Frank

Anonymous

Anonymous

Guys, I was not emotionally ready for the 8 Bit intro!

Abby Reeves

As someone who vaguely remembers this show, this is great.

Jessica B

As someone who has been listening to 8-bit book club to fall asleep pretty much every night for the last 2+ years this intro on new content made me so happy

C.J. Schneider

YOU FUCKERS MADE ME DARK NUT OVER HERE 8BBC THEME GAVE ME WHIPLASH

H-Train

i’ve been relistening to 8bbc as it’s my favorite podcast and the WHIPLASH i just felt when i heard the intro was immaculate

Lauren

Gasped so loud at the intro song!! I still listen to 8bbc all the time. It’s cool, it’s hip, and I enjoyed it!!

Joe

They gone and done it. They made a podcast about that book!

H-Train

the only thing that would make this better is if emily had dental work right before it

Taleisha G

I agree with Emily sonic underground was amazing

Brandon Wiens

Hey so, I was RIGHT in the demographic this was aimed at and you guys have brought me soooooo much nostalgia. As sooon as I saw the theme of this mixed bag I broke into song!

Taleisha G

Yall better watch the first episode one day

Hrishi Venkatesh

Sonic Underground ruled. I legit listen to the intro sometimes, just to get pumped up.

Cameron McEwan

I thought this mixed bag was very funny about some old sonic show and was curious what the character designs looked like. Looked it up and omg I’ve 100% watched and loved this show as a kid but I remember NOTHING about it.

Taleisha G

Oh you should watch sonic X! You’ll get a kick outta that one

Dave Johnson

That last bit with Jake's shorts. I was laughing so hard I could not catch my breath

sesamese

what does this episode of mixed bag and Sonic Underground have in common?: having the best intro theme songs of all time

Anonymous

I had never heard of Sonic underground and listened to the intro thinking it'd be just a fun doot doot. No it is quite possibly the GREATEST rock ballad for a goddamn 90's cartoon that could've ever been written.

Carter Carscadden

Hi i hope you all know hearing the 8bit theme made me tear up /pos <333333

Samuel Jasek
>>56564865

I did send them a sonicX dvd before their old podcast ended. So Caldwell may have that somewhere

Samuel Jasek

Murph unironically could take the idea of the sonic underground universe and make a good campaign from it

Makeitsweat

the thing with mj and the sonic soundtrack was that mj didn't like the sound quality of the sega and didn't want his name tied to it

Daisy Jago

the theme song. holy shit. i just had vivid sensory flashbacks to walking around coventry in late summer 2018 eating the greatest pretzel in the world and listening to the mortal kombat episode where emily plays her song about sub zero

Dave 3D Art

Weird that it doesn't start with episode 1 on Paramount plus. They're all free on YouTube legitimately on the WildBrain channel. Guess P+ only has the later half.

Max Weisskopf

I nearly cried at that intro. The flashbacks!

Randall Reed

Mad nostalgia I’m going to cry

AJ

As someone that just discovered and almost finished all of 8bit book club in about 2 months that intro made me feel so confused in the best way possible

Karma Kamille

Not me almost crying at the intro 😂

Teddy Kwong

I was starting to get into the 8 bit book club archive and I was pleasantly surprised by the intro

Vilaykham Sukhaseum

The intro made me so happy but when Jake said he was deep in the Wikipedia page, I knew we were deep into 8bit territory! Also, I minored in Video Game Studies and if I remember correctly, we learned in VG history that Sonic was Sega's response to Nintendo's Mario. He was supposed to attract an older edgier audience. Anybody remembers: "Sega does what Nintendon't"? (But please don't quote me on this)

Nour

As soon as you mentionned the gun instruments I realised that I had seen an episode of this ages ago... in the original French, because I'm French. From what I remember that didn't make it any less insane.

Ben Steen

8BIT BOOK CLUB 😭 Gang, you just made my week with that intro!

Calum Gillies

I started playing this while I was still lying in bed this morning and I leaped out while shouting YUS-AH! When I heard that intro

Garga Lenoir

@Jake You were in an episode with the proper intro. That means you're not guesting anymore, you're an 8bits book bud This show was super cringy in French. It was called "Sonic le rebelle" and smelled like desperation to appear cool and edgy. Sonic had this shitty exageratted teen voice that switched to a blatantly middle aged one for the songs. Joueur du Grenier (French AVGN) made a very fun video about it (it has English subtitles) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qgSX5X52Cs4&ab_channel=JoueurDuGrenier

ReadyPrintGame

Dunno if someone has already pointed this out, but going back to MANIC and SONIA’s names: splitting them in half gives you SO NIC and MA NIA. Sonic Mania is a game that came out in 2017. Crazy to think how far ahead they were planning.

AJ

Ugh, Emily being both bashful and pleased about her enjoyment of this is so funny and adorable. All hail the Lord of Chaos!

