Darrell Palmer

One of my favorite episodes of the series. 🥳

Scott Margeson

James Marsters' work in the final act of this episode is nothing short of a masterpiece. Damn. This series is so under-rated!

Amy

Final scene has to be one of the best in the series. Goosebumps every time

you can really see James’ classical training being used in full force in that last scene - so glad he got to add this kind of dimension to Spike’s character.

I never really see this addressed, but to me during the scene in the Bronze- where Spike seems to goad Buffy on ("Have another go in the balcony?")- always struck me as his way to get Buffy to hit him and punish him more for what he did to her in S6. Like, he was *trying* to get her mad and hit him more. He even seems disappointed when she decides to leave. Does anyone else see that or is it just me? The backstory on that remarkable final scene is that the original script was written by Doug Petrie but it was too literal and didn't hit in the way Whedon wanted, so he completely rewrote it himself. You can still find reprints of the original Petrie version online. Whedon's version does have a more poetic, obtuse and almost Shakespearean quality to it, complete with double entendres ("Spilling useless buckets of salt over your... ending" can be read a couple of different ways). About that blue sweater... Especiallly since S5, I feel every season has an underlying color theme; red for S5, black and deep purple in S6 and blue for S7 (maybe green for S4?). Spike's sweater nicely complements the deep blue in Buffy's top and the bluish lighting during the final scene in the church. And regarding his leather coat, Darcie: as you may remember, he left it on the banister at Buffy's house at the end of 6x19. He doesn't have it. Another fantastic reaction, Darcie. I can see how emotionally invested you already are in this season. It's always a pleasure to watch with you. Cheers, Pikachu! Enjoy your tea!

One more thing... is that a husk of corn on the sleeve of your shirt, Darcie? I love it!!!

You might recognize Nancy. In the alternate universe of "The Wish" where Buffy never came to Sunnydale, she was one of the "White Hats," that universe's version of the Scoobies, along with Oz and Larry. At least... I thought so. Apparently, the two Nancies are played by different actresses, but they're very similar-looking, so I assume this was the intention, and maybe they couldn't get Nancy #1 back.

Kirsten Stewart

The final scene is in my top 10 of the entire show. The way it was shot, the slow unraveling of the truth from Spike’s seriously crazed mind, the lighting… and then, the performances! It is a prime example of what sets the show apart from all the wannabes that have followed.

Pikachu drinking tea with the little purple guy 😊

Glad you enjoyed this episode and that scene. I remember watching one reactor who was on his phone during it and didn't understand what was going on

Samanthadiane

I straight up said, "Is Pikachu drinking coffee?!" Glad for the clarification at the end! :)

Corey

I know who you're talking about. I had to stop watching him because it infuriated me haha

BiPolar HoneyBear

Spikes speech at the end is just so incredibly good
