Appointment with Death, The Body in the Library, Cards on the Table, Cat Among the Pigeons, Crooked House, Dead Man's Folly, Death Comes as the End, Endless Night, The Moving Finger, The Murder at the Vicarage (at the end, the Doctor says "Murder at the vicar's rage" but admits it "needs a bit of work"...), Murder on the Orient Express, N or M?, Nemesis, The Secret Adversary, Sparkling Cyanide, Taken at the Flood, They Do It With Mirrors, and Why Didn't They Ask Evans? (in the teaser, the Professor says "Why didn't they ask... Heavens!" as he sees the wasp appear). There's also the visual references to The Murder of Roger Ackroyd, and Death in the Clouds -- the paperback cover the Doctor shows Donna at the end is real. It's that image which gave the writers the initial idea for the giant wasp in this episode (although it's only a symbolic image; there isn't actually a giant wasp in Death in the Clouds, just an ordinary-sized one). And one last Christie title is the most obvious reference of all -- The Man in the Brown Suit... :-)

And the woman that turned out to be the Unicorn is played by Felicity Jones who would go on to the be the star of Rogue One (the most liked of the Disney Star Wars movies), she was in a Spider-man movie, stared with Tom Hanks in one of the Divinci Code sequels, and most recently was the female lead in The Brutalist in 2024 (nominated for Best Picture and and Adrien Brody won best actor). So she’s become a pretty big movie star.

I have so much fun with this episode and you can tell everyone making it had fun too! Not the most groundbreaking but I think a much needed funny and light hearted breath of fresh air. No spoilers of course but I will echo everyone else’s thoughts that the rest of this season is really peak doctor who in my opinion. Hopefully you enjoy as much as I did and still do on my frequent re-watches.

I don't know if anyone has told you lately Darcy, but you're ever so plucky.