Anonymous

Y'all truly should go and make a Sonic Metal City Underground One-Shot for Thanksgiving or something... Permanent Haste for everybody, maybe?

Sean Cullen

This episode was so funny, it really made me miss 8 bit book club 💔

Anonymous
>>56561244

Wow can't believe I'm not the only person to do this. I was so familiar with the 8bit intro honestly I didn't even notice that they had used it this mixed bag until I listened back hahaha.

Anonymous

DAMN the 8 bit book club theme took me off guard

adrian aguilar

AAAAAGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!! How I've missed that theme song

Tyler Foster

Hearing them talk about triplets and love triangles and CW really made me think of Charmed lmao

Daniel Green

OK the bit at the end with Jake and his shorts 🤣😂🤣😂 I was laughing at too hard at that bit for sure. I always wondered why this sonic cartoon was so very strange (and bad) compared to the other 2 (one was dark and had an interesting story, the other was extra looney toons style).

Alex aka Zol Ark

Holy fuck I almost cried at work after listening to the opening of this sode!!! Also you didn’t mention how one of the henchmen was sooo in love with Sonia!!!! (This memory has cursed me for years....)

Grant Klein

8 bit book club makes me so happy I’m irrationally thrilled that the theme song is back

Nick

I’m legit crying at Murph going off on Jake’s boxers

James stein

This episode of sonic underground (and others) is on YouTube for anyone who wants to hear the rad intro and the no hedgehog is an island reggae songs

Whitney Peterson

So we're just gonna skate by jake having red-green colorblindness a bit? Right?

Jude Seimon

nearly cried to that you mother FUCKERS

Katie Rhodes

Oh no, I watched this and the next two eps of SU and I liked them? Our manic pixie dream hog DRUMS AWAY A TORNADO?! Poor Sonia is still underserved tho

Anonymous

This was perfect timing since I was just re-listening to some 8 Bit Book Club! My roommate probably thinks I'm crazy for laughing out loud with my earphones in

Brianna M

My heart SOARED hearing that theme song again!

Damodar

I had a Caldwell Oh My God moment at the 8bbc theme.

Amos Polglaze

I, for the life of me, can not figure out which episode this is. I've watched episode 25, nope Episode titled no hedgehog is an island Episode 1 If anyway figured it out, I want to watch this for reference

1man2hands

I just saw cute fanart of sonia and manic the other day!

Kailie Hind

It always hurts my heart in such a nice way to hear the 8bit book club intro ❤

Bridget Denman

I looked it up on Google and SU has a 4.2 rating. Apparently people love this show.

Amanda Hellas

the 8 bit book club intro got me 🥺

Samuel Jasek

Well gang if the 8 bit book club podcast gets 1000 reviews on iTunes Caldwell’s dad will be on a podcastS only 400 to go

Anonymous

Thanks so much for the 8bit book club callback. I'm already halfway through relistening to the backlog again. Emily's intro always makes me smile like a goober. More 'unofficial' 8BBC featuring special guest Jake Herwitz in the mixed bag feed would be wonderful.

Jesymka

Me: “I’m not deep into sonic, but I’ll give it a listen” They explain the show Me: “oh my god I used to watch this!” *deep memories unlock and flood me*

Anonymous

I loved this show as a kid and had an absolute blast listening to their review. Had to hold back the chuckles whilst at work

Nova

I watched so much of this show in 2013 with my nephew because it was all on Netflix, starting with actual ep 1

Jess Wagoner

The intro inspired me to relisten through 8BBC so once again I find myself ugly sobbing with laughter as quietly as possible because I'm a dumb who listens at work. That story about that poor person putting on the Zelda shadow prince episode in the car with their mom on the way to their grandma's funeral still absolutely kills me. If you all ever decided to do 8BBC episodes as occasional mixed bags, I would be so happy

Hymntastic

I had to watch some clips of the show after you guys talked about it and what a weird show. Apparently there was more than one beach episode I saw a clip from another one with a terrible song and some weird sexual tension between the pink and the green one where she was in her bikini straddling his back giving him a massage.

Bulbarat

You can watch the first 24 episodes on YouTube I believe. Not "legally" but people upload them

Nikolaus Cox

"Think of the coolest guy imaginable - Michael Jackson - BUT he's a hedgehog and he's fighting against Teddy Roosevelt." - This line broke me completely.

Keith Conner

What is the deal with Paramount +. They keep saying it's not an endorsement, did P+ do something?

Squishy, Pawpaw's Brushtail Possum lover

I do think that sometimes when shows cross the language barrier into an English dub, the episode order gets messed up. I've been watching Miraculous: Tales Of Ladybug & Cat Noir and the order is clearly wrong. Villians are refference before their introduction episode. Its quite annoying.

Summer Tribe

"it's almost like it's a low priority for them to label the episodes properly" says the people who upload audio files with no metadata whatsoever

Quinn Pace

you say that cw needs to limit the family relationships for love triangles but i think that in riverdale they fully have cousins going at it and the twins are ????
