This is when dungeon court became a staple. Baliff deprication and the intro is perfect. I've been going through the backlogs and it was so weird not hearing "so ordered" in the early days . Aaaaand the church of dice Christ gets it's first confession?! A seminal episode gang. Chef's kiss. Love you sweeties

So so true, I’m expecting so swordered even though I’ve listened to these before

Everest

Meta gaming… I larp and even in Larping we can name the skills we have, we know people have this and that ability and I 100% expect my friends to come to me for healing and not just limp around like oh I guess I’m injured and my friend is a physician over in that building but I’ll just wait here with my injured leg!

Murf'nLurph

Absolutely the defining episode of the DnD Court series❤️

Alex Nerini

I usually walk around dunning the theme song for myself. It is a masterpiece!

MimeticGoblin

The intro song slaps so hard 🔥🔥🔥

Michael P Mendoza

Don't know if anyone has commented it yet but the reason Lightning doesn't normally strike ponds or other smaller bodies of water (aka not the ocean) is because Lightning strikes whatever the closest tallest thing is. Which is usually trees

Michael Graham Abernathy

I'm bummed nobody is mentioning the iconic "what happens to a toad that gets struck by lightning" line from X-Men.

Hapyy

I just got a big d20 ice tray for whiskey. It’s super dope. I use it for coffee too. The iced coffee especially brings out the numbers. I’m dming my first session with some of my oldest best friends who’ve never played and I wanna pull that out with a nice scotch as a power move

Colin Kilzer

Woah didn’t expect the origin of Amelius Bedilius in this dungeon court from 4 years ago. Caldwell is now my goat.

shane

it's so late to be commenting on this now but i was literally waiting for the day the poppy war gets reccomended !! one of my favorite series of all time!!!!!!!

Vie.

BLASTING GRANDMA!!! THIS IS NOT A DRILL!!!!

Addison

Andrew Gilson

Decker Ames

Was NOT expecting that Intro, this intro for all time

Noah James Perito

I absolutely cannot with the a cappella lmfao I’m having college flashbacks

Nolan Childerhose

Just from the intro alone, this is IN-credible. https://youtu.be/2auQ27XuPwY Here's one of Zac's College Humor sketches I just watched today that basically shows the whole cocktail conversation.

j davisson

so...can we get this theme as a ring tone?

Diana

This INTRO!!!! So glad I work from home, i lost my shit 🤣

Connor savage

Yo guys chill this intro is absolute fire.

Mike Cooper

In the first X-Men movie Storm tells us exactly what happens to a frog that’s struck by lightning! The same thing that happens to everything else.

PupKailash

A LARGE rose for that intro!!!!!

PupKailash

Should have that play in the background when entering a dungeon on the RPG video game!

I had a DM start calculating how fast I'd fall using Newtonian physics. After 8 minutes of complete silence of him calculating everything I remembered I had Feather Fall so I cast it. I didn't stay in that game long.

Oliver F.

On the topic of employing real life physics at the dnd table: in college I joined a pathfinder game with a bunch of engineering students. The DM, also an engineer student, had to ban real life physics from the table because the players would use it to break the game, designing siege weaponry in tandem with first edition pathfinder RAW to destroy entire cities in three rounds or less. And that's without applying physics to pathfinder spells.

Eli Tornøe

Weird question, but have you guys changed your recording set-up, or your editing style? Are you back to in-person recordings? The sound feels rounder or more full somehow?

Thundermammal

Don't know what the hell all the chatter was in that long outro but the song itself was amazing

BBQDaddy

I had to pause after the intro so I could remember how to breathe

Nile

Love the intro!

Leon Diaz

love the intro! also do the vibes seem a bit different in this episode, it just feels overall more lively?

Caleb Gardner

Ok can we please get a special summer one shot episode of Murph's aunt trying to ruin a pool party!

Ness O.

I want to listen to this episode, but the NADDcord is doing a live reading of metal city mayhem for it's third birthday. Decisions decisions...

Cheddar Whizard

What happens to a frog when it's struck by lightning? ...the same thing that happens to everything else.

Staci Wright

AMAZING INTRO :) :) Also, Jake is "The People's Bailiff"

Caitlin Sales

THE INTRO SONG!!! Great work holy shit 🙌

Nora nora

Listened to the intro twice because I couldn't believe it had just happened the first time. 🔥🔥

Devon Steen

I could cry, that intro was too good!!!

Emily C

DAMN that intro is 🔥

D'ran Dana

Oh. My. God. The intro!!!!!!!!! Yes!!!!

Marisa

are you guys recording in the same room? the audio sounds so clear!

Jennifer

The Pass Without Trace thing made me laugh so much. We talk like that as a joke sometimes "So friends, have you ever wanted to pass... without... a trace?"

