It's getting close to being done, so naturally I'm spending my evenings nice and relaxed playing a bit of Final Fantasy VII Remake. Or I would be doing that if it weren't for another not often talked about part of Software Development: Testing.

Currently I'm running all my manual tests to make sure that everything works as it should and I didn't accidentally crash owlbear again (it happened, don't ask). And while I see myself as a very diligent programmer, I always find bugs.

This is no wonder when we look at the changes I made.

I currently stand at 1,733 added lines of code and 974 deleted lines of code. That is alright, because I did a lot of refactoring and probably also ok for a big new feature. But when looking at average bugs per LOC (Lines of Code) here. That means I probably added at least 20 bugs. And also no wonder big AAA titles seldomly ship bug free.

Most of them will never be triggered because the situations where they would happen are very unlikely, but some of them will be triggered and that's why I usually spend around 4-6 hours testing with real scenes and maybe even playing a session, to get the biggest ones out of the way.

So not long until a hopefully bug free new version will be released.

Have a great day,Josh
