First

Dingo

@Emily I also save video games for winter and just indulge

LM Larson

Chartreuse ! my favorite liqueur 💚

Alec Krance

Murph, you should try Pantheon Rise of the Fallen. It's meant to be a spiritual successor to EverQuest

The Grinch (feral)

Personally I imagine that healing potions taste like children’s liquid Motrin. It’s like a very distinct sweet taste that’s like good but weird but kinda addictive??? Idk I was mad when I had to switch off of it to Big Boy Drugs™️

Lindsey

A game bar with game/drink pairings is actually a really solid pitch, i'd invest (some eggs)

Thermovore

I’m loving Skaldova so much. Jake is such a good DM, I can’t believe it’s his first go of it. Welly is adorable, Zudric is charmingly bizarre, and Boggy is genuinely my favorite ever Caldwell character. Amazing voice, immaculate vibes, disturbing surprises. It’s the full package. Thanks so much for all the work you’re doing on this side quest. I would listen to a full campaign of the Zu cru

Autumnis_Prime

“amazing voice, immaculate vibes, disturbing surprises” stealing that phrasing to use as my bio on dating apps

yeow

Murph, as a fellow hockey fan, the Finnish Long Drink was brought over to the States commercially by former Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask.

Unloved

I was thinking healing potions tasked like amoxicillin. That very tasty pink medicine that I loved to take as a kid

Ben Heggen

Mine too! The story behind it is so cool as well.

LM Larson

I agree. I feel like I'm in a period movie because I just sip it straight from a tiny cordial glass.

Terrell Swanson

I'm with Murph, EverQuest is still fun. I just made a new character in EQ2 after so long and it's great

Infernal

There was no boggys bud's story this week and I am heartbroken

Adam!!!!!

i need emily to play cinnamon again, he was so fucking funny

Shel B Kennas fav SG wishing you a happy Bog-oween

yes! winter is my solitary, cocoon activities. I live in the PNW so we have a limited good weather window, it can make indoor stuff feel not as good to engage with knowing i only have 3 months of outside time to enjoy

Pop

Welly is just constantly down bad

Michael P Mendoza

I'm glad I'm not the only weirdo who likes interesting teeth

Alexis Rausch

As an archaeologist, I'm mad that I agree with Caldwell's last statement

Ross Wright

I'm curios on yalls thoughts on the new runescape game

Paavo Rahman

Finland mentioned! I think every fin +18y has tasted long drink (Lonkero).

Dag Swanials

Loving this mini campaign also! Gotta shout of Caldwell, I love him as Boggy

Dag Swanials

Bravo to the whole cast! Loving these characters and Jake has made an amazing world! Amazing!

Christian Wade Miller

The Naked and Famous is the shit. Equal parts mezcal, aperol, yellow chartreuse, and lime

Michael Beck

Amethyst might be something boggy is into because it was held as a charm in Roman times to ward off hangovers and being too drunk

Xaiver Broadhorn

Maaaan hearing my name be the name of someone thats a piece of shit and bad brother suuucks man. Feels weird saying this but i hope the cast kicks Braxtons (mine) ass

Clever Innuendo

I would describe the Long Drink more as an alcoholic Fresca.

NathanS

i live by a river that does not flow/connect to an ocean in any way

NathanS

my river story✊

nvsblty

boggy is such a glue guy

Pali Endi

Throw an egg white with some yellow chartreuse, serve it up *chef kiss*

Doctor Ransom

Emily always is tuned to the good good shit with Sex Education, shout out to Ncuti Gatwa and Aimee Lou Wood! Also big bartender hug to Emily, Naked & Famous is one of my favorites. Here’s the recipe if you want a kick ass libation when you’re chilling in your Carnal Corner! ¾ oz Mezcal ¾ oz Yellow Chartreuse ¾ oz Aperol ¾ oz Lime Juice Shake with ice and strain into a chilled coupe

Alec Rudek

For the love of God PLEASE bring back cinnamon and his good bois

John Brownlee

shout out to biking along the C&O canal!

Ian Mcilwean

A Finnish long drink is gin and grapefruit soda. The cranberry is just a twist on the orginal drink. I don't know if that makes it more appealing but I used to drink them all the time.

