See you soon – 12 PM MST

The picture attached had the most votes and I can’t wait to show you how to paint this beautiful scene with a focus on textures.

Materials:

paper- I'll be using a 4X6" piece of arches watercolor paper, taped down.

paint- Bring any paints that you prefer, I'll be using the W&N limited palette of cad yellow, cad red, ultramarine blue, lemon yellow, perm rose, cerulean, indigo and sap green.

brushes- We'll be using our regular brushes, size 4 and 10 round, and also a rigger or liner brush size 1. for the

texture- bring anything you have loved using this month! I'll be trying to use as many techniques as I can: cling wrap, card scraping, utility blade, dry brush, salt etc. The rocks and stones in particular will be great for experimenting with texture, and I plan to show a few different techniques so everyone can do it their own way.

**If you're worried about sketching out the cow, try printing the image and using tracing paper or parchment paper to transfer the sketch directly to your paper before we start. There are lots of tutorials on youtube you can find to make this process easy. If you can’t make the live class, don’t worry!

All classes are recorded and available to watch any time after the stream ends. The link will be live at 12 PM MST when the class starts. Let me know what questions you have! Can’t wait to paint with you

Is there a material list? I must’ve missed something.

The rocks look a bit like melted chocolate, currently.

Harry Brownsell

Hi all. Missed this one. Will have to join the replay.

Sue Heiss

I've used the edge of a razor blade in a class I've taken

Linda O'Rear

I always forget how to upload the picture to this group. Can you remind me.

Charlene Blanchard

This was my first class. I have no idea how to upload a photo.

Shanan Aspen's Messy Middles

This one was a blast! Had to duck out and finish it up after work. I have become much more hands-on with my paintings with all these rough-and-tumble techniques. 😆 If you would have asked me in January if I'd ever take an exacto knife to my painting, I'd have just laughed. Now I'm like "this needs some slashes!" 🤣

Roseanne Therese

This was so much fun and I learned so much. Such a cutie cow! 💕

Kristen, in the video, you mentioned that your husband is a blacksmith. That is so cool! Does he do it for a living or hobby?

Kathleen Livingston

Kristen, one of the most valuable things you bring to these videos is your voicing your thought processes. Fixing problems is at the CORE of me feeling successful, and you make that seem entirely possible!
