As we head toward the end of the year, I want to pause and celebrate all the tiny paintings you’ve made in 2025. Whether you’ve painted every single one or just a handful, this project is about growth, curiosity, and showing up- not perfection.

To cap off the year, I thought it would be fun and meaningful to do a year end project. Nothing big or new, but a few creative options to stretch ourselves and see how we've progressed this year. I have 3 ideas below, but you can take this in any direction you like and choose the one that feels most exciting or meaningful to you.

1: Scale It Up

Pick one of your tiny paintings and recreate it at a larger size. This could be your favorite, the one that surprised you, or the one that still feels like it has more to say. Pay attention to how your brush control, color choices, and confidence have evolved as you work bigger. Check out the last live class under the tab "livestreams" to get all my tips and recommendations for scaling up.

2: Paint It Again

Go back to one of your tiny paintings from early in the year and paint it again.Try to keep the subject similar and notice what’s changed. Your mark-making, your values, your patience, your eye. This option is all about seeing your progress in a really tangible way.

3: Revisit the “hard to look at” One

Choose a tiny painting you were unhappy with at the time, but moved on from anyway. Now that you’ve learned more and feel a sense of confidence and accomplishment, try painting it again. This isn’t about fixing the old one, it’s about giving yourself a second attempt with new skills and a different perspective.

There’s no “right” choice here. Pick which one feels best, and maybe do all 3 or your own idea for a year end project.

Tiny Paintings Community Video

I’m also putting together a year end video featuring our tiny paintings, and I would love for you to be part of it.

Please send me a photo of your tiny paintings in the group chat, however many you’ve completed so far.It does not need to be all 100.One painting or fifty, both are worth celebrating.

Deadline for photos to be included in the video will be Monday December 22nd. Video will be up Tuesday December 23rd.

To submit a photo, either put it in the group chat, or email me at Kristin.lovelypeople@gmail.com

This project has been about consistency, play, and letting small things add up over time, and I can’t wait to see what you’ve created.

Thank you for painting alongside me this year! I can't wait for what's coming in 2026❤️

Kristin what a wonderful end to cap off 2025! I’ve so enjoyed the whole year after stumbling across your instagram in January just as you were coming up with an idea … to ending up in December checking if the next tiny video was available yet waiting for it to be morning in Arizona so we can paint the next ! Can’t wait for 2026 project to continue our growth !

Dianne

A wonderful idea. You are a great teacher, and motivator. Thank you.

So happy I found you after attempting many different tutorials & watching other artists. I used to be a career driven professional that focused on the corporate ladder. You’ve helped me find balance, beauty & my inner artist.

Thank you so much for all the time and your dedication to all of the projects. Where as I can see improvement in my own paintings, I do struggle with consistency in producing paintings I like…some work out, some need more attention…and that’s ok, as I’ve heard you say before, not every painting of yours turns out the way you hope. So…I’m happy to continue with this very fun hobby!!! I’ve already thought of going back and redoing several of the minis…and there are many live classes to view. I’m out of town (again!) but will post a couple of my faves for your video, when I return home. Happy Holidays; I look forward to 2026! Oh! And Scotland….cant wait!!

I’ve been carefully mounting each picture on black foam board and it’s so much fun to look at them. I’m so proud of following through on these projects ..all 100! Thank you for your teaching and inspiration. I won’t be home where they live until Dec 30 so I’ll miss the deadline to post them but I’ll get to it later.

What a great reflection for the year…if I didn’t know better I’d say you were a middle school teacher in your previous career Kristin😉…I always gave my students options too and it helped them find their happy place in the project to grow best! And I am likely to try more than one of these choices because they all intrigued me🩷

I’m so enjoying your classes. I haven’t done as many as I want but they are there for me later. Thanks so much.

This is my first time commenting- just wanted to say I've thoroughly enjoyed painting with you this year. I'm an attorney and haven't painted since I was in elementary school. So much fun, and the tiny format and your gentle instructions helped me overcome my anxiety. I usually paint the same thing 5 or 6 times, and I love seeing my improvement. Thank you!

They're all located under the Collections tab, then 100 Tiny Painting Challenge 2025.

Hi, Will you be saying the names of the Winsor and Newton colors during the tutorial? I would like to use the same palette as Kristin. ( I didn't this year and I felt like I missed some color mixing)

Katherine

Although I am 20 behind, I painted the rabbit again as a gift for my daughter and the berries and bokeh lights on a branch three times as ornament gifts. I will continue to try to finish the remaining 20 but am also so excited for the next series in 2026! Thank you so much Kristin ♥️

Heather R Hare

I got 17 of them done, but I used a sketchbook. I don’t know how to take a photo for the community video that would represent what I painted… any suggestions would be welcome

Luella

Hi Kristin, will you be posting December birth month flowers?

Linda Szabo-Charest

Hi Kristen, I have been trying to contact you regarding my Patreon account with you. Did you receive my messages in Patreon? Thank you!

Kristin Van Leuven

Hi Linda! I just saw your comment come in. I don’t typically check my direct messages on the weekends, but I will look into it and get back to you ASAP.

Linda Szabo-Charest

Thank you! No hurry just wanted to be sure you received. Merry Christmas!

Even though I didn’t manage that many painting this year. I have thoroughly enjoyed seeing everyone’s work and being a part of all this creativity! Kristin I enjoy our sessions so much and cannot wait to experience all you have planned for 2026! Really excited for is all! Thank you for all the incredible work you put in. It keeps my inner artist growing even if at a tiny 🐌 pace. 🫶🏻 Happy holidays everyone .

Kristin, I came to watercolor needing a rewarding, cup-filling hobby that got me out of my analytical, optimizing brain. And your tiny paintings have unlocked so much more for me than that. I’ve rediscovered my creative side that I loved when I was a little girl. You’ve helped me find her again. Thank you for all you have done, and I am so excited to continue painting with you in 2026!

Gina Shirey

Hi, Kristin. I saw your Tiny Paintings for 2025 reel on IG and saw the bonus tiny painting. Loved it! Will you be sharing that one?
