zo perry

hell yeah perfect timing for the drive home 🫶🏻

KingHalt

Not me thinking it said with Daniel Radcliffe for a split second and almost screaming "Oh my God" in a public setting

Campbell

Danielle Radford?!? Hell yeah!

Lizardcera

Thank you guys for continuing to post funny stuff, I think we all need it right now 🙃

Hunter Gahr

I’ve been refreshing all day! Yay!

Alex Mayhem

I clicked instantly, even in the middle of catching up on Dimension 20!

Darion Aronson

I was literally just thinking about when the next upload was going to be like an hour ago

margot d

SO excited to see Emily and Murph tmrw at MSG!!!

Nicolas R

be careful about making references around Murph, last time I did he bit me

Just Aiden

Love me some DnD court for my bday! 💜

Zoë Brouns

Losing it at the apple/banana/pineapple story

Agiddysea

"The drama is eternal" is a great line.

Ryan

Yooo I liked Danielle in misfits she is perfect as a guest justice!!

Ryan

Happy birthday

Kellyd

Eeeek I feel so bad for Mr Packemup, if it had been an individual decision to turn heel I'd find it funny but agree that because it was a secret group of some people versus others it just feels mean :( I wouldn't have stormed off but def would have quietly overthought and been sad

FusRohNahSon

you can hook up with DMs...after the frontal lobe developes...of all parties

Sam Ninegar

These guests don’t miss

Ollie

Omggg Danielle Radford!!!! So excited 🥰🥰🥰

Kellyd

you're taking dungeon court wayyyyy too seriously. this is a comedy podcast. seems like you know where to find different genres of content that you like; your preferences don't have to be shared. how do you even know they know those other people, or that those other people haven't been asked and already declined? my god

Nemo_Nihil17

"Not you, Sean" absolutely DESTROYED me

James Drenning
>>162278365

I respect you opinion and will voice as a patreon member what i please. Ive been following since before their patreon creation. As for how do I know this or that?! I dont, hense my comment suggesting these other amazing creators. Now feel free to reply anything you want. Just so you understand most, and mine in particular, comments directed at the cast are just that. Have a great weekend.

Kellyd

You didn't suggest anything, you not only stated as fact that they haven't even attempted to reach out to other people but also managed to insult the people they have had on. Have the weekend you deserve

James Drenning
>>162278365

It will be ok kellyd. Learning to live amongst those whose ideas and beliefs differ from yours is what makes this country a wonderful place to live. May your deities bless you.

Squiggly Grehg

Thank you guys for making me read three notifications in a row all proclaiming "HOT FARTS!"

Kellyd

And you'll be okay without your favorite indie edgelords appearing on dungeon court

Papa Taylor

So when are we getting the all Boston campaign?

Diz

Oh my god, as a Bostonian born and bred the accents are making my heart clench and making me wicked hungry for some Dunks muffins

James Drenning
>>162278365

Lol what superiority. The pretentiousness from your angry comments will be a beacon of your open mindedness and inclusion. But I support your right to do so. Unfortunately there is enough negativity in the world that I must now ignore your comments going forward. I hope you do not encounter such belligerent receptions in your journey going forward.

Rafi

DANIELLEEEE 🫶🫶🫶🫶

Lindsey

I haven't taken a science class since 2010 but when Justice Axford proposed acid damage it triggered in me a (possibly false?) memory that lactic ACID is what builds up in your muscles when your blood doesn't bring enough oxygen to them so I think that might've been buttoned up??

Lindsey

I saw the Sabrina Carpenter Dunkin commercial the other day and it invoked in me such a pained longing for a Dunks iced coffee!

Gogs

When Jake asked, “Is there a world where the college isn’t Skidmore?” it was like he read my mind…I graduated decades ago, but it has to be, right?

Tony Green

I can't explain the relief I feel when I see there's a new dungeon court.

alli

caldwell: we all read the bright sword me (read the bright sword because murph recommended it): nodding (seriously though everyone should read the bright sword) (ps danielle is an excellent guest what a delight)

Grass

Hi sorry to bother you. Two points to make: 1) Danielle is so goddamn cool and I audibly screamed when I saw the title. Two: I am in nyc for the dimension 20 show AND to see my best friend. I LOVE D&D

Tyler Quebedeaux

Honestly, a Hall of Fame DnD court episode. Five stars, no notes.

Blue Bee

The DM "compromising" in the first place is so fucking wild to me in the first case, these people need to learn to just say "no, that's dumb"

Canid Duality

Now I want a scratch and sniff fart portrait in the living room to mess with guests.

Totally Offside

I really appreciated how prepared Caldwell was to make deep cut home alone references on no notice.

Canid Duality

Carbon dioxide toxicity is similar to being poisoned so I can see drowning being similar as well. Also check out Cells at Work.

