Really awesome that Stitch has been added to the NADDPOD pantheon of Sabulba, the Joker, Tony Soprano, and Sonic Edit: honoured to have my third case read on the show! I have great friends, and I hope I continue to have deeply strange and fun D&D scenarios :)

Lucas

It is time.

DowdMusic

You ain't cringe, you ain't free

Labor costs don’t impact spell component cost, that’s insane. Gp value of gems and spell component costs are things put in the PHB to represent very specific, tangible, costs. The minerals needed to cast the spell are still what they are. I can see an artisan’s expert craftwork affecting things, because that makes the final product into a more appealing offer. Some spell descriptions even specify that an item has to be crafted masterfully. But Hero’s Feast requires specifically 1,000 gp worth of gems, which is the mineral cost basically, and that they be encrusted in a bowl, which is the symbolic aspect. Them putting in time and effort doesn’t make the minerals in the gems change. Their gp value, and the cost of the spell, remain the same.

Silky

"We'll see Stitch at the My Chemical Romance reunion" they had a whole tour last year! Was Stitch there

Magma River

For the Verbal Components case: there is a source that says that verbal components for spells are a "barked command" or something to that effect, basically meaning there is a decent amount of volume to it. However, I'm 90% sure this is a *third edition* source and not a 5e source. I think it's easy to find this via Google or word of mouth without realising it's not 5e. My old DM actually used this for our campaign, but he was up front about this when it first came up and he pointed out what would happen, rather than pulling a gotcha on us.

DowdMusic

Emily, I will squash my beef with the High Crit for that mug. If you don't remember the Tyler precedent, or the other cases you have provided kangaroo hearings for, ask that coward Jim to read my newest case. You are on record stating that you wished to torment me, not very Barristerly behavior. I am willing to settle out of court for that 1st mug you made with the too tick walls. I anticipate hearing from paw paw soon. Tyler D

Clever Innuendo

TIL I'm the same age as Stitch (post preduction)- an elder millennial.

Roz Rae Powers

Hilarious as always, thanks for the ep 🐻💜 Re: verbal components, I know that in 3.5/Pathfinder they break stealth, but I don't know of anything saying that in 5e. In my experience that's one of those things that varies by table and GM, like whether or not magic has visible colorful sparklies and floating glowing runes that give everything away. In this case I feel like the GM ahould have said "Hey remember verbal components break stealth" if that's how the table had been playing up to this point.

Joey

Patreon stretch goal idea? I’d love to donate to the potential reward of a video form play session with the piñata idea. Maybe even have some strings on the piñata that the players have to tug as a punishment, ultimately resulting in the fear of being the one to break it. Maybe as a runaway encounter that if they can’t escape before they bust the piñata, the floor falls out or an avalanche happens or something and they take the rolled damage as a party

Cory Wyse

Being a Millennial isn’t about when you were born, it’s about how many hecking awesome doggos you pet.

Simon Hughes

this show is slowly turning into r/amItheasshole and im here for it

Sam

Omg mine too. I was legit so excited when they mentioned him

Melissa Shilale

Nu metal millennial, I appreciate this moment of education for the young ones. Your references deeply delight me.

Audrey McCLure

Emily can I have your first bowl please 🥺

Intestinal-Bookworms

Emily should auction off the first mug for charity, that’d be fun

Cain

I'm only half joking that my eye twitched at them calling Stone Temple Pilots nu metal. Half joking.

Sarah D

I love Stitch so much but Rueben is the best experiment! He has all the same physical abilities as Stitch but also advanced language and all he wants to do is sit around and make sandwiches

Lia

Commentary: HK-47 is the only suggestion for a true assassin Droid as an ally, all others will fail to use as bait, I mean protect their meatbag companions. Speculation: I wonder if there would be a way to play a blood hunter as essentially HK-47 🤔

Rah

After binging for a few months, I’m finally caught up and now I don’t know what to do with myself 🥲

Just Me

Petition for a new NADDPOD shirt that says “if you’re not cringe you’re not free”

Lis Telep

Please god I need the "too much nu metal, too much Stitch" coffee mug ASAP 😂 **also planning on making "As a Milennial Stitch, I don't want to see you lose any Emily Points" art in the near future lmao**

Savor_The_Robot

Its so cute that NADDPOD doesn’t know the just cast fireball meme.

