Summer Tribe

Using the most difficult monster in the game only to not use the features that make it stand out is an interesting choice. I guess it's a good way to make the monster strong but not require a whole questline just to figure out how to beat it

Summer Tribe

I'm so glad this is so off topic

Nick

turtles CAN love, my veins are popping!

Crane

You guys really brighten my day, with every silly thing try you do. Baked Brussel sprouts with baked apples are also a great side dish.

Douglas kirk

As a fellow zard appreciation-but-never-will-own-again who had an iguana as a kid, I have to tell you about this YouTube channel: https://m.youtube.com/channel/UCH18915fTE6yZzKrqdea8RQ I will never get one of these squamates, but I very much enjoy the descriptions of their behavior and the tutorials on building enclosures because something inside me is fundamentally broken. Enjoy!

If the Boobs are done with Kongo Bongo then maybe its time for the ultimate challenge: Metal City

James Wagner

I’m not a superstitious person but I’m convinced that Henry liking the bills has made them do as well as they have this season it’s great to finally see them doing good

Noah Harrison

We still need to save the mole city!! Where is our mole city oneshot

Emily Lalande

I hate that I know exactly what dance move Emily's doing, because I also tried to learn breakdancing when I was 10 and could only ever do that and one move of balancing on my head

PUMPKN

I've taken care of turtles and they know only eat and hate. I would feed them goldfish and the only joy they ever exhibited was holding the fish in its mouth while using its claws to shred away parts of the squirming fish. If there is a hell, it's a turtle paradise.

Alex

I just have to say.. the image of DK’s severed head descending from the ceiling will never leave me. It will be the last thing that flashes behind my eyes before I die, I just know it.

Linds

This is so random but I just gotta say, my favorite thing to do is read the comments before I listen to the short rests... they’re always so random and make no sense and they brighten my day so much. So thank you to not only the cast (who also always brighten my day), but to all of you who comment

tonytheoneandonly

No lie I sat down and started working on my Terrarium right at 2:30 when Murph mentioned a Terrarium booth 😅

DemonLordSparda

This comment is for Murph. However, good work everyone! Idea for another one of these: I propose leaning fully into Bloodborne Beast stuff with Donkey Kong turning everything into Zards from the forest. It could be fun, you can even bring back Funky as a Donkey Kong creation.

Diana

Just throwing this out there: Bahumia map v2 featuring Kongo Bongo Island

Austin Johnson

Everything just goes in circles. A bitter and rejected Zard Donkey Kong becomes the next King K Rool and reignites the cycle of violence he tried to stop. Obviously Zard Donkey Kong needs to break the wheel, like Daenerys, and sweep across Kongo Bongo Island with his dragons.

Alex aka Zol Ark

I was honestly hoping they would talk about the time they joked about what would happen if Caldwell put a red DK tie on a gorilla!!! 🦍😩🥺 Times like this I miss 8-bit book club.

Nolan Childerhose

These episodes are always delightful, but between the Donkey Kong nostalgia and Emily shouting out Ologies, I was grinning the whole time.

Jeffrey Steck, Lord of the Fjord

Next live show, hoping to see Emily's break move, Caldwell do the worm, Jake rap, and Murph jump into a moving van with a lightsaber.

Lauren Carian

Oh my God. It was so refreshing to hear the Boobs again! As far as other adventures for the Boobs go, and this just might be me pandering to Emily, 8Bit and my love of Final Fantasy, but I'd love to see either an FF6 cross over or an FF7 cross over. Like the Boobs going to the Opera house

Josiah Henderson

My girlfriend has been in dance since she was 4, and this episode validated her.

Vonvonvon

NEXT YEAR CAN WE GET A MARIO THEMED SMASH-UP. THINK OF ALL THE POSSIBILITIES... BEV BECONING PALS WITH TOAD, HARDWON WRESTLING BOWSER, MOONSHINE HOOKING UP WITH PEACH, BALNOR GETTING SMASHED WITH MARIO, AND LAST BUT CERTAINLY NOT LEAST PAWPAW RIDING YOSHI!

