Seeing your comment above is really interesting to me. I recall vey little about this. I think it's a sci-fi riff on The Flight of the Phoenix. Curious to check it out again.

I was surprised to find out recently that Lady Christina de Souza is a bit of a fan favorite character? I mean, I think she it's she's a fan favorite based on her having a number of audio dramas.

A couple of cool notes: This was the first Doctor Who episode shot in HD. The desert scenes were filmed on location in Dubai. They had the bus shipped to Dubai for the shoot, but it was meant to be intact. It was damaged in shipping when a shipping container was dropped on it. So, the script was adjusted to reflect the bus' damaged state.

December to April sounds like a dream, considering the next episode isn't scheduled until Christmas 2026 😭

Michael Fallon

Yes, 'Your song is ending'' - this is what the Ood said also, however is this all of the sentence? Maybe there's a 'but'? On another note, the next episode is very good and I can't wait to see your reaction.

Just to add: there's a logical reason behind the gap between the easter special in April and the 3rd special being in November - In the UK, at any rate, viewing figures of shows go down in the Summer season and rise again in Autumn and Winter, so it was a well placed choice, also it lines up closer to the Christmas special (for reasons yet to be seen).

I've always loved Christina, our companions tend to be very good people so it was fun to see someone who... isn't exactly? Although she does give up the cup when asked and I think it would have been fun to see her growth!

The “He will knock four times.” Prophecy haunts me… as it shall the narrative. It’s all happening again 😭 Also Carmen hitting the doctor with “Your song is ending soon.”, calling back to what the Ood said in Planet of the Ood, and the Doctor hitting her with the exact same expression he did then 😭😭 like wtf do you mean pls don’t say that

Next episode might be one of my favourites ever 🫡 a true standout in NuWho

Enjoyed this more than I recall from last watch. Love to see The Doctor getting by with his wits & no Tardis. Lady Christina is pretty good companion here. I had no recollection at all that Lee Evans was in this. I'm surprised you didn't recognize him from Mouse Hunt.

Christina always reminds me of Jordan Brewster in lesbian masterpiece D.E.B.S

The historian in me broke when The Doctor ruined Athelstan’s cup

Sometimes a great song ends but the one that follows is brilliant as well. Sometimes a sad day is followed by a fun time. And just sometimes, when the time is right and the wind is fair….just when you need it…there is a song.

You're asking how we went months without new Doctor Who? Well we are currently in a very long wait. Last episodes of Doctor Who aired in May/June 2025 and the next episode is not until Christmas 2026.... 1.5 years... with only a 5 episode spin off in the meantime to keep us around! You're gonna hate when we catch up...