Groove819

I really dislike most of the "are you sure" DMs. i find it far better to just specify how you plan to rule the action. This allow to highlight any misunderstanding between the player and the DM that should be obvious to their PC. If they're still sure the action takes place if they aren't they have the option to course correct.

Price

Gen x stitch here…Thank you… lol… live laugh love

Ellie P

Verbal components are loud, this is why subtle spell exists as a class feature. They aren’t yelled, but they aren’t quiet. Spell casting in general is not a subtle thing

Ilana Galpert

Crunchy gold facts--gold in dnd makes no sense, I think a donkey is worth 15 or 20 gold. Breastplates are worth 400 and full plate is 1500, so based on the described aristocrat's wages, Smiths would be the kingpins of the DND world

Professor Pratt

I have Jeremy’s first bowl. I just had it appraised on Antiques Roadshow:Galaderon. I was advised to insure it at 1500 gold and a possible auction price of 800 gold if I found the right collector.

Professor Pratt

Gen x here! I was only mildly grumbling STP wrote Creep.

William Sander

It’s one thing if they were selling that bowl to another person. They might be able to charge more for it based on its quality in that particular situation. But I find it very hard to believe that the Laws of Magic themselves would care about the labor put into making a bowl. The DM was right.

Matty H

We have bikes in Montana, and we definitely need pants. Thank you for sticking up for us.

Crits

The range of thaumaturgy is 30ft. Is there any scenario where throwing the sound would be useful if verbal components are intended to be that loud? Seems weird that part of a spell sorcerers usually don’t have would be useful exclusively to them

Ilana Galpert

Such a good point. The weave isn't stroking it's ephemeral chin and thinking "what a well made bowl. Look at the taper on the sides. And the glazing? That's worth 15 gold at least"

gandalfsbignaturals

hi u guys need to know that in WV kids sing a song that goes "way down yonder in the paw paw patch" ty

Rob Wes

Imma gen X Stitch

Patrick Harry

oh man, initially calling Stitch a Gen X made me as an Elder millenial feel old! I was also the one screaming at Murph, "Thats Stone temple pilots"

Ralph Chavez

Super cringe, but I doooooo need a remix of that open to vogue to

Peter Levinson

Almost got too bored and disaffected when logging in, but we find your Tiny Log Millennial views of us jejune and adorable. Party On justices. (And also the weird cosplay cop you have standing by the door there.)

Anthony Abreu

@Murphy Chain lightning actually hits 4 targets at level 6! The description reads "Three bolts then leap from that target to as many as three other targets."

dummythixon

Regarding the green encrusted bowl... I think the ruling is right, they agreed to the rules and they make sense but if you want to get crunchy they are making this bowl for the whole sale cost since a 1000gp is theoretically turning a profit for it's seller. The rolls could be too not bungle the bowl, this reducing it's worth

Andrew Corliss

Just finished listening to this in Beijing airport then walk by a blind box stand where they have Stitch blind boxes…was this episode a sign?

Gwen Gilpin

Hey, this Gen X Stitch figured out how to log into Patreon WEEKS ago! Also, TLC had a song called Creep too.

Justin Sun

I think the worst part about the Thaumaturgy DM is the fact that the DM narrated how the rogue acted in the moment. The DM is robbing the player of any level of autonomy in the moment just to get a whomp.

Cianistarle

Seethes in Gen X. Honestly I am just so happy that Emily remembered that we exist! 1973 for me! We are the "whatever" generation!

Sawyer Bernard

Does Boomer stitch have a good wallet?