Beav

“Smooth Zooms with Grandma” would be a great pop punk band name.

2026-09-17 02:00 I’m the first case I can not believe your blatant disregard for the precedent set in the 2000 film X-Men, which I am sure you are well aware of going off of your previous usage of the Nightcrawler defense. In her decision, the Honorable Justice Berry clearly states “Do you know what happens to a toad when it's struck by lightning? The same thing that happens to everything else.”

SAM! This intro is so sick!!!!🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻

Ross Minick

I can’t believe it!! Unfucking real

Andy Branton

Emily we keep reading the same books! The Poppy War was good! Have you read Middlegame? I think you might love it. A weird fantasy/sci fi book I havent stopped thinking about since I read it

Haley

Why not have Micah ride on a horse, then punish that horse in such a way that Micah also received justice. Like have a bolt of lightning hit it.

bonecharms

The intro is amazing! Haven’t even gotten that far but I just needed to say it.

James stein

That fucking intro is amazing

Haley

Omg the intro. It makes me want to see the third mates in a law and order episode

Annie

The SONG

BertFromOhio

Lmfao this theme alone was worth the patreon sub lol

Nia R

Love the theme song!!!!

Gilberto Lopez

There are no words that can express what i'm feeling listening to the intro. It's definitely amazing.

Priyanka Patel

OH MY GOD THE INTRO I BLOODY LOVE THIS! Absolutely beautiful and the voices and just awhhhhh!

sesamese

love the theme song, what a nice thursday surprise

Kris Barnes

I don’t know if it’s because everyone is tired, but this episode was particularly funny. Between the side comments Emily made and that whole extended bit on metagaming, I was dying laughing

Nick Garito

That intro...*chef kiss*

Skillful Ferret

Micah B. here to serve my sentence! I would like to shout out to the omniscient dungeon bailiff Jake! You did a great job as I have come to expect and admire. It felt so great to finally hear you discuss my case after all these years! I gladly submit to your ruling and hope I can participate again in the future! Just to fill you in I was playing that inaugural session with my friends consisting of a Chemical engineer, an Environmental Conservationist, an Electrical Engineer, and an Electrician/lineman. I myself am a Mechanical Engineer/Illustrator. They also loved hearing the case, and even though my wife, the Chemical Engineer, and a very experienced DM argued most of it for our friend, the Conservationist, she was not afraid to fry the horse.

Sam Weiller

Sam here, creator of the intro! Y’all are all so so wonderful! Thanks for the appreciation ❤️❤️

Omegassist

It would have been epic if it was just 45 min of the new intro Still so good😄

Cale Clinton

I AUDIBLY GASPED AT THE INTRO

Hansel Herschend

Murphy I hope this is seen I have watched every episode of dimension 20 and have seen your very low roll and I been playing dnd for a few years now and had a question about how to deal with continuous low roll I been having a lot of fun with it specially when the high rolls come in. Should I continue as is or take a page out of Axfords book and charge my dice?

Mick

Shout out for Poppy War, it is sick! Just finished the final book!

Professor Pratt

Amelia Bedelia!? Last week it was Ralph S Mouse. Caldwell? Did you teach Second Grade? Your next challenge is Magic Tree House.

Dorothy Cooper

I love the intro but even moreso, I love that the justices correctly support the blastin gramma, she's so good, I love her, I want nothing but good things for her

Tim Price

Just a little suggestion, could we get a quick recap when following up on cases? I can never remember the specifics

Garga Lenoir

To get a very good example of meta gaming, check on this Order of the Stick strip why a meta gaming wizard will always use all their spells in a random encounter during travel : https://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0147.html Also read Order of the Stick if you like TTRPG, especially DnD!

Todd

As a chemical engineer, Emily’s explanation of lighting was actually pretty accurate! Don’t put yourself down!

Danny K

OH MY GOD THE INTRO IS SO GOOD

2026-09-17 02:00 For anyone who's read The Poppy War- quick google says it's "grimdark military fantasy." How grim & dark is this grimdark? Bc I loved Priory of the Orange Tree & am always here for more naddpod book club recs, but that's not usually my vibe.

Wait. While the dm WAS wrong to say that counter spell means you didn't cast the spell, couldn't he still use misty step? He wasted his action because of counter spell but he still had a bonus action

Matt A
>>62531634

You can’t cast a leveled spell with your action AND bonus action on a turn. That’s why Moonshine/Zirk typically do cantrip or weapon attack for their action if they use a spell with their bonus action.

Mich Blackie

I just bought The Poppy War for my sister for her birthday! Thanks for the plug Emily! 🥰

Gianni Pappas

Thank you Jake for pronouncing my name right 👍👍

Space Cat

Is there a Patreon only episode this week or just this amazing session of the Supreme Crit?

