Topher and Adelle are the show's main duo for me, their friendship, their development, both as friends and individually... I loved them every step of the way. The memory wall scene physically hurts me, i can't even

On my first watch, I remember thinking that for a Whedon finale (when he wasn't ready for the show to end), we lost fewer than I expected. But the ones we lost sure hurt!!

Listen--sweet cookies always need a bit of flaky salt on top. You did the right thing

Oh! I have cookie dough in the freezer! I'm gonna put some cookies in the oven while I watch. Heh, mine are oatmeal raisin.

Another show that gives you all you love in this one is Netfix's TRAVLERS.

Echos's breakdown about Paul crushes me every single time. Big time crying.

SunnydaleClassof99

As per tradition someone has to die in the heat of battle & we don't have time to dwell on it. Paul & Anya are spiritual twins.

SunnydaleClassof99

I know some people don't like Paul but I really do. I've lost track at how many times I've seen this show. While he isn't my favorite character of all-time I've grown attached to him. He's got a fairly compelling character/story arc. There's a lot of twists & turns. Even though he's a "tortured detective type I think Tahmoh imbues him a lot of personality. I wish he'd get another shot at a high slot on the call sheet as a series regular. His non-relationship relationship with Caroline/Echo is messy. I think it's painfully earnest though too.

I can distinctly remember watching the pilot & being so rubbed the wrong way by Topher. Most of the lead characters were so detectable. I think he stood out as the most though. To go from that to how much you feel for me in the end is just such a lovely meld of performance & writing.

SunnydaleClassof99

Shout-out to Zack Ward too here as Zone. I probably wouldn't be as attached to his character if not for his performance on Titus. He's just a likeable dude to me.

And now that it's over... I'd forgotten how bittersweet the ending of this show was. I mean - they won, but at such a cost... Also, Eliza Dushku was always a good actress, but her scene coming to grips with Paul's death was really outstanding. This was definitely a show that had too short a run, for sure.

I had such a wonderful time re-watching this show with you, Darcie. I cried and sobbed at all the parts you did the first time around. I miss THESE characters, so so very much. Our time was devastatingly short with them. I'm always left feeling quite bereft in particular when it ends. I always pitch this show to various reactors over the years and it's never gotten picked up, but you would LOVE Six Feet Under. It's an hbo original, came out in the early aughts, dark comedy, existential, thought provoking, topical, and it's got arguably the best finale of all times. I highly suggest you react to it. It's got a cult fan base waiting for a decent reactor to do it. Or at least react to the pilot! ❤️

I know I’m in the minority but I put this up there with any of the Whedon shows. I just think it’s a masterpiece and was way ahead of its time. Joss originally had a 5 season arc planned out for the show and one of the seasons in the middle would have focused heavily on Alpha’s rehabilitation from villain to hero but that got lost in cutting down of the series. I believe that we already did know that Alpha was good in the future from a line in Epitaph One but it still does feel jarring. I love all of the little things in this episode, like in the episode before this one Tony takes an upgrade from the chair where he’s still himself but he has fighting skills. Him and Priya are hesitant but it saves them and it puts Victor down the path to his tech addiction. Fun to see that Kilo is also one of the Tech heads.

How bittersweet to have such a wonderful and thought provoking show only for it to end too soon. I would have loved to explore more of this world both pre and post apocalypse, to see these characters trying to navigate the chaos and rebuild the world. Just like Firefly, this one was way ahead of it's time. For me this finale was perfect. We won, we got a 'happy' ending but like most battles we lost so much along the way. Not everyone made it to the end. All these years later and this still feels uplifting and pretty dang devastating. P.S. Kudos to Whedon for predicting just how bad 2020 would be!

I feel obligated to mention that Nate Dushku, Eliza's brother, plays Clive Ambrose in this episode. You'll probably see it now that I told you because they look quite alike 😍