Julie V Eckert

I can 100 percent picture the dance move Emily was doing lol!! In the musical theater club I was in in college our choreographers called them "b-boys"

G

Real late to the party, but my version of asparagus: - Bunch of asparagus, cut into 1" chunks - Dash of white wine vinegar - Lemon juice - 2-3 cloves garlic - Sea salt - Black pepper to taste - Red pepper flakes to taste Fry that shit in a pan until you think it's good on a bit of olive oil.

James Marshall

Turtles are the paladins of the reptile world. By the Light of Bahamut, I will defend their honor until the day I DIE.

Wandering Giant

What a legendary intro to this short rest. Also, Emily has got to play some Lizardfolk for us!

Will Day

We are 100% team Zard, kinda a given as snake parents.

Cole Wohlfiel

The worm definitely gave strong Nyaack vibes, making me miss trinyvale :,(

Sara

My mum has a sulphur crested cockatoo with an expected 50+ year lifespan (he's 7) that I am set to inherit the responsibility for. I don't know that he is capable of love, but he is capable of both affection (he likes to nuzzle and do little kiss-y noises) and breaking fingers if he isn't getting affection.

Madison Pike

All the talk of hopping up on a Broadway stage reminds me of that news story a few years back where a guy hopped up on stage at a Broadway play because he saw a fake electric plug on one of the sets and tried to plug in his iPhone

Matthew Cheesman

I love you guys so much. I look forward to these short rests every week. You are the best, most ridiculous, most wonderful content creators out there. Thank you.

D.S.

Emily is the queen of the "Top Rock" breakable move.

Ruth

I’ve never been more compelled to comment before this, but I relate so much to Emily’s dance class experience. I was a pretty accomplished dancer (and performed the nutcracker many times), but in an advanced dance class age 15 surrounded by adults, we had to do cartwheels, which was a skill I’ve just truly never been able to do.. and the teacher made me still walk across the floor attempting to cartwheel while everyone else was actually able to cartwheel.. traumatising tbh

Campbell D

Also started ballet at age 11 and was absolute garbage. Thanking the dance gods my teachers never made me go across the floor on my own!!! Emily, your teacher was just cruel, it’s their fault you’re not currently a professional breakdancer!

Ryan Coogan

Your idea for an RP Metal City Mayhem is so good, I really really hope you end up going ahead with it.

Micah Edmonds

Well if y'all do a Sonic One Shot, could you run it with Ben Schwartz?

Rachael

I am legit crying at the Nutcracker bit 😂😂😭

jaydon

Is there a tier of you guys just Shootings the shit

Devin Awe

I would love a supercut of all of the times they've discussed their funerals.

Arwyn Robinson

Every single episode I think Murph is going to forget to introduce Caldwell and I'm always so impressed that he remembers. Also team zard because turtles smell pretty gnarly. You'll be hard pressed to find a stinky lizard. I would 100% pay so much money for a patron tier to watch the zoom call recording of the short rest, and Emily's break dancing transition move really drives this need home.

Adam

I think retrieval team 22 should do a one shot in circuit city!!!

Abe C

Always so good! People don’t realize the skill required for the worm and the risks with it. While making a dance party video to stay connected with students at the start of quarantine in the spring, I smashed my face against the ground while doing the worm that left me with a trip to the hospital and 3 stitches in my eyebrow.

tacticalgrandma

I cried laughing during the nutcracker discussion. Also, since the twitch livestreams were mentioned- are those archived anywhere? I know twitch deletes vods fast, but I'd love to rewatch the scrub battle & metal city mayhem (which I'm voting for completing as an adventure book first!)

Michael Singer

Been listening to the first short rests and was wondering if the most visual moment segment could come back? I’d love to hear :)

Canadian Schubert the Mushroom 🍄

You HAVE to finish Metal City Mayhem! I need this! Also, you gotta post that live one you did with Zac Oyama. I need it!

Ayn Like Ryan

As a ballerina, this was the best short rest episode I've ever heard! Also Emily, your dance teacher telling you to just "walk across the floor", is more of a bad light on your teacher than on you and your abilities as a dancer.

