I listened to this on Spotify (where there are ads in the middle of the episode) and in EVERY EPISODE SO FAR they have placed the ad during a break or lull between words or sentences. In this episode, they placed the ad directly in the middle of a word (Jake calling Jack Skellington the "ex-ception" to the Shatter disadvantage rule) and I thought that was so funny.

Matt Crowther

This is one of my favorite dnd courts, I've probably listened to it 50 times and it makes me laugh so hard everytime.

aeropressor

Wait, did they come up with the plot of Death of a Unicorn?

ChronoT

Just listened to this episode and noticed that the D&D court art has the eagle holding a lantern fish. Top tier!

Trub Hopdropper

I CAN NOT be the first to say this but I would definitely go to a D&D court live show. 🤣

Joseph

“If you’re gonna wow us with Wilson… don’t twist us with Tyson” is probably my favorite quote from this show

Nick Lerche

I read the shatter on skelly case before hand. I fundamentally disagree that bone is an inorganic material

Thimo The Fool

Hey murph and Emily, i am binging d20's unsleeping city atm and it brings me so much joy and helps to be patient for the naddpod releases! Love to the two-crew, thank you so much :)

Sam Ninegar

Zac was in rare form in this court session

Dana A

justice oyama's got JOKES!!! also, emily's intentionally terrible, nonsensical jokes always always tickle me 😂

Scott Specht

If you want to play DND in an Old West setting look into Deadlands

Iamtheskullboy

The “practical puppet” insult needs to be said in a British accent because “Muppet” is already a British insult so it flows well lmao

jawnster

MY ANACONDA DON'T WANT NONE UNTIL YOU'RE OWEN WIL-SON!

Dippity_Dip

You probably don’t care dear Crits, but I figured I would let you know that the reason I was banned is because my parents thought it would turn me into a “violent satanist” because I used a weapon and there were other gods in the game

Bee W

one of my church activities for all of the like youth (12 year olds to 18 olds) was cleaning out a foam pit for one of the leaders who owned a trampoline park/foam pit and the amount of fitbits and apple watches at the bottoms was crazy

Haley

Wow, I disagree worth most of those rulings. Normally they're pretty fair, but that was rough.

Courtney F.

Dear all DMs current and future, Please DO NOT ask a player playing a bard to sing/dance/whatever. Unless you know they really want to, just don't lol BTW this energy was amazing. Happy to hear your happy, as usual, everyone. 🤗

Grace Meers

I just watched the death scene on YouTube and someone edited in a “wow” when his lifeless body appears above the water

Kelley

The visual of an osprey popping out of a body of water with an anglerfish in its talons made me cry laughing on a rubbish day. Thank you!

Crankysister

My boyfriend and I started watching Ranking of Kings because Caldwell recommended it, and it's SO GOOD. Bojji and Kage's friendship is everything. Thanks for the excellent recommendation, Caldwell!

The Best Sam

You know who does know lots of bird facts? Brennan.

jackalope503

**puts on my biologist hat** The nictitating membrane is a translucent third eyelid that a lot of animals have (Murph and Em all your cats have them!). Basically all it does is provide a layer of protection over the eye that the animal can still see through while keeping the eyeball moist. It wouldn't have anything to do with looking down towards the water - unless maybe the barb stuck their head underwater? I don't think that was the case though. Big props to the player for getting psyched about bird facts, albeit semi-correct bird facts though

Ted Orbach

Eagles can see fish near the surface, it's what they usually eat. But that's probably only like a couple feet at most.

Casey Miles

For some ridiculous one shot they should all make characters with secret backstories that Murph would absolutely hate.

Ebony-Rose Ellis

doesn't also kind of blue their view a bit?? it's not transparent so it would create a layer of bluriness over the eye

Ian Hudson

I just came here to say- “wowalujah”

Joseph Goldstein

"Anaconda's are living duck boats" broke me. Thank you Em!

Jamjam

another sign that they need to get him on dungeon court asap!

Eric McGowan

As a practicing Catholic, long live Dice Christ. May his crits be among us

Connor

As a Murph myself, the phrase “Murph is very defined by being a former catholic” is extremely relatable

Bat-Fran

Emily always seems to make these comments that really highlight how different the world is for men/women... I find myself laugh/crying at their brutal reality sometimes 😅😂

Seasquidley

While many types of eagles can swim on the surface of the water, most eagles hunt in only shallow waters, at most a few feet deep. So the question about monster depth still stands!

Nia R

“I smell that dm sweat” is the most cursed thing Murph has ever said

Victoria Shotts

Did Zac Oyama just tell my favorite bar joke? 🤩 I love that mop drop

Victoria Shotts

Reading this comment before listening to the podcast was the best surprise of all. It was like playing 6 degrees of how is this ever going to make sense? 🤣

Nova

I have SO felt that pressure of rolling too well and giving yourself disadvantage. I never thought of it as an afab thing but it makes SOOOO much sense

Harry B

I absolutely love the idea of Deep Sea Hawks. One of the funniest things ever.

Jen Smells Peaches

Ugh. Listening to this with my 17yo daughter, who is also named Emily. Zak: "Do you know where they hold the bird Olympics?" Daughter Emily: "The neigh-bird-hood."

Deadeye614

For the bones case I want to add that bones are "organic" material since they contain carbon. The shatter spell could be interpreted to only affect non-carbon-containing material. Fun fact, going along with this reasoning, a diamond-only construct would not be granted disadvantage.

Matthew Tyler Helm

Uuuuuuugggghhh I have so much regret I left out so many details from the story because Jake was asking for short submissions The player was asking for advantage just BECAUSE--the rest of the party wasn't even there to give him the help action which would've been totally fair--I was thinking on the fly and made a deal with him--I'd give him inspiration using the inspiration mechanic in dnd 5e if he actually sang it It was my second session EVER as dm and I was soooo nervous and in hind sight I wouldn't have asked him I should've just told him no He wasn't as upset about singing as he was having to do it to get advantage but I made it sound like he was having a crisis over it

panpolypuff

With live audience testimonials/submissions?? (Screened beforehand if possible)

Jeremiah Pennell

Caldwell finally convinced me to start Ranking of Kings, and I’m fully emotionally invested into all of this just two episodes in.

Jordan M Gates

Fun fact. I worked at a trampoline park for a bit. They just empty the foam pit once every like 6 months. Clean the pit and just replace the foam blocks that look "bad" lol

Stephanie F

Hands down one of my favorite things about this episode is Caldwell throwing out different names for the Nicholas Cage membrane. It reminded me of a recent session where I kept screwing up all of the goblins names and stuck to the bit of calling them Fishhook, Ragnarok and Bollocks.

Grass

I am also very defined by being a former Catholic

Oliver Jasper

i was there!! Seattle live show was amazing

Reed Kierce

The father, the son, and the holy Wilson

Summer Tribe

well we could just cast shatter on some animated skeletons IRL and see how it pans out

Marissa Clopton

There’s a game where you take turns naming famous people. You have to say someone whose first initial is the same as the last initial of the previous player. Maybe if there were some rules like that around the celebrity shape changer, then I could handle it.

Randy

May the Wilson Wow you, and the Tyson not Twist you this night

Ames

Listening to murph crack up over some of the council of elders is so funny

T. Gideon P.

"Lull" (spelled lul) is a synonym for penis in Dutch, so the start had me cracking up