Hammy

There is something so pleasant about the name, Mr. Pack ‘Em Up

Kat

I like acid damage from the blood gas perspective! Too many hydrogen ions...

Kat

Yes, and lower oxygenation/higher CO2 in the body in general is expressed as the blood getting acidic. Acid damage indeed!

Eric Pierce

Love that Murph dipped his toes into the Chaotic water with "Fartrait" to absolutely immediately pull it out when Caldwell goes full Caldwell

Ian Jones

Murph is on track w the drowning thing: in 2024e, you can hold your breath a number of minutes equal to 1+ it’s CON mod. After that, you gain 1 level of exhaustion at the end of each turn. 2014 version is the same, except instead of exhaustion the creature is now suffocating, and just straight up dies after an additional number of rounds equal to their CON mod. In either version, there is no damage, so no damage type.

Micah Allee

You don't get to be sanctimonious after starting the negativity.

thiswayjose

I know we’ve already heard a tiny bit about Jake’s one shot world, but I want them to change it to Bostin.

James Drenning
>>162278365

I appreciate your opinion but, not letting the negativity of complete strangers effect me is well within my right. Being free to release my own negative opinion, and epecting other grown adults to be able to not let it effect them is my hope and expectation. But i support your right to disagree. And I do not feel it is hypocritical to react to negativity with positivity. In fact it is a basic skill that allows us to function in all of society when having to navigate the public sphere.

gus

as a current vassar student you are right on the money this is absolutely a vassar problem

Papí

I'm so glad Caldwell made a "7 brides for 7 brothers" reference. I thought nobody else alive had heard of this movie lmao

Nicole

The "It has to be Skidmore, right?" brought me right back to the Secret Agent Gramma "Brussels Hookup," one of my personal favorite Adventure Book Theatres

ParadoxEngine

Great episode, however it would annoy me if I didn’t point it out so here I am pointing it out In the Smoke Bomb Rogue vs Devils case, the rogues are (probably) actually right that the devils wouldn’t be able to see through their smoke bombs, mechanically speaking. If we assume the smoke bombs are like these smoke grenade items https://www.dndbeyond.com/equipment/202-grenade-smoke from D&D Beyond (this assumption is why I say probably right), the smoke bomb does not create darkness but rather it creates an area that is explicitly heavily obscured. Compare this to Darkness, https://www.dndbeyond.com/spells/2058-darkness, which if you notice does not reference Heavily Obscuring the area at all. It doesn’t need to because that effect happens as a consequence of another rule in 5e which explicitly states that areas of darkness creates areas of heavy obscurement https://roll20.net/compendium/dnd5e/The%20Environment. True Sight is not affected by Darkness because the text of True Sight explicitly states that, but a creature with True Sight is not immune to heavily obscured areas or being blinded. I think this makes sense logically as the reason why a smoke bomb blocks vision is not because it creates darkness, but because it is something that is obstructing your view. This is why despite being a 1st Level Spell, Fog Cloud can be stronger than Darkness at denying enemy vision, although it lacks in other areas. With all that being said as a mechanical driven defense of the rogue, I do agree with the judges that it was fair to introduce enemies that were resistant or immune to their shenanigans and I do think that devils being adjusted to smoke due to living in hell is a fair enough narrative justification. A mechanical justification for this would’ve been to say that the enemies have Blindsight or are immune to the Blinded condition. There is even precedent in the Fog Giant statblock to have a creature that is explicitly immune to blindness from fog/mist/smoke type effects.

ACK

If used as an attack, should a poisoned fart be a bonus or even a free action in combat? Do we have detailed rules for dispersal? Many questions to answer.

Kat

"oh no, when I say something unpleasant in a public forum, I might get a response I don't like! Probably the other person's fault."

James Drenning
>>162278365

Not at all son, but I always respond with positivity. It seems to infuriate the younger generation of degens

Lia

Oh my gosh, the wrestling one shot is finally happening!

Alyssa Brake

On an airplane trying so hard not to giggle uncontrollably at this episode 🤣🤣🤣 So excited to have Danielle on NADDPOD!!

Andreshmandre

Simple ruling on one of these: DND is not about stealing girlfriends. Everyone knows that

nvsblty

you think you're responding with positivity? you're calling people pretentious and belligerent and being passive aggressive

Elana Danielle

btw just saw that emily posted her new feywild EP this week! it’s PHENOMENAL and WILL be on repeat for the foreseeable future!! every song just absolutely gorgeous i can’t get over it! and shoutout to caldwell for some absolutely STUNNING cover art! amazing work as always, gang!

Jake de Medeiros

Hey thanks for reading my question with the fruit names! The college is indeed Skidmore!

Thomas Malec

Danielle was great! I hope she comes back again!

