I gotta give credit to Star Trek Online for making all the different versions of Gorn throughout the series into different castes of the same species.

Martin Caidan wrote a bunch of 6 million dollar man stories, not sure which novel has a story in deep space. Caidan is an important guy in sci fi. Everyone has feet of clay, which is why I get frustrated with people losing it about Lovecraft.

If it's not too late to jump in on the Lewis Carroll discussion, I was reminded of Pat Barker's World War I novel Regeneration during the Extra Credit episode on Alice. I read it over twenty years ago, and don't recall much about it other than how there seemed to be a very subtly drawn sense of dread about Charles Dodgson, who appears in the novel as a minor character. My literature professor didn't agree with me on that when I commented on it in my essay, but I guess I should petition the University to bump up that grade now.

Oh man. Roadside Picnic? Yes please. The movie, “Stalker”, also written by the brothers, is also g r e a t. The video game inspired by the movie “Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl”… well it’s a good Shooter but not really in the same tone as the book and the movie. I tried to develop a one shot LARP inspired by Roadside Picnic, but everybody just wanted “Shadow of Chernobyl with Airsoft”… not that I’m bitter or anything.

And another call for “Sector General”, especially as the spirit is so different from anything else so far!!!

The recent movie “Malignant” is (spoiler except it’s fairly obvious) a spin on the Edward Mordrake story. It’s not great, but it’s sort of entertainingly over-the-top at points.

Yes! Zelazny! Finally. I'm so excited, I'm so excited, I'm so, I'm so... scared!

Funny little coincidence, the morning before listening to this episode.. my friends shared the very same intro to that Thermodynamics book.. my reaction, much like Chad's, was "that's some Call of Cthulhu shit!"

Hell yes!!! I just re-read Roadside Picnic a week ago, and I missed that comment on the Mimsy show. I would love to hear you guys examine my favorite short story!

Steve

Oh no! I'm playing Minecraft while listening to this. So found out.

Happy you guys acknowledging Švankmajer (sch-vAhnck-mAh-yeh-R... lol) he's one of my favorite Czech filmmakers!

Shay Fargel

not that I really care at all, but Fargel is pronounced with a hard G. you guys just seem to not know what to do with my name when you read it, so now you know. :) keep up the great work guys! (and thanks for reading so many of my little comments!)

My girlfriend has been urging me to read A Night in the Lonesome October for years, and since you'll be covering the novel next month, she tells me I now have an immediate homework assignment.