Felix Adams

We had such a wild short rest last week that hearing this one talk so much dnd that I had to check I didn’t skip a short rest😭😂😂

Evan

Got hyped as fuck when Caldwell mentioned the Finnish Long Drink but tbh he didn't describe it well, it's pretty much a boozy grapefruit soda! It actually tastes very similar to Squirt, really refreshing

Adam Scull

Jake. I don’t know if you knew or not but amethyst is supposed to promote safe travels. So it’s kinda cool it’s in there

Alex Mangin

Fun facts about Chartreuse! It not only was created by monks but they kept the recipe to themselves in a sheltered monastery in France and to this day they still take a vow of silence and make Chartreuse out of local plants (hence the natural bright green colour)

Z Carthy

The canned Long Drink is absolutely delicious

Alex W

LOVE a Long Drink, the only gin drink i can abide by

Stephen C suggests The Thing on the Fourble Board

The long drink got me thinking about a cocktail I discovered during the pandemic: the north Norwegian depression. 1 part Cointreau, 1 part aquavit, 2 parts gin, a dash of lime juice, top off with sprite, serve over ice.

Jesse Heasly

Hey there centaurs! I live by the Kennebec river in Maine, and it's tidal. It flows north as the tide comes in and south on the way out. The water roils around aimlessly at the turning point. In the winter big hunks of ice flow up the river in the morning and back out in the afternoon. Thats my river story

Professor Pratt

Canadian Geese hiss! I’ve dealt with them on golf courses in Mass.

Professor Pratt

Rivers Phoenix and that’s my river story. However I did grow up and still live along the Merrimack River in Mass and NH. I used to run along the Charles River in Boston in the 90s.

Hugo Wull

Bring them back for a Weezer one shot

Alex Weatherhead

The Hudson flows both ways! The Lenape name for it is Mahicanituck (sp?) which translates to “ the river that flows two ways”

Shel B Kennas fav SG wishing you a happy Bog-oween

Canadian geese are dicks confirmed: When I used to life guard at a water park we would draw short straws to see who had to chase off the geese before opening and when it was my turn one of the geese was so mad it pecked me as it honked and I still have the scar on my calf 10 years later

Kerri

I agree with Emily. I love interesting teeth. I used to doodle when I’d watch dimension 20 and I had a little page of sketches of all the cast members mouths. Just to practice drawing different mouth movements. But drawing Murph’s mouth with his tight sort of half smirk was a favorite, and you could tell whose mouth it was without the rest of the face.

Professor Pratt

Please dealing with your shit is minor. You literally hit us with dragon pussy in Ep 1. That image has been forever burned in my head.

St Avrel

Boggy has to be one of my favorite characters to date! He’s so funny and I love how such a simple mindset! “Whats this shiny thing I can sell for a feast?”

Alexis

omg I looked up Long Drink to see if I could buy some to try and it turns out I’ve been drinking it the whole time 😂 the one we drink says “Cool Grape” in big letters and smaller cursive underneath that says “long drink,” but I usually recognize the can by its blue and white stripes

Alexis

There’s also a yellow pineapple flavored one - I can’t decide which I like more

Matt Pearce

Chartreuse. The only drink so good they named a colour after it.

Nicole Castonguay

My Covid cocktail was also an old fashioned, and then slowly just transitioned to whiskey on the rocks

SPECTRESOUND

Building on this - it's because the Hudson is technically a fjord, not a river!

Thomas Jager

My COVID cocktail was definitely whiskey sours, either with egg white or chickpea water.

BlackBandit228

I don't play pathfinder and know nothing about it. What superman equivalent character from pathfinder were they referencing when they were talking about Cinnamon?

Nickopalypse

Holy crap I fucking loved Everquest! ^.^ The hours I spent waiting for Fippy Darkpaw to spawn!

Robert

fun camp though

Nickopalypse

Yep, hours of sitting alone waiting, then the instant he spawned, high levels would port in, steal the kill in seconds and port out again. I don't think I ever got that earring.

Nickopalypse

I tried going back to EQ2. It looked _sooo_ bad, and that was about 15 years ago!! :) I did stick around for a few weeks though. It was so quiet in there! Fun times.

JustSomeKnob

Spanish coffees were my Covid cocktail. It takes time but it’s well worth it

Nikki Michelle

Caldwell, I was envisioning the exact same thing for the river flowing both ways lmao

Ilana Galpert

dragons can turn into people, which makes me wonder if this dragon had some alt identity. from the alchemist to the princess herself idk

Choc DISCO

Okay, weird question. Could you guys do an episode where you cut Jake to see if he is really made of cake? I’m kinda curious.

Hammy

I appreciate the thoughtful episode discussion but I signed up for the Patreon to hear you guess when the prestige came out.

Ally B

I live on the Bay of Fundy, which has the largest tides in the world, and it does make the river flow backward! The Saint John River (or the Wolastoq) has something called the Reversing Falls, which is a waterfall and a portion of the river that flows in the opposite direction at high tide. It also gets more dramatic with rain or snow melt. Fun river facts!

aiyana graham art

obsessed with the sourcerers being ruby and sapphire fusing into garnet from steven universe

Courtney F.

Did anyone actually believe Brian "Inside Kid" Murphy had a river story? 🤣

Eat Your Art Veggies

Please bring back Cinnamon and the Twin Flames! Maybe for mini/micro arcs between campaigns?

