Glowing lantern for 94! The colors in this one are simple, but the first part of wet into wet is fast and you might need to watch it first to understand where I'm trying to end up. Don't worry about painting pine tree shapes as much as nailing the texture that gives it that look, especially for the background trees. Focus building values in the objects in the foreground like the snow clumps on the branch and the lantern. Everything in the background should be fuzzy and not as detailed. I can't wait to see how you do with this one! Please let me know if you have any questions.

Paper: arches 140 lb cotton 9X12" paper that I've cut into 3X3" pieces, giving me 12 pieces per page.

Paint: The palette I'm using today is the split primary palette by letter sparrow: cad yellow deep, lemon yellow, cad red, magenta, ultramarine blue, cerulean(probably closer to phthalo blue), indigo and sap green. I don't use all the colors, but I will name them as I mix them. Feel free to use pre mixed convenience colors as well.

White paint - optional. I used white gouache at the end for snow splatters

Brushes: round 3/0, 4 & 10- Princeton brand.

I’m excited for this one. It’s a blustery wintery day here in ND - perfect day for painting this tiny!

Would love an outline, Kristin. Would be so helpful if you start including them again.

An outline to trace would be great - I'm really struggling with trying to draw this one!

Kristen, I just finished this one and again one expressed my gratitude for your generosity in sharing your skills. I was looking at my most recent ones compared to my beginning ones and I have made tremendous progress THANKS to you. I’ve wanted to be an artist since I was a kid, but never felt like one despite having a graphic background. Today I was comparing my first tiny paintings with my most recent ones and I’m so pleased with my progress. I only started watercolor in February, but now I’m feeling like an artist! Happy Thanksgiving and thanks so much!

Luella

Will you be putting up the flowers of the birth month for November and December? I’d like to finish them out. Also in the new year, can you start a new chat thread?

Kristin Van Leuven

Wow that’s the best thing ever! Being able to see the progress is a huge part of the journey and I’m so excited for you. You’re worked so hard and I’m so glad you’re here
