For once I have the time watch the video and not only listen to the audio. THANK YOU MURPH for being the irl “to audio-translator” for the visual things! As a non native English speaker I did not know “to spike” also meant throw on the ground. Even With the gesture so I did wonder why would cake be fun to poison Caldwell?!?! Until specified. Someone in my party nuked the end of our campaign with the bag of holding trick. After a year long campaign, in the second round of the final fight with our bbeg, with a player who had quit months earlier who had surprise joined for the final session, and then it just ended before half the players had had a chance to do anything

I once DMed a session where a player brought her boyfriend to spectate, then at one point in the night had her character visit a brothel and tried to roleplay a sexual scene with me I declined, but it was super awkward. Like, was she oblivious to how uncomfortable that was, or was it some kind of kink thing of theirs maybe?? I am still confused by this literal years later

Current student of fluid Mechanics here. One of the properties of fluids is that they cannot sustain shear force, which essentially means noise is not produced by contacting other air molecules. Wind makes sound when it exerts a pressure on a solid object. This exerted pressure causes vibrations in the impacted object which is what produces the noise wind makes. If a wind wall is cast, it will only make sound when things come in contact with it. That's just the physics and this is magical, so maybe things are totally different, idk

re: the DM insight check that Aabria mentioned. I used to play in a GURPS campaign where my character had the "Strategy" skill at max. After a bad session where we blew up a space station we thought was empty and the DM later said was populated, I started using strategy all the time. Every time we made a plan I rolled strategy to see if there was anything we missed, especially if I thought the DM wasn't psyched about our plan. It was a lifesaver and helped prevent us from dying multiple times because we forgot how artificial gravity worked in our space campaign.

I have a person in my online campaign who acts exactly the way this dog person does but with their two cats. Tbh, I don't know if it's a dog vs cat thing, i think it's moreso a certain type of person who doesn't care about what else is going on kinda thing (in my experience)

Call and response means call and response, not call and call. It's totally legal canon to have the call be different from the response. Murph should know this! "Peace be with you" "And also with you" CALL AND RESPONSE. tl;dr Emily is correct with the hemp song. To further avoid any confusion, she could switch from "give me a hemp" to "makin some hemp" "MILK"

If I was chicken dude’s girlfriend, I’d want to know if the dude I was RP flirting with was into me IRL. She’s engaging in this scenario with this guy under the assumption it’s all in-game only. I don’t know if she’d be comfortable with it if she knew otherwise. I’d want to be warned that this dude wasn’t on the same level that I was. It also feels super disrespectful that the DM is continuing this kind of RP knowing that he has feelings for her. Even if he never said anything, openly flirting with her (in front of her partner, no less!) disguised as innocent role play is really gross.

It’s the ‘give me a…’ that’s the problem. If you’re doing the classic version to spell a word you can’t be all ‘give me an X!’ and have the crowd yell ‘Y!’

Personally I don't mind the bag nuke, but I would add consequences. Like roll a dice and if you're unlucky, there's something on the other end that use this chance to come to the other side by stabilizing the portal or the implosion inverses and some stuff lost in the Astral plane explodes out into the world. Possibly some powerful magical items that the big bad can then grab

Being a girl in a campaign with mostly dudes, if my DM was secretly “in love” with me, I’d kind of feel violated. It’s already weird being the only female voice, and then if this happened, I would quit. That guy needs to tell his girlfriend ASAP.

On the windwall case to me that DM should have told him that he would rule it made noise before he cast it as it is something the character would know. It isn't specified in the spell if it makes noise or not and while it makes sense it would make noise it is also magic wind so the interpretation is left to the DM. Personally dislike when a GM the "Are you sure ?" line, especially when it is the consequence of assymetry of information (in character knowledge that should be passed on to the player).

Actually I shouldn’t say the exact same thing: he was the DM and she was a PC, so he was the one who initiated the flirting with her while I was there watching the whole thing, then he asked me if he could date both me and her, I said I wasn’t okay with that and asked if that’s was a dealbreaker, he said he didn’t know and he’d get back to me about that, he didn’t for THREE WEEKS until I finally said that’s enough let’s go on a break so you can figure your shit out, then he started dating her two days later 😑😑😑😑
