This is an excellent example of why I say series 5 and 6 are the peak of New Who, and why 11 and Amy are my favorite.

Looveee this two-parter but one scene that always annoyed me was when you see the Angels move. Like we’ve been told theyre impossibly fast and that they ONLY turn into stone when they’re observed, but here it’s stony head turns and slow movements towards Amy when she has here eyes closed. People speculate “they weren’t sure if she was looking” but that doesn’t make sense because it’s a fact of their biology, they don’t just petrify when they THINK people are looking! Anyway, my small peeve 😅

"Don't open your eyes for more than a second Amy" - Opens her eyes for 15 seconds... "You, me, handcuffs. Must it always end this way" - That's how it ended in the library with 10 in handcuffs when River died.

I'm having so much fun re-watching these with you! Love Amy, love River, love this incarnation of the Doctor... I think this is my favorite era of Doctor Who.

Daniel McGuinness

“I look forward to it.” “I remember it well.” That’s good stuffffff 😮‍💨 The “River, I could kiss you!” “Maybe when you’re older.” is fun too, I love when they play on their funny timeline

Andrew Nicholson

As you can see, the moffat era is full of quotable lines especially from River. “If you like, but wheres the fun in that?” Is one of my favourites. As is the handcuffs line. And yes, River has promised she’ll be back…”when the pandorica opens.” Glad youre enjoying 11, Amy and River. This is my favourite era of Doctor who, and ive been watching since the 1970s. As for Amys romantic inclinations, she’s quite confident in dealing with men she finds attractive. Its definitely a character trait, as does a subtle (repeated but underplayed) reference about her liking to …ahh…play dress up.

I always see this as Moffats Aliens to his own Alien- the first Angels episode was a creepy haunted house with folk being picked off like Alien only the house there is a spaceship, the sequal ups the number of Angels (aliens) and adds in the military and is less haunted house more action based.

Moffat has always said one of his biggest regrets was that scene with Amy getting with the Doctor. Very much a product of the time.

Oh it has been a marvellous day for Doctor Who today! Two missing classic Dalek episodes have been returned to the archives; they've not been seen by anyone since 1965. So I am THRILLED going into this one. The crack in time throws up SO many questions here (as does River of course); there's lots for us to think about as the season rolls on, for sure! & it still has me trying to put a lot of it together again now on rewatch, even with hindsight. As for Amy coming on to the Doctor... truthfully, I remember my reaction at the time being pretty negative, bc he says no but she keeps going. The music & the Doctor's reaction tries to tell us it's fine, even a little funny, but tbh it always gave me an icky feeling. I'm glad the minisode exists so we get that immediate aftermath; the Doctor describing himself as "space Gandalf" is gold, and I love his "I can't see it" explanation for why he travels with humans. Ofc we love Rose as the exception, but personally I don't want constant Doctor-companion romances. Friends, chums, pals & mates (lol Donna) is good with me! The TARDIS is absolutely stitching the Doctor up here for comedy's sake too, bc it doesn't show any of his numerous past male companions 😂

This is an amazingly tense episode but everything at the end is Pure horror for all the wrong reasons

There's been so much said about this Weeping Angel two parter. So I'll just say it's a fantastic one that does so many different things (tension, horror, comedy, drama) so well.

I love The Doctor referring to himself as Space Gandalf & that meaning Yoda to him
