Flower pot for #45! For this painting, instead of painting the flowers or the pot, we are painting all the spaces around them first. Then we can go in and add details that make them look like flowers and a pot! If you have a hard time visualizing the flowers, definitely sketch them out. Use the light areas that you saved for the highlights to make everything have depth. I can't wait to see how you do with this one! Please let me know if you have any questions.

Paper: arches 140 lb cotton 9X12" paper that I've cut into 3X3" pieces, giving me 12 pieces per page.

Paint: For this project I am using a split primary palette- cad yellow deep, lemon yellow, cad red, perm. rose, ultramarine blue, cerulean, indigo and sap green. The colors I'm using today are - cad yellow, perm rose, sap green and ultramarine blue.

Brushes: round 4 & 10 - Princeton

I thought we were painting around first.

Well, we’re painting the light general shapes first to have a base color. I guess I said that weird haha. But they won’t have any shape until we negatively paint around them. Think of that first layer less like painting the flowers and more giving our base layer so they will have some color and we can see where to negatively paint them

Your yellow is so . . . Dirty! It amazes me that you can still get any yellow color from it.

I know. It drives me crazy!

haha sorry! I feel like a lot of my color mixing success comes from keeping my palette on the dirty side lol