SimpleWater

Naked and famous is my favourite cocktail! That was my pandemic cocktail.

Grass

YES Emily I was also admiring those teeth back in sex Ed!!!!!!!

J. Gro

It's interesting that some rivers can reverse with tides/flooding. I imagine that could only happen on relatively flat rivers (as opposed to those in/near mountains) or near the oceans. Fun fact: the continental divide (in North America, the Rocky Mountains) dictates which direction the rivers flow. West of the Rockies -> Pacific, East -> Atlantic. This has been your geography lesson for the day.

Ahmad Al-mousawi

Wow the spoilers in the and made me mad (just kidding)

lexapalooza

I work for the superior courts in the NJ - and Fez hats lately are synonymous with sovereign citizens. So whenever I see one, I know it's going to be a time

Scott Pateros

In the early 1900s Chicago completely reversed the flow of the Chicago River, permanently making it flow in the opposite direction.

Eric Peterson

I'm always here for the EQ references. Ghoulbane was a sick sword. I still have nightmares of trying to Invis vs Undead my was all the way down to the bottom of Lower Guk to get into a frenzied ghoul group, and getting that message that my Invis was starting to drop while a bunch of undead frogloks drooled at me, ready to strike was soon as I appeared. No one can understand that terror unless you lived it.

Melissa Shilale

Instead of telling people I’m bi I’m gonna say I’m a river who flows both ways

Michael Beck

I love all the botanical language you use Jake, It really brings something special to your descriptors. Stuff you might be interested in looking up though are things like Dodder and Fire-blight. Plants have crazy cool diseases that I always like to use when I dm.

William Holland

I've decided what I want to hear most in this campaign is Boggy "pitching woo" to an NPC. Hearing Caldwell try to flirt as Boggy would be hilarious to hear.

Clotilde

Emily's wlw characters always make my bisexual heart soar.

Jacob Leeser

Boggy Fact: Stilts were invented to walk in bogs, and stay above the soft wet ground. Largely used by shepherds.

Victoria Shotts

Guys, I know I'm super late to this, but Long Drink is Gin and that's why it's more distinguished!! Caldwell is being wrongfully razzed

Tijay Arnie

I've not watched White Lotus, but when they mentioned the girl with interesting teeth I immediately thought of the right person because I also knew her from Sex Education

Libbi Longworth

No you're right to be scared of Canada Geese. They're eldritch horrors. Or cobra chickens. My mom once had to beat one with her purse to stop it attacking my brother when he was a toddler.

SolemnSeagull

I live near the Mouth of the Columbia River. Because the tide can affect the river up to 100 miles Upstream (near the edge of The Gorge), there's a large area that actually does change direction every 6 hours. Ships anchored near Astoria swing on their anchors as it ebbs and flows, which also causes the ships to face a different direction every 6 hours. (They always face up-current, as the anchor is on the bow) Sometimes, they need assistance to not swing into the shipping lanes as the tide is turning, so smaller boats go out to push them.

SolemnSeagull

I, on the other hand, am a river who flows ALL ways.

Dr. Bearkele

Haha, I moved to Finland 16 years ago so I love that Caldwell's tried lonkero (the long drink)! If anyone's wondering, it's a gin drink. The original is gin and white grapefruit, and the second rendition came out with cranberry. Nowadays there are a lot of flavors though. And Jake's not wrong... lots of Finns probably do drink them at 8 a.m. There's a big drinking problem in this country x)

J. Gro

For anyone who finds gemstones interesting, you should look up the star garnet! It's the official state gem of the Gem State (Idaho), and the only other place it's found in the world is in the Himalayan Mountains. :D

Lilli of the bog

It would have been great with fresca before they ruined it by making it all sugar free

Alyx

My dad wrote the music for EverQuest and I spent so much time when I was a kid looking at the game , wearing the merch. The mention just brought back such a fun wave of nostalgia for me.

Matty Ewald

I NEED you guys to revist pathfinder with cinnamon and his twin flames

AgedGouda

The critting on unlocking the door just to get blasted by a trap feels just like it could be a DnD court case. Like someone submits the case and they’re furious that the nat 20 didn’t count for disarming the trap automatically 🤣

Walker Thurman

Emily said that Chartreuse is “the color you’re thinking of” but Jake clearly is thinking of red, which is a common Mandela effect where people think chartreuse is red instead of the pale yellow green it is in our reality

Nick Lerche

I've been drinking Finnish long drinks all month I had no idea they came up! Just in time for skaldova season 2!

Kyrulius

“I had faith in Boggy….just not in Caldwell….”

Fanwithglasses

Naddpod is the best medicine to help with a bad day.
