The next day, a smile covered his face when he saw Hermione walk in. A part of him was afraid that Hermione would choose to pull back after yesterday, which would have depressed the hell out of him.
It wasn’t about the rewards. She was fun, a highlight to his otherwise boring life.
Luckily, she did not. Instead, she walked into the pub at her usual time, right after her classes had ended. Her expression was soft and indecisive, enough to remind him that approaching her wrongly might have made her run away.
Luckily, he knew exactly how to tease her. “Welcome, the world’s most beautiful tutor,” he said, bowing exaggeratedly, the surprise enough to allay her worries temporarily. He had learned that Hermione wasn’t the best improviser, and an unexpected action could be the best way to derail her.
“Don’t exaggerate,” she said with a blush.
He smiled, but it was a soft, teasing one. He closed in the distance. “I am not,” he said as he put his arms around her waist, and she tensed. “I can also call you the loudest one if you want. We can even have a test.”
Her eyes widened. She opened her mouth, but he could see that she had no idea what to say. Convenient, because he was more interested in kissing her. When he pulled back, her blush grew wild. “You look really cute blushed, miss tutor,” he said as he grabbed her hand, and dragged her to the seat where he had his books open.
He didn’t like to study when he had many other interesting options available, but he knew that trying to convince her to do so would cause an unnecessary argument.
Of course, just because he was willing to study didn’t mean he wanted to keep everything the same, which was why he pulled her onto his lap. “So, the last time, we were studying math, right?” he asked.
She looked at him, incredulous. “You can’t expect me to sit on your lap while we study.”
He chuckled. “I can certainly expect it,” he responded, caressing her belly. “I mean, you might refuse, but that’s a different matter.” He grabbed her chin, looked into her eyes while getting closer, her lips parting reflexively. “Are you going to refuse it?” he whispered, his voice rumbling. However, he didn’t kiss, lingering just a touch away, their breaths mingling.
“You’re cheating,” she whispered.
He barely bit back a response about her being the cheater. That was one box he wanted to leave closed. “How about a bet on the seating arrangements, then?” he said.
“What kind of bet?” she asked.
“Simple, darts,” he said.
She scoffed. “I can’t beat you at darts,” she said.
“Even if I play left-handed?” he responded, confident that she would pick up. She hated being condescended to.
“Fine, but no crying when I beat you. And, once you lose, we’ll study the double time,” she challenged.
“Deal,” he said, even shaking her hand, which made an amusing sight. “I mean, it’s still a reward for me. The more time I spend with you, the better,” he whispered.
Her blush grew even more, but she failed to answer. Instead, she retreated from his lap, and grabbed the darts. He shook his head, watching her dart around. She was so different from last night, yet somehow still the same.
Before he started, he went over the rules. While he challenged her mainly to tease her, checking whether such a playful bet would give him points would be a nice side benefit. He didn’t expect any, but there was no harm in making sure.
Luckily, Hermione saw no problem with their playful bet played with official, strict rules.
He even flipped a coin to see who would start first. She was the lucky one.
Once the game started, he was glad for the extra points, because playing off-hand proved to be even harder than he expected. Luckily, Hermione wasn’t that good a player, and in the end, it ended up surprisingly close, with him eking out a lucky victory when she accidentally ruined her winning hand.

He hummed as the last dart hit the board, processing the reward. Just the fact that he got one was amazing. Even better, the reward was for two points for merely one, while he also received the ten-point reward. It was the third reward without decay.
Though, interestingly, this time he received no extra reward from the unlucky fiancee. Whether her relationship changed, or a darts game, despite the eventual stake, didn’t count as a loss for the unlucky guy, he didn’t know.
But, he would be happy to test it later.
“Wow, that was close,” he sighed, then he sat back in his seat, patting his lap. “Now, it’s time to pay, Miss Tutor.” Then, he looked serious. “You don’t have to do if you’re actually uncomfortable,” he added. “Teasing you is fun, but only if you’re enjoying it as well.”
“It’s a bit late to ask that question,” she responded, but her smile was a more honest answer. She sat on his lap. Then, her smile suddenly turned vicious. “Of course, I’ll only do so if you’re paying proper attention to your studies. I might change my mind if you’re … distracted,” she said, rolling her hips during the pointed pause.
“Oh, you’re evil,” he muttered, fascinated by her reactions, going between assertive and shy in surprising ways, not that he complained.
What followed was the most unique study session of his life. The best part, he didn’t even have to take the lead, because it soon turned apparent that mixing studying and flirting was something she had fantasized a lot, and she was happy to live that fantasy.
The only challenge was that her warning about not letting him coast along had been fully serious. Whenever his attention wandered, she had been ready to punish him. And, not the fun way. She just stopped flirting until he answered her questions correctly.
It had been entertaining and productive. Unfortunately, when the first customer finally arrived, the fun ended. “This is when my real work begins,” he said with a sigh, wishing that he could quit, but that was not an option.
He still needed the money.
“Yeah,” she said, sounding equally disappointed.
“How about we continue our … studying in your flat after I finish work,” he said.
