That was an incredible episode - the writing was just stellar. you absolutely called it right before the other shoe dropped. The funeral and everything leading up to it was SO funny; I can't believe how much I was laughing at that funeral. I am Roy through and through - although I have wanted for a while to do what Keeley suggested and have my body fertilize a tree. And then we got hit with a freight train of emotion. I don't talk about it much, but my mother killed herself when I was 19 years old. That was more than 30 years ago, and I've been through therapy and I've worked through and learned to live with the grief and the guilt and the anger. But when Ted talked about his anger at his father for leaving them... boy, that was so real. I felt EXACTLY what he described, and for a moment it all came back. A tough episode to watch, but it was kind of cathartic to see Ted come through that. Again, some truly brilliant writing (and acting) in that scene, and getting out of it with the little bit about charging for the session was the perfect way to end it. Which is the only reason I bring this up - because, to me anyway, everything about this episode and the way it treated the topic was perfect and true to life. I can't praise it enough. The laughing at funerals was a good life lesson... we'll always grieve over people we've lost, but when we have the chance, it's better to remember them with joy than to wallow in that grief.

I recently lost my dad, so when I realized what episode it was, I wasn't sure I could get through it. But you made it easier. It really hit me when you said "welcome to the club, girl", I felt like I was being hugged by a close friend. When you shared about your feelings at your grandmother's funeral at the end, I felt seen again. So thank you. Love you and love this show so much 💙

I'll never forget how my aunts and uncle reacted to my siblings, mom, step-mom, and me after my father's passing. We grieved, of course, but we didn't wallow. We ended up lighting a candle, singing all of my dad's favourite songs around the table, telling stories and laughing, re-watching his Dateline episode over and over all night long. Both my father's and grandfather's funerals were unconventional because they were memorials, a celebration of their life. We didn't want people to be sad, but remember the wonderful things about them. My aunts, uncle, and Nanny (my grandma's nickname) really couldn't wrap their heads around the thought, so they had their own funeral for him.

I wish his name wasn’t also Rupert in this show too. It would make it easier to separate the characters
