Hi Everyone! In today's "live" class we are going over this month's topic: masking fluid. I am currently at a watercolor retreat, so after gathering all your questions about masking fluid, I put together this video to hopefully help answer them.

Please let me know if you have a question that I did not answer. Cant wait to paint with you this month!

Thank you. Masking fluid is always something that gets tricky.

That Daniel Smith should have come with a set of nibs that attach to the end to make thinner lines.

Such fun layers of masking fluid painting!

Great Video Kristin! FYI... I found that empty paint pans works great to pour my masking fluid and soap into. The masking fluid lid becomes a hot mess when I try to put it back on the bottle or take it off later. Plus I can pour less to get the depth in the empty pan and then pitch it when I am done. I think the soap messed with my fluid after time. It made it bubble and then I kept getting air pockets. Plus it threw off the dry time... WAY to long. Bonus... I use a magnetic pan and stick it to a small jam lid and it wont move around. I have the Daniel Smith bottle with the tip and it became a mess after a few uses. I think am sticking with my "ruling pen" and pouring into the small pan method for thin lines and easy clean up ;). I also loved the cut your eraser tip off to keep clean. Pure Gold! I hate the black gunk smear!

I wish they sold an empty bottle with a tip that we could pour our fave masking fluid into for 'painting' with, that would give us more control as you seemed to have with the Daniel Smith bottle. Loved the video thank you! I did feel that you lost of a lot of the original colors in that landscape, which is something to keep in mind, the masking fluid does absorb pigment so darker washes to begin with.