Amanda di Johnny Bravo Camera

relate so much to the pottery thing- I manage to pull an only sort of uneven baby cylindric vase, look up with a shy, satisfied smile, only to see the man next to me with a two foot gorgeous vase, an artistic vision, made from porcelain clay to boot. beautifully humbling

Anna Barnes

Wasn't Stitch a new creation at the beginning of the film, how is he 18?

Bugbear

If someone is making a bowl with 990gp worth of gems, it is not crazy to imagine a bowl made of those gems is worth at least 10gp more. That's literally all the question was saying, that an item is worth more than the sum of it's components, which is just common sense. Such a wild take on that question

Bugbear

No, what's wild is using the economic worth of an item as a unit of measurement for casting magic. It's a fundamanetally ridiculous and nonsensical concept and that has nothing to do with the players

Bugbear

The rule doesn't say the bowl has to be made by an artisan, literally the only stipulation is that it's "worth 1000gp". If I have 1000gp worth of materials, I don't see how it's a gift to allow me to make an item with those materials.

Bugbear

The spell does not say "1000gp worth of gems", it says "a gem-encrusted bowl worth 1000gp". I imagine additional value could be added by the material of the bowl (wood vs gold). It's fundamentally nonsensical that the "worth" of an item, which is a mutable value based in the abstract concept of currency, is a metric used in the casting of spells. But since that's how it works, it's compeltly reasonable to me to say that the value of an item is the sum of the component materials and the work of assembling the item. I think it's stupid to have a magic system reliant on economics. But that's basic economics

Larry Scott

If you don't want that pottery bowl you made I would gladly take it off your hands. I would proudly set it on my d&d table and fill it with dice.

Magerdamage

I'm looking forward to the next episode of the effervescent justices and the bailiff little logs

Caleb Horton

Personally, I think they should be disbarred for this injustice

Bebs

I think Stitch’s age should be determined on when the movie takes place, not when it was released or when it was conceived

Zach J

Seeing a pre-meditated lie like that would also make me question everything I thought about the person, but I couldn't not say anything. I'd have to call it out right there cause I'd just have to know what their response would be, and their reaction would determine if I choose to willingly put myself in their weird vibe radius going forward.

Omar Mtz

Ruben is experiment 625. His power are to make sandwiches

Adam Kepper

HOW DARE YOU TAKE AWAY STITCHES MILLENNIAL STATUS. Big L guys.

Adam Kepper

Exactly, the age may not have been decided until just before release.

J.I.

Haters are FEASTING!!

Cianistarle

It's not her fault. She only got lucky charms on xmas and she needs time off to deal with The Flinstones!

Matty B

Feeling defensive about being born in 79 lmao.

Matty B

I'm a Xennial. In between both generations!

Cianistarle

73 here I am gen x and I'm proud about it. kzter haters lol

DadJokesAreLife

I must admit, this Dice Christ confession resolution has me concerned. Have our holy representatives forgotten that all that is required for evil to triumph is for good people to do nothing? Absolving silent complacency is setting a troublesome precedent in this Holy House. I believe it is on all of us to call out sin where we see it and I believe this confessor was correct in feeling that they had lost some favor due to their silent enabling.

Rachel the Freckled ADHDer

Don't be putting us 80's babies in that Gen X bracket. We are millennials and PROUD.

Filthy Guppy

The phrase “Before Disney cummed him out” (54:59) is more cursed than the dip spit cup. I am available to fight about this.

Justin Reynolds

Bout to need out, but the case at 29 ish minutes. There is a precedent for this in Harry Potter. Snape is caught muttering during a quidditch match but he is not “heard.” He still had to use the verbal components but didn’t have to shout.

Eli Huxtable

As a millenial Stitch I recommend anyone to check out Todd Glass on Comedy Bang Bang for the Staind Glass episodes. (It's been a whiiile)

Rageboots

I thought Ruben had the exact same powers as Stitch, but with a higher intelligence and all he wants to do is chill and make sandwiches

Ramen

As a Xennial Stitch (79), we own STP and the grunge scene, and were quite injured by your attributing those lyrics to Nu Metal Also I love you guys

Ramen

Same. I tend to feel insulted being tossed into the GenX pile. We carry a bit from both

David

“Before Disney cummed him out” thanks Caldwell

Cj Ferrigno

My rogue screams "sneak attack" every time and has such a good time with it.