Whitney Peterson

I had a vivid flashback to my 5th grade doing ballet (after many years) and my teacher who hated me for being "disruptive" wouldn't let me do the snowflake twirl across the stage which was the most fun part because "I couldn't do it well enough". Also a heads up that there was a filled version of the nutcracker ballet starring Home Alone's own, macaulay culkin, in the role of the nutcracker, which I watched religiously as a child and still have very fond memories for. Might I say, my excitement if you ever did a nutcracker themed one shot, my excitement would be tantamount

Whitney Peterson

Sad that high kicks were mentioned in this short rest in regards to the nutcracker but Bev's dancing/single high kick from the beginning of the ep wasn't mentioned as a ripe 🍌. I was DYINGG

Asia Aoki

Murph’s “EMILY OH NOOO” in reaction to Emily’s dance story was truly the most wholesome 🥺😭

Jack Campau

If retrieval team 22 went to Kongo Bongo Island I would absolutely love to see what Jens does. Seems like Caldwell knows plenty of the lore anyway

Felix

Emily - oh noooooooooooo 😂

Jomalar

TURTLES CAN LOVE.

Robin Greer

My aunt did the worm at a wedding once and ended up flashing everyone cause she was wearing a dress

Andrew Gilson

Brian Murphy you are a gift to us all. I’m waiting impatiently for Pawpaw’s EP.

Charlie Pow

First post but of course Emily listens to oologies. I adore you even more now.

Devynn Hanson

It made me so happy to to hear the boobs again! Thanks!!! Murph you are a treasure and I would love to see Emily’s dance. Seems like something I would do. And both of Jake’s speeches in the episode were amazing and I love how serious Caldwell kept taking it

Vince Mascoli

Please let the next one shot be the BoBs in the world of the Nutcracker

All Wen

Lizards are to Emily as horses are to BrendaElizabeth

Johan Gidlöf

I loved the 8-bit book club references. Please watch something stupid with jake and discuss it

Cristian Perez

I pay to be in on these conversations. Best damn money I’ve ever spent.

Her Majesty, Claudette

I'd love to see the Boobs have to do a ridiculously hard fight but have Mee Maw, Leukanis, and Pendergreens there.

Bob C

"Wriggle for Christ" made me choke on my noodles.

Lizzy French

Team Zard, I have a bearded dragon and we used to have a chameleon. 🦎

Lisquander

I cannot begin to describe the guttural noise that I made when Emily talked about the “in between move” LMFAOO

Lexi

Ahhh yes finish Metal City Mayhem lolol I love any and all 8 Bit Bookclub references. ... The in between move 😂 cracks me up! Maybe one day there could be... BoB in Castlevania!!! I love these BoB returns so much.

Brendan Watroba

Yugo kills Retrieval Team 22 for Crickmas???

Bob Crossen

The conversation about doing the worm on stage in the middle of a Broadway play reminded me of a friend from college who always joked about having several ways you could earn his "eternal respect." One was staying the night at a friend's house and replacing all the family photos with photos of yourself (this would require premeditation and measuring of photo sizes). Another was rollerskating through a mall until you are physically restrained. I think doing the worm on the Broadway stage during a performance would 100% be on this list.

Tonks

metal city mayhem!!!!!!! yes yes yes please!!

Tobias

"Why not a worm in the nutcracker? Theres a rat!" So true

Stephanie Kocsik

Emily, you gotta keep deep diving into the world of reptiles! Read ‘Stolen World: A Tale of Reptiles, Smugglers, and Skullduggery”!

Jeff Merrill

What about a Castlevania One-shot?

Margaret Smith

I think i’ve found the next iteration of the DK specials... file:///var/mobile/Library/SMS/Attachments/fc/12/EB9E895D-B4D6-41E4-A0AF-240E4F0CD946/IMG_1810.JPG

Gabriel Wykle

We have a 130lb, 23 year old sulcata. What I can say is that he certainly recognizes us as providers of food and safety. However, tortoises (and turtles) do not have the ability to "love" like humans do. The way that it was described to me was that reptiles do not associate action to emotion. Our tortoise knows us, trusts us, enjoys when we touch his neck, etc. It is difficult not to anthropomorphize his behavior as love, but alas.

Mae B

We had to learn ballroom dancing at my highschool and at least once at all of our dances someone would request the song we learned swing dancing to and everyone would just start swing dancing

Genaro Morales

Team turt and I love that they mention Ologies!