She tensed. “I, we can’t,” she said, her eyes wide. “I have a flatmate, and…” she added, then paused, unable to finish her sentence and find a nice excuse why her flatmate shouldn’t know about them.
Naturally, he understood the real reason for her panic, and why she couldn’t say. Her flatmate must know her fiancee as well, and she wanted to keep him a secret. “No worries. I have no problem being your hidden boytoy,” he teased. “We can go to my flat. Just be warned, it’s kind of far away, and a bit of a dump.”
“It’s fine,” she accepted quickly, her color still heavily scarlet due to her panic. “I’ll be here when your shift ends. When does it end today?”
“Nine,” he said. The other waiters would arrive in an hour; they would deal with the after-work rush together, then he would leave. Naturally, as the new waiter, he got the shifts with more tips, not that it made that much of a difference.
But, an extra few pounds every hour still helped, hence him absorbing the afternoon shift.
After one last kiss, she left, leaving him alone for boring work.

He left the work at nine, and Hermione was already waiting for him. Even with that, two tube lines and a bus meant that it was already past ten when they arrived in his neighborhood.
It was a long commute, but luckily, Hermione didn’t ask why he wasn’t working anywhere closer.
“It’s not as bad as you said,” Hermione said instead, looking around.
He laughed. “Sweetie, we both know it’s a lie. Don’t worry, I’m trying to find a better place. It’s why I started working at my new pub,” he responded, giving her an explanation about the commute just in case.
“Still, I believe it’s not that bad. It has character.”
It must have been fate disagreeing with her, because merely two minutes later, while they were walking a darker patch, which was difficult to avoid without adding ten minutes to his walk, they were interrupted.
“Hey,” a voice called them, and he looked, only to see three figures walking forward. He tensed as he saw them, because their bloodshot eyes suggested that they were not merely drunks. “Wallet, both of you,” one of them said, drawing a knife.
He carefully reached for his wallet, and pulled it out. He wasn’t afraid of a street fight, but that didn’t mean he had no self-preservation instincts. And, fighting against drifters drugged to the gills was not a smart move. “Calm down, friend. We want no problems. Here,” he said, raising it.
He felt Hermione’s hand tighten around his, but he could see that she wasn’t panicking. An interesting response. It might be about having magic as a safety net, but he suspected it wasn’t the full story.
Unfortunately, the night seemed to be unlucky, because one of them looked at Hermione’s face, his smile twisting. “Good, leave the lady with us as well,” he said, making a move forward to grab Hermione’s arm.
He decided not to take any risks, and when he approached, he delivered a sharp jab to his diaphragm, leveraging his open stance. He would have gone with a kick before his boxing skill, but his improvements made boxing the better option.
However, the moment he did that, the other two reacted faster than he had expected.
They must have taken uppers. He was really unlucky tonight.
He would have focused on the one with the knife, but a red light flashed, and he went down, cold. He immediately changed his target, attacking the last one. Two jabs to his side, followed by another punch to diaphragm, and he was down as well.
He targeted those locations due to his street-fighting lessons. The first rule, unless it was an emergency, was never aimed at the head or throat, as it might cause some unnecessary deaths.
[Dangerous Fight, Victory, +5 Boxing]
He hadn’t started thinking about the reward yet. Instead, he looked at the downed figures, and leaned down to check the one that collapsed with Hermione’s spell. Not because he was worried. While his Wand Magic Theory skill didn’t give him a full list of spells, he still had a general understanding of them. There were too many safe options, so he trusted Hermione not to use a deadly spell.
Especially since she didn’t even panic. He was just putting on a show, because he wasn’t supposed to know about magic. “Good, he has a pulse. He didn’t just drop dead. The drugs must have overwhelmed him,” he said, giving her an easy excuse.
“Drugs can do that?” she asked.
He shrugged. “It must. Still, we better call emergency services just in case, and wait until they are picked,” he said. That part, he probably wouldn’t have bothered alone, but knowing Hermione, she would insist.
Unsurprisingly, she already had her phone in hand.
While he called, he pondered over the reward. He had been surprised by the reward. Getting boxing was somewhat understandable since he had used his boxing skills to take them down.
Though, getting five points was surprising. Maybe Hermione’s presence elevated the reward.
But then, maybe real fights, especially when the numbers were unequal numbers, would have given more rewards, and her presence actually reduced it. It wasn’t something he could know.
Also, he noticed two little flashes of light when he turned his back, suspecting that Hermione used magic to keep them unconscious as well. It was confirmed when he watched her slip a long wooden stick back to her sleeve. A sleeve that he felt nothing when he brushed, but he assumed there was some kind of enchantment keeping her wand safely on her.
After checking the road, he hugged her. “You’re very brave; you didn’t panic,” he said.
She looked as if she didn’t comprehend at first, but her eyes widened. “Yes. It’s your self-defense lessons. They helped a lot,” she replied. “I’m still scared.”
“Don’t worry,” he said, hugging her while they waited for the emergency services. She tried to act scared after the fact. She was not very good at faking it.