Mauricio Caceres

Hard disagree with the idea that asking your friends for stuff when they move is the same as looting them: That happens literally all the time. When people move they often sell or GIVE AWAY stuff they might not want or need to take. I myself have given away or donated mattresses, clothes, a couch, some small kitchen appliances and electronics, books, tables, and so on across my moves. My friends usually have first dibs and unless it's an expensive item in really good condition I'll give it for free. Insisting on a specific item is terrible, yes, but asking what they might be leaving behind seems totally fine.

Robert de Forest

When I got up this morning, Lilo & Stitch was the farthest thing from my mind. Now I'm thinking about how I'm five years older than Stitch. I need to lie down. Like, more than usual.

Slappy Dave

In high school I receded from my friend group (which sucked since I didn't have many friends to begin with) for various reasons but an inciting incident that lost a lot of Matthew (my name) points was thus: We were playing RISK and one of the older guys (which by dumb high school rules means superior and authoritative) was losing battles then pretending to remove the units lost but actually just keeping them all in play (his sleight of hand was clever but also easy to see, easily verified by counting pieces) Which I pointed out But he kept doing it And I kept pointing it out No one else backed me and instead gassed this guy up for how good at the game he was (basically gaslighting me that no actually that isn't happening, this is a good honest person we all respect) I'm not against party game shenanigans but if you get caught you simply must own up to it and a group not enforcing against obvious cheating is corruption Needless to say I was pretty peaved (this wasn't the only thing, it's just relevant to the planted die scenario in the episode) and decided to do the Murph strat of getting new friends I had to wait until college for that unfortunately Judges, was I wrong for choosing to punish myself to solitude for the sins of others? I'm curious what would have happened if the player would have fought that battle of the planted D20

Misguided Kraken

I came to say the same thing, mostly to prove I know how to log in to my patreon

Ya Girl Olwen

The real solution for the fireball wizard is to just throw a bunch of devils at the party. They’re all immune to fire. Even funnier would be an iron golem, which is actively healed by it.

Ken W

This post / episode is missing the Short Rest tag.

Jarla

There's two popular songs called Creep. The one that was being referenced in the episode is Creep by Stone Temple Pilots not Radiohead.

Tracy Burns

Yes, I was saying the more known and popular one was by Radiohead because I thought one of them asked what the more known one was. If not my bad

Taylor Garcia

It was a lot of Stitch but not nearly as much as Flinstones in that one episode with Beardsley 😂

Helen Hnin Oo Lwin

for the record, before I listened to this I was thinking "stitch" as in crochet stitch and was wondering what a "millenial" stitch would look like.

RobTheFarm

Listen, it's really hard to log in sometimes, but that doesn't invalidate my fist shaking at the blatant misinformation regarding Creep by STP (not to be confused with Radiohead, neither of which are Nu Metal). And furthermore... (1/7)

Rafael C

"10 out of 10" I'm SCREAMING!!!. the way Emily went for Murph's throat 🗣🗣

Emma

Regarding the first case, I find it more helpful to think of HP as stamina, like how long you last in battle before you're fought out and a punch sends you down. It makes more sense when it's more abstract

Caddy Wampus

There is a RAW answer to the bowl question in Xanathar's downtime rules. You can make an item at half the cost but it takes 1 week of downtime per 50g that the item is worth. So they can make the bowl at half cost, but they have to take 20 weeks of downtime to do it.

Camilla Jefferson

that person at the end, were they wearing a human suit that’s very convincing except for little bits of green fur poking out through the seams? big g***** energy

Blaize Gordon

This episode for some reason isn't in the dungeon court Playlist

martiniimakes

This episode NEEDS to be put into the d&d court collection plz it's so good and can't hide
