Murph mentioned that this campaign will likely have maybe one more arc, which makes it seem unlikely that the characters will go to level 20. C2 also ended at like 14 or something I think. I know the story takes priority and extending the story to get to level 20 is silly. But, I am curious if running high-level DND is not as fun as running mid-level DND (in terms of planning encounters etc) and how intentional this choice is to end campaigns before level 20. It seems like characters really hang out in the 11-15 level range in NADDPOD. (Not a criticism at all and I think that level range is really fun to listen to! Just curious for Murph’s thoughts.) Love the show, it’s a highlight of my week.

I was relistening to the Frostwind Chapter of Campaign 1 and noticed you name drop Ultrus as the leader of the Frost Giants at the time, obviously the Band of Boobs never followed up on that thread, but I wanted to know, what were your plans for Ultrus at the time were, and were there any differences from the Ultrus we met during Campaign 3?

OK I also have a Q that's actually related to D&D: I'm running the campaign Storm King's Thunder for my first ever time DM-ing. Because it's so focused on giant politics, the party doesn't seem super hooked, there's a bit of a "what's my motivation?" vibe. Do any of you have advice on how to hook players back in to a story that isn't grabbing them, or do I just straight up pivot? I was thinking of having them get trapped in a gem for 1000 years and they emerge to a world ruled/torn apart by giants and I just write my own campaign from there. Would love to know your thoughts!

I was in a Pathfinder campaign where the GM refused to kill any PC. It wasn't a low death campaign, it was a no death campaign. The combats started to just become boring, "the dragon who just slaughtered a village wasn't going to attack because he wanted give me a chance to run?" I feel Naddpod is a low death campaign, but the combats still carry weight. I feel Murph would kill you all, if he actually could. How do you keep the threat of death high, when the PCs feel "unkillable"?

Hi guys! This question is for the whole soup crew, B to C to E and J (Think that stands for Jim, not the office guy but whoever the part time court bailiff is). Have you considered trying out any new game systems for either one shot or long term Naddpod campaigns? Such as Mage the Ascension (From World of Darkness), the Delta Green setting or even another D20 system such as Pathfinder? Personally would love to see a Caldwell character ascend into the role of a reality bending mage and the wackiness that would undoubtedly unfold. For all of you! How long do your sessions normally take? The episode editing is very impressive because there's no way your sessions are only one to two hours. You must be cutting out a bunch, but the show sounds so seamless and natural.

Question for the group (but perhaps mostly Murph): What has the rationale been for the lack of guest PCs in Bahumia this time around? Not complaining at all- the main cast dynamic is great and the focus on just them has led to a really focused, sharp story in C3. But I think back to Mavrus and Deadeye and Jabari and just miss the energy change up that some of the guest arcs provided. Any chance of any guests yet in C3? And if not, what has led you to focus this story just on the main cast? Love y’all!

Question for the DMs but I guess Jake can stay. I'm nearing the end of the first arc of my first campaign as a DM, and it's going great, but I'm realising that I'm mostly setting up fetch-quests : talk to an NPC, gather some info, make a couple of perception/investigation check, fight, get the item/kidnapped kid, go home. As my adventurers are about to set forth into the wider world, I was wondering if you had some recommandations on how to build quests that break this pattern?