Melaninja

I’m down to sentence the cleric for being a tattletale

Quantum OFZENTRIX

I think RAW with drowning if you run out of air you drop to 0 immediately and start making death saves. not certain though

ADHDMoth

I was so excited to see Danielle on here!! Aggressively waiting for the one-shot!! And Murph, I think Anchorman is overrated.

Gearbox

Remember, one player's "overreaction" is another player's "became despondent." Both make it clear that they're no longer having fun, one's just louder. Don't jump your friends if that wasn't established up top.

kevlar basin

Couldn't stop laughing during the first case!

Ollie

I believe there's a certain amount of time you can hold your breath (related to con) and then after that you can survive a certain number of rounds (minimum 1, again related to con). I would assume after those rounds are up if you're still in the water you would make death saves

Kitt

I would pay for a Boston one shot

El Jefe

I have an alternate suggestion to the “drowning damage” question. I see the effects of drowning being more akin to stacking debuff status conditions than as direct damage accrued. So I would probably approach it more as accruing levels of asphyxiation that scale similarly to exhaustion. As you lose get lower on air, you start to panic and get disadvantage on ability checks, then halved speed as your muscles get less oxygen and your body starts prioritizing core functions, then hit point maximum is halved as you start to get some cell death due to lack of oxygen, then speed to 0 as all non-essential functions are cut off and you go unconscious, then death. (I skipped over the third level of exhaustion and disadvantage on attacks and saving throws because I would want the negatives to stack more quickly since I would have asphyxiation set in only after they have held their breath for a while and have failed a Con save to hold off the start of asphyxiation.

El Jefe

I would also have the levels of asphyxiation wear off after a certain amount of time breathing regularly, but once you get to hit point maximum halved or worse, you would require some kind of healing/restoration to fully recover.

Nick D

I think drowning damage would be akin to poison, technically you are receiving a fatal dose of water that is dealing damge over time until you can remove it?

Zeon Liberation

Ay Ma! check out my wizaaad and his wicked Fiahbawl.

Ilana Galpert

You could have the Christian God exist as myth. You could have the Christian religion exist, the faith exist, but God not exist, you know?

xatlern

I already knew that I loved Danielle, but she had a really good vibe with you guys! I hope that you're able to have her back sometime to actually play with you, because she's great!

Iris Dewey

I love irish catholic boston wife. She is objectively correct and should be allowed to do whatever she wants

Rafael C

YES, DANIELLE!! Also some of us do know you were a paralegal before!! Really glad she's here!

Summer, Autumn Eladrin

I think people who want Jesus as a joke in DnD just aren't too familiar with the lore. Ilmater is a pretty explicit equivalent (He's broken on the rack like Jesus on the cross, is the god of opressed people, suffers for the good of everyone, etc.) Baldur's Gate 3 is pretty tongue-in-cheek with it, as some of the writings by followers of Ilmater are pretty intense. Like they are obsessed with personal piety and guilt and one of the priests is super into whipping themselves.

Summer, Autumn Eladrin

Also if you encounter the priest of Loviatar in the goblin camp playing as cleric of Ilmater, your character is into the idea of suffering and getting whipped lol

Sander Goldman

I think the smoke bomb party was right actually. Because fog clouds dont create darkness, they make the area heavily obscured, essentially physically blocking vision. Truesight doesnt have any language about a seeing through areas that are obscured. Id say let them cook.

Jess J

Not on topic: anyone else at the Gauntlet in NY right now? Where we going after??

Alex Wall

I like this version of drowning a lot! I also think the argument for Acid or Necrotic works well, since the thing that kills you is the carbon dioxide turning your blood into literal acid, but I think game wise this would be more exciting, especially if it was a con save that went up by 1 or 1d4 each round!

Nathaniel

As a Skidmore alum, I feel both attacked and seen

Courtney F.

I've been having a rough time but fart railroad really brought me back to what this silly thing called life is all about. Thanks y'all ❤️

Keith Kelly

There's a town in the Princes of the Apocalypse adventure called "Womford." It was originally "Wyrmford," so my D&D group decided the only way you can get "Womford" from "Wyrmford" is if everyone has a Boston accent. So now any time I run a D&D game, anyone from Womford sounds like they're from Boston.

Helene A

My boyfriend (and DM) is agreeing loudly with you 😄

Lorelei and Kyra Newly Weds

For drowning characters I do temporary STR loss with 0 resulting in death still. It's to signify the lack of oxygen reaching the muscles as you're light goes out

Sy Delta Parkertron

Just wanted to validate Emily with medical science: when you are suffocating your blood actually does become more acidic due to a build up of carbon dioxide which forms an acid when dissolved in water!

hey!

