To be fair- if you were ever to get an icecream maker this would probably be the cheapest time to get one. How many people are making icecream in the winter?

Such a great episode, and knew it would be the perfect final one before your break from the show!!

I’m gonna miss my weekly GG!! Lorelai being a single parent at 16 kinda more so explains why she’s a bit possessive of Rory. (And also the fact that Christopher disappoints Rory almost every time he rears his head) Not one of her best parenting moments but no parent is perfect. Plus gotta appreciate how she always realizes and admits to when she’s being dramatic or plain wrong. One of my favorite episodes btw! So glad you got to watch it during Christmas times. On rewatch I recommend looking for Paris in all the wide shots and reaction shots. Seeing her get excited about sleigh rides and chilling out is so great to see.

I love this episode a whole lot. Jess and Rory have such undeniable chemistry that it almost makes me forgive Jess for being such a little shit (derogatory). "What do you and Dean even talk about?" is genuinely such a great question if it didn't come with ulterior motives haha. Because like...sincerely, what do they even talk about?? I just don't see Rory and Dean as having very much in common It makes me deeply sad that Jess' mom never even called him, let alone wanted him to come home for Christmas. Like...that hurts my heart so much, to feel that unwanted by the person who should have an unlimited supply of love for you, barring any heinous activities. I've grown far more empathetic of Jess over the years whereas all I saw him as was the "bad boy" persona that I found trite and boring for most of my life. But he's gotten me to care enough about him that I genuinely feel sad for him and understand him a bit better than I once did And then of course, Richard and Emily. As somebody who also likes things planned and to know what's coming next (thank you ADHD and autism), I completely understand why Emily felt so slighted that Richard didn't tell her. I think it would have been better had he spoken to her about it before finding out in front of everybody during the dinner but it is what it is. She just needed to speak with him to know what he was thinking to understand where he was coming from. As much of a dick as Richard was being, I do love them together and totally agree that that scene is such a good look into how their marriage has lasted as long as it has Also! For clarification, that is Dean's little sister; not his niece!

Buy quart ziplock bags and gallon ziplock bags, place icecream ingredients (milk, sugar vanilla at minimum) into the quart ziplock, i recommend also taping it shut. Place icecream quart bag into gallon ziplock, fill remainder of space with ice and then dump salt onto ice (salt lowers the freezing point of ice, allowing it to freeze the icecream) close the ziplock bag. Then keep the bag moving so you end up with icecream and not a block of frozen milk. Shaking works but I recommend simply flipping the bag over on a counter every few seconds.

This episode is an all-timer for me & it's a great high (spot) to stop at. There's some conflict & drama here but it feels so slight. Everything is very Stars Hollow & dinner focused. We also get pretty much everyone we've seen in town involved. There are some interesting pairings like Babette & Mrs. Kim. Definitely going to miss this show. I'm eager for you start Orphan Black though.

I spent a few minutes looking up that ice cream too. Couldn't find any retailers that had it or shipped it. I'd never given it thought in the past, but I'm kind of surprised It's not readily available.