As usual, he didn’t call her on the obvious lie. While self-defense lessons weren’t useless, they wouldn’t keep someone calm when facing danger, meaning she was more used to danger than he expected.
Interesting. The world of magic might be more dangerous than he had assumed if she was that familiar with danger.
Unfortunately, Wand Magic Theory skill was singularly unhelpful in understanding the daily life of the magical people. It helped him understand how dangerous magic could be at its worst… but it was like trying to understand how dangerous London streets were based on how dangerous a nuke could be.

Dealing with the ambulance and the police cost them another half an hour, so it was almost eleven when they arrived at his apartment. Luckily, the people with whom he shared a room were out.
“You have exaggerated how bad your place is,” Hermione said as she glanced around, but he could see that she was being kind. It was clean and reasonably ordered, but that was where the positive qualities ended. The furniture was old, and the building was even older.
He didn’t push her. While he wasn’t happy with his overall living conditions, he wasn’t ashamed of them either.
“Thanks,” he said, but when he sat down on his bed, he pulled her onto his lap directly. “Now, where were we?”
Watching her confidence and control fade into a shy panic was fun. “I thought we were going to study,” she stammered, but her hips were already moving.
“We are,” he responded, already pulling off her shirt. “Our current topic is biology. Applied biology, to be exact.”
“That’s a terrible joke,” she responded.
“Well, I’m distracted by how sexy you look. Excellent bra choice,” he responded, which was no exaggeration. Unlike the previous day, she chose to wear something small and lacy; the crimson color looked appetizing.
He kissed her hard. A day had been enough to make him very passionate about what was about to happen. She responded by rocking her hips desperately.
Soon, she surprised him by pulling back, her hands already on his jeans, unbuttoning in a hurry to release his shaft. He was happy to mirror her move, pushing her jeans down, revealing her panties.
They were just as sexy as her bra. She looked good, and he also liked that she dressed for him.
Small details mattered.
He threw her onto his bed, kicking his shirt and pants before he trapped her under his body, still kissing. Unlike the previous night, he didn’t need to whisper every few seconds to create scenarios to keep her distracted from the other issues.
Tonight, she was his.
Her palms mapped his chest, exploring his muscle lines, which he was proud to maintain, while he focused on exploring her body at a different pace. After kissing her for a while, he slid down, teasing her neck, always a fun target.
She whimpered, which turned into a deep moan when he reached her collarbones. When he reached lower, he reached to her back, unhooking her bra. She looked good with it on, but not as good as she looked without it.
He moved lower, his lips on her breasts, kissing and nibbling, giving her the princess treatment, something he never bothered for other girls. She was amazing enough to make it worthwhile.
He could have stayed there all night, but her moans were already getting impatient. So, he moved lower, lingering on her flat belly for a while. Her moans turned melodic, but that was nothing compared to when he pulled her panties down and bit her inner thigh playfully.
“Put a pillow to your face,” he warned. “We don’t want to wake all of our neighbors.”
“I’m sure—“ she started, trying to act competitively, but when his tongue danced along her entrance, she changed her mind pretty quickly. She grabbed the pillow, pressing to her face.
Her moans were cute enough that he decided to show off. He already knew exactly what to do when trapped between a pair of beautiful thighs, but as an aspiring athlete, he also knew that there was always better. And, his Tantric skill gave him exactly that.
As his tongue danced at her entrance, her moans turned wild, even the pillow unable to suppress her moans properly. He could have pushed her to a climax quickly, but Tantric gave him a lot of options to keep her right at the edge.
Options that he happily leveraged. He had to admit, watching Hermione coming undone bit by bit gave him a pleasure that he normally didn’t get. While he had made a point to keep his past bed partners happy, it was more to maintain a good reputation in the one-night scene than genuine desire.
Teasing Hermione felt different. Considerably more fun.
“Please,” she whispered a while later. “I … please.”
“Do you surrender, beautiful?” he asked.
“Yes!”
“Tell me you’re mine.”
“I’m yours,” she moaned.
“Good girl,” he whispered, and delivered one last flick, and her arousal, built like a jenga tower, toppled down, her moans loud enough that he rose to kiss her out of pure necessity.

The only unfortunate detail was that his reward decayed once more, but since he expected it, he didn’t mind it that much. It was difficult to ruin his mood while kissing Hermione while she climaxed, and that detail was nowhere near enough to achieve it.
Any other woman, he would have insisted on paying back with a blowjob, but with Hermione, he was more interested in watching her face twist with pleasure once more.
He just twisted their bodies, so that she was on top, her whole body for his sight. “Ride me, beautiful,” he ordered.
She slammed down, taking him deep. He thrust into her while his hands pulled her hips down, adopting a vicious rhythm that had the bed rocking dangerously. She clung to his shoulders and met him, trying to take as much as he gave, already improved since her first time.
He couldn’t help it. He leaned to capture her neck, sucking hard enough to leave a hickey. A little declaration, one that defined their night, as he was determined to see how many orgasms she could handle before her body gave up.
The answer turned out to be seven…
As an added benefit, he learned that, for secondary special character, the decay stopped at five.
