Peacock for #31! I promise, this one is a lot more straightforward than it looks, it's just repetitive. We save the parts we need to keep bright with masking fluid, and doing that makes the rest of the painting easy. Watch the first wet into wet layer all the way through first, and then after that the layers are slowly built up to create feather texture using dry brush. After the masking fluid is removed, we now have bright white ovals to create our feather pattern, which helps the pattern stay bright and contrasted against the darker feathers. I can't wait to see how you do with this one! Please let me know if you have any questions.

Paper: arches 140 lb cotton 9X12" paper that I've cut into 3X3" pieces, giving me 12 pieces per page.

Paint: For this project I am using a split primary palette- cad yellow deep, lemon yellow, cad red, perm. rose, ultramarine blue, cerulean, indigo and sap green. The colors I'm using today are - lemon yellow, cad red, ultramarine blue, cerulean and indigo.

Masking fluid: Pigmented masking fluid by Winsor & Newton

Brushes: round 4 & 10 Princeton brand.

Dear ms van leuven, I purchased a membership last night, excited about your tiny watercolor series. Today, going thru your tutorials, I realize you are using "advanced" tools and methods. Special cotton paper, really good paints... im totally stuck in cheaper media (beginners budget). I respectfully ask if you would refund my membership fee. Do what you think is best, of course. I admire your talent, some future day ill be back. Regards...

Just watching this lesson first -- like revealing a magic trick. Quite a process! Will try esp because I know I'll learn something from my errors.