Suffocation deals no damage! You just are at 0 right? Oh murph is saying this as I type it love you guys

Jay Rieve

Also poison damage because c02

daniel munchinsky

All the boston talk was so funny for me to listen to. In the 3+year dnd group ive been running, for some reason i decided that halflings have a boston accent very early on. And campaign 2 which was a very horror themed campaign, was set in the halfling country. so almost every NPC they interacted with in this wretched world of darkness and pain had a loud boston accent. it was incredible, especially during the intense showdowns XD

Kelley

"And now you're getting baptized, and is that bludgeoning damage?" Tears of laughter

Turner Tush

When tissue becomes hypoxic(deprived of oxygen) it will become necrotic eventually. Your blood would also become more acidic cuz of co2 build up. Water in the lungs causes your larynx to spasm which i could make the argument would cause internal bludgeoning damage from violent coughing and aspiration. That would be the immediate damage/pain when you are conscious and drowning. The acidosis and necrosis would come much later. Idk im just an emt

Amelia Granato

legally distinct home alone one shot 😭

Kyle David Perry

That last punishment is a real fruit basket upset.

A.J.

i'm in my 4th year of uni getting my bachelors degree in immunology and i second that drowning is acid damage!

Kelsey McNeil

I love Caldwells Boston accent so much 😂

Smiththebat

Acid damage makes sense for drowning as you go into respiratory acidosis (where your blood becomes acidic because you can’t remove enough carbon dioxide) when you asphyxiate but necrotic and poison are fun too!

Cook

Pear at Pineapples party when they got caught making out with Blueberry: “I think Applesauce”

Olivia M

As a scientist (who studies hypoxia) I was actually impressed by Emily’s knowledge! Don’t worry I don’t judge y’all’s science knowledge I don’t know anything about podcasting lol

Katie P.

I think categorizing drowning as a type of damage isn't fun and it would make me really tired as the DM

Tara

I think if you MUST put death via deprivation (like lack of sleep, starvation/thirst, no oxygen) into more specific mechanics than what is already given in the books is that you would be dead via reaching too many levels of exhaustion. You can die of exhaustion when going purely by the rules but it’s not any type of ddamage, it’s exhaustion.

A Really Cool Rock

Yall would love to watch 'Soupe Opera'. Fruit n veggies making art in stop motion!!

Cooper Erikson

With the case involving all the fruit names all I could think about is "DnD ISN'T ABOUT STEALING GIRLFRIENDS." from the other court episode.

Cooper Erikson

There is precedent that suffocating is bludgeoning damage in the ruels. Spells that suffocate generally do bludgeoning damage.

Melissa Shilale

The overlapping boston accents, beautiful

Anthony

I agree. Creatures from cold regions have an ability that let's them see and move through all effects that cold produces so there is precedence for an ability that allows that but as far as I know fire creatures don't have anything like that

Summer Tribe

Why would drowning deal damage at all? It's asphyxiation. There are rules for that. Also it's wild that Em read the rules and they still got the truesight thing wrong. RAW, these devils can't see thru smoke. It's obscurity, not darkness. That simple

Shopping Dog

Im late as hell but I have to comment and say that truesight has no effect on physical forms of obscurement, such as smoke and fog. The smoke bomb party was in the right. HOWEVER, the GM should have absolutely stood their ground and simply told the rogues that these particular devils can see through smoke and fog.

Sam

God i love you guys "fart in my toilet not my towels"🤣

J. Gro

I know who you are, Danielle! And that you worked as a paralegal! Mentopolis was an incredible season on D20!!

Danny Storm

Veggie tales minus the catholicism

yeow

“Roll for insight to see if Blueberry’s a big BITCH” lmfaoooooo

yeow

As a Bostonian, I can accept the accents.

Max Herzog

Caldwell is on fire. I also like to cheat cheat cheat with apples and bananas 😂😂

Lilli of the bog

"sticky" is a really funny wrong word there though

Joshua Miller

Supporting Justice Axford and her desire to make water damage acid… she’s got science behind her! As you drown (ie not breathing) you will also build up carbon dioxide in your system. The pH in your blood becomes more acidic as CO2 builds. Source: I’m a nurse :)

Michael Graham Abernathy

I'm sad that it doesn't seem like any of them got the "cheat, cheat, cheat with apples and bananas" joke.

Michael Graham Abernathy

The vegetables themselves aren't Catholic. A friend of a friend worked for Big Idea, and they had an internal rule (maybe unofficial? Idk) that they could never explicitly state that the vegetable characters themselves were Christian, since only humans can be Christian. Lol.

Kathryn Martin

You hear Boston accent, I hear Joey Wheeler. We aren’t the same *puts on shades*

Fxd Gear Queer

Right you are! Apple is a fucking snitch!

Old Man Ballz 03

The fruit salad scenario remains one of my favorite moments of all dnd court
