...and my tea is cold already :) (I am a coffee drinker but avoid it in the pm), but I have a Stars Hollow mug, so that checks out at least!

Yasemin

OMG the Kirk love is real. I will never not think of Kirk when I hear "Eye of the Tiger", lol.

Yasemin

You have a very good point about the Lorelai-Rory dynamic and questioning what part of her life/plans is truly her own.

Yasemin

Yes, the delivery was flawed, but Richard does have a point.

Yale is in New Haven, Connecticut! The hospital there saved my husband's life! Yale is closer to Stars Hollow, than Harvard is... just saying!

Yasemin

Hey there, so fun to see you here! Welcome! Darcie has great reactions to our fave show :)

fire12wife

I've been watching them since she started GG... I guess our comments just haven't crossed paths before! LOL!! Love that I don't have to sync with her reactions and that she stops the video when she needs to. Makes it easier for a busy girl like me! I've been watching Michael and Brandon on CineJump, too! They put out 2 episodes of GG every Sunday, and they just started season 2!

Yasemin

Oh really? Must have missed you. :) Also watching the CineJump guys, but currently on Youtube, as they post the same eps as on Patreon. :) Also, no need to sync on Youtube lol, definitely an advantage!

Yasemin

Oh, and same about stopping the video, I love it! Just my vibe. :)

fire12wife

Yeah, I sometimes have to pause for things, and when I watch the synced ones, I can't really do that.. easily, anyway. Today, I watched it as I cut my hair! I have my color on my head now! lol! My birthday is tomorrow, and my husband and son are taking me out to celebrate! Have to look my best, so the mani-pedi is next! Being a cosmetologist saves us a lot of money!!! Hahahaaaa!

He does have a point, but the way he went about it really bothers me. He not only went behind Lorelai's back, but he didn't even tell Emily about it... I'm guessing because he didn't want her to stop him, either. Richard should have just been honest with Rory in the first place, and she would have gone with him, but at least then she could have been prepared, and none of the three Gilmore girls would have been upset with him!

You are absolutely correct that Richard knows what he's talking about when it comes to Rory getting into university and how difficult it can be without, frankly, a bit of privilege to back you up. But I think we all can agree that his strategy was deceitful and manipulative, to everybody involved. Hell, not even Emily knew what his plan was I love rewatching this show. All of our main characters are so fascinating and are so fun to kind of study them and realize how they've become to be the person they are and what led them to the decisions and actions that they made. This is coming from that conversation that Rory had with Dean at the end of the episode Rory says she has no idea why she treated Dean the way she did and I genuinely believe that. But in my head, I was just thinking to myself how, in my opinion, Christopher plays a huge part in how she treated both Dean and Jess while she was both figuring things out and fighting those thoughts/reactions Anyway, great episode. I always have such a good time rewatching the show with you

I don't want her to go to Yale, because that will make Richard happy.

I think Lorelai would’ve been fine with Rory not going to Harvard if it wasn’t for her parents. Her trauma with them basically reverts her back to being a teen just trying to get out from under them whenever they argue. She’s probably NOT dead set on Rory going to Harvard but just said that in the heat of the moment because of the way Richard orchestrated it.

Yasemin

Yes, totally!

Yasemin

Happy birthday, Kate! Enjoy your day! :)

I think you made a good point about Richard sometimes having a really good point deep down, but presenting it or acting on it just terribly. What he said about thousands of people applying to Harvard was absolutely true, and when it comes to those Ivy League schools, he's right (unfortunately) about the power of having connections. And Yale is a fantastic university, for Richard to present it as a legitimate opportunity for Rory is great. Or, it would have been if he hadn't been so underhanded about it. I'm glad Rory let him have it after the interview about not being prepared. Because he absolutely was giving her a great opportunity, but then sabotaging her at the same time by not giving her the chance to prep for that opportunity, knowing full well that "off-the-cuff" is not Rory's strength. Oh, and there's some great pizza in New Haven!

I'm late watching this but man, I just got slapped in the face yet again with how much my grandfather and Richard were alike. I had completely forgotten that this was the episode with the Yale interview ambush but when they were at the fridge and he was grabbing Rory chocolate I started to get teary because my granddad would do that awkwardly when I would visit because his wife kept Swiss chocolate in the freezer and he was trying to bond. My granddad died while I was attending grad school at the university that he and his father had both attended and so I always feel like on rewatches I'm more willing to give Richard the benefit of the doubt because his heart was in the right place, and he loves Rory to pieces, he just went about it horribly.
