I know that when seeing this model it would be impossible to know how much effort and time went into making it what it is. I worked with 2 different digital sculptors on and off for about 12 months to get the result I was looking for. Countless drafts and revisions. The labor was super fun and engaging- and I am pretty sure that there is at least 1 more draft coming.

So, I am happy to present you with my planes of the head model, version 1.0

Eventually there will be a physical version available for purchase but theres lots of work to do before I make that available.

I have a 3d printer I've almost never used. It'd be cool if I could pitch in a few bucks to get the stl files so I could put my printer to use!

Andy Rodriguez

Great job Bauman, appreciate the effort! 🎉

Dave Emerson

Great work Stephen...Thanks for everything you do for your students. You're a top notch instructor!

Katrina

This is so excellent. Thank you!

Marcel Coderch

it seems lighting is fixed. I think it would better to have a light source and the value of planes changing es head is rotated.

David

Amazing! These models are so great and super useful, thank you!

Kevin C

Any plans to make the model downloadable? Could allow us to import it into Blender and set the lighting however we want, which I think would give us more use cases for the model.

Pat Smith

Thank you, Stephen. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate all the work that must have gone into this marvelous creation.

Kylie Mackay

With a licensing fee for download like on turbosquid, or maybe a feature request to be added to an app...

Chris Langley

Brilliant stuff, Stephen. Really appreciating the sensitivity in this—e.g. the down-turning planes at the corner of the mouth. Would be great if one day this could be overlaid on to your 3D skull model with a fade-in / fade-out feature, so we can see how the planes relate to the underlying features of the skull. Bravo!

Marcel Coderch

Try Head Model App. Same functionallity but you can also control lighting.

Marcel Coderch

Steve, I suggest you contact with the authors of Head Model App and arrange for your 3D model to be one of the models available within their App. A perfect combinacions.

Marcel Coderch

The App I am refering to it is now called Head Model Studio for Android and Head Model for iPhone

Cynthia Hickson

this is just a brilliant sculpture and yes I can't imagine the process...It looks way beyond my comprehension....its beautiful!

David Suissa

Thanks Stephen. I’m looking forward to a 3D-printed version of the Head.

J Hasegawa

as the Hawaiians say: "Mahalo Nut Loa" for creating this. Absolutely blown away. I might even become a decent portraitist despite myself!

User1

Different lighting positions would be appreciated.

Kelley Hails

Cannot believe I've missed this. WOW. Going to buy myself some clay and a few basic sculpting tools. GREAT reference. THANKS for making this, Stephen, this must have been incredibly difficult. So appreciate your efforts!!

Is there any update on the physical version of this? Is it possible now to purchase the STL file to have it 3D printed one's self?