Nick Sanzor Roberts

Sure you've probably heard but they taste test Bud Heavys on Good Mythical Morning!

Anonymous
>>62535244

They said there’s a short rest episode. Just hasn’t been posted yet

Petmygoldfish

So on the topic of THE DICE! My first dice also roles extremely well and it was in fact the one that came with the dnd starter kit. I have done the salt water test on it and it is in fact weighted to 20! I’d like to see if anyone else has tested theirs and came to the same conclusion! If so it’s a pretty good marketing strategy from WoTC. It is the hook of all hooks to get people into the game!

Brian Woolfolk

Hey! I read this book recently. It was a great read, very entertaining, lots of fun fantasy elements. However, there are some elements of the book that show the harsh realities of a war and violence that can be kinda intense (I know it was for me). Anyway, I still really enjoyed it. Hope that helps!

Vince Mascoli

The term “metashaming” just came to me in a flash while listening to this.

Omar Mtz

I loved the new intro!! And lol when Murph said "order" in the spotify intro sponsor 🤣

Anonymous
>>62536343

this is super interesting, I hope murph tests his starter kit d20 too

Swivels

I love the new intro

Con

Idea where you play a one-shot with grandma but you never say no to her and just keep accommodating her increasingly bonkers requests until the session comes to some sort of end.

Frank

That FUCKING intro oh my god

Gino Rodriguez

new mic setup? i could hear this recording audio in my soul it sounded so crisp

Jon O

Volta's electricity experiment was on dead frogs at least! His museum is in como italy if yall wanna see it it is very odd

Nathann Morais

Oh so probably that whole thing of Murph liking to say the most embarrassing thing on the menu is what inspired the "skinny bitch diet menu" from hot date, huh... Peak behind the show

HopsteinGoodbarrel

Can anyone point me to the original Blasting Gramma case?

Liz Tye

This intro ❤

Brianne Nurse

Incredible work on that intro, everyone!

Amber W

Incarnated LARPing is an awesome album name

Crankysister

Is the theme song on Spotify? I want to listen to it all the time. I'm always looking for new ways to screw up my Spotify wrapped.

Maggie Reed

I’m an astrophysicist and a forever DM and my players still try to argue basic physics with me. However I hardly ever argue for real life physics in the fantasy realm lol

Draven_the_crow

this episode finally sees me becoming a patreon! I'm happy to finally be able to support the show, especially since it was the original band of boobs that got me into dnd

Lisquander

going to check out the book in solidarity for Trapps wife because I just binged all seasons of UHM ACTUALLY and it feels right

Nick Johnson

This intro tho!!! Had no business being that good god damn!

Austin Johnson

Emily has the best book recommendations. If she ever starts an Oprah style book cult I will be one of the first members.

Kelly O'Connell

RE: lightning in pools - see Bahumia episode 49!! Y'all addressed this situation.

Adam Haikal

Was not ready for the intro.

Kendra Waters

My god. This intro. Epic. We love to see it!

Samuel

I wasn't ready for that intro, that's incredible!

Fallon

Alternate title for “Dirty Gusher”, maybe “Dirty 20s”

Ben C.

The. Theme. Song. Gives. Me. Liiiife!!!!

Avery Woolard

Love the new intro it was so good

Lindsay All Day

I have a problem player who tries to bend physics similar to the witch bolt case, and my answer is “this game already has rules…”

Dr3vvn45ty

Hmm... most of the rolls higher than an 8? Like... maybe 12/20 rolls were higher than an 8? Hmmmm........... If the die is randomized, the balance isn't as relevant compared to if it's a spin-down die.

GREYFOX!!!!!

Lightning often strikes water, and water conducts electricity. That means that the currents from a lightning strike can seriously injure you. Or straight up just kill you. Assuming your in an outside pool of course. Inside pools are perfectly safe. Source used to manage a pool/pool side grill/bar. If you heard thunder you were to have everyone leave the pool for one hour and every time you heard it again the timer reset. I once had a lady argue with me that it was fine and she would gladly sign something saying she'd take responsibility if something happened. Lady I'm just trying not to have a bunch dead kids in my pool jeez.

Branson White

All these tree punishments make me think of “tony santoroa guide to illegal tree planting”

Paxton

My favorite line of this episode was how’s that for meta

Nikolaus Cox

On the subject of 'forbidden essence' being a gross name for a cocktail: my name is Nik, and I recently caught up with friends and had cocktails them, but insisted on calling the drinks 'Nik Juice' the entire night. Whether they made the drink or I made the drink, it was 'Nik Juice,' and I do feel I somewhat tarnished their enjoyment of the drinks. BUT, I would argue, it was worth it.

Brianna M

LIVING for the intro!
