First Calder sacrifices himself, then Callie gets taken, now Hardwon dies! HOLY (F)DUCK things are getting intense

Stephen Fike

Damn these spoilers are pretty insane

SaltyBurrito

I knew the reason behind Hardwons departure in my heart but I wasn't ready to hear it

Eliska G

oh okay I wasn't really planning on crying but here we are. okay. this is fine. okay.

Lorelei and Kyra Newly Weds

Murph really went all out this episode. I think it's residue from playing never after with the big BLM

Lilybet Gates

Ahhhh just the ep title oh nooooo

Felix Belanger

15 mins in and there are already some METAL quotes

Professor Pratt

Jesus! Emily calls back to ep 1. Queen Emily, the greatest DND player in all the planes!!!

Kyle Veach

MY FUCKING HEART, MURPH, OUCH

Tyler Foster

Who knew Callous Callie would make me so sad

Gearbox

1:14:14 is the moment Hardwon had to start a new podcast on the Headgum network investigating why Callie would say he had Dead Eyes.

Ellie P

So glad to have another ep

crawdaddy

Oh no I’m crying at work

Nicholas

MurphBot loves the betrayal twist

Leslie Marchant

You killed a major character OFF SCREEN, Murph! How dare you!?!!

Kyle Corbett

It’s giving Yeerk vibes. Murph is this inspired by your Animurph fanfic?

FlanMan

It's good to see that MurphBot made his way into the main campaign

Gilbot 3000

When Beverly came down from the sky to smite Malora! Holy shit balls!

Crangar’s Little Helper

I love the theme of Hardone having beef with automatons. When he met HardJaun and they immediately started arguing. It killed me. So funny.

HolyFatFish

"Can I summon my serpent between my legs"? Mrs. Axford!

Amelia Chisholm

Em saying 'Who fucking invited you' in Callie's accent. exactly the British girl energy.

Lorelei and Kyra Newly Weds

Moonshine coming in with Deadeyes old gun and absolutely decimating that orphan kid was kinda out of nowhere

polyglottal cracker

I really wanna know how long Murph had to pause before coming up with that Geas ruling because that call was inspired and I'd be in awe if he came up with it on the spot.

Tre K

I think bringing back the Green Teens as vampires was a little much but maybe that’s just me

polyglottal cracker

I really should know better than to come into the comments before finishing the episode.

Zaxbeez

I’m listening to the animorphs right now and I thought the exact same thing. He could have ripped out the experience from Jake’s time as a controller ti describe it.

Liz

Can’t believe Emily critted on Jake so many times. 😂 That was some great roleplay, though—I was waiting for my train when Hardwon told Callie what made him come back to the material plane and I had to try REAL hard not to cry in front of a bunch of commuters. Callie’s turn toward cold logic is understandable but made me so sad for her. Sol’s definitely got his work cut out for him keeping everyone’s spirits up!!!

joel

murph is my favorite dm for this reason. he *always* wants to innovate within existing mechanics and it makes for better storytelling from where I stand

polyglottal cracker

I particularly love the mechanics he comes up with when he has time to prepare. The little overland travel challenges and combat obstacles he throws in really spice up otherwise boring encounters. I'm always trying to emulate a little of his cleverness at my tables.

Kaileigh Rose

I did cry during this episode and also my manager did call me unexpectedly so I really was frantically pausing and playing off my watery eyes as allergies?? Unbelievable. 10/10

David Lipscomb

I pictured Callie, Saul, and Hardwon beating that last worm like the scene in Office Space with the copier

jbyrd

Crit o clock

Declane Gilhooley

Spoiler question Can someone explain the gnoll swarm. I have a one shot on Wednesday and this would fit perfectly

Lorelei and Kyra Newly Weds

You didn't like Beverlynn and Hardshine doing the army of 2 back to back before twin lariating the vampire lord? That was peak action for this episode

polyglottal cracker

PSA BTW: "geas" is actually pronounced "gesh," like Sean Connery saying "guess." (It's Gaelic, hence the screwy pronunciation)

Tim

Wow, I did not expect to be so emotional following the revelation of certain information. Holy shit, I’ve got to stop listening in the car.

Christopher Lasasso

I love the struggle between Callie's cold pragmatism creeping in, pulling her down the path of her mother which Oberon warned against, and her whimsical & mercurial Fey inclination. Learning about Cobb's death leading to Hardwon's current state was thematically so great - "keeping it light" gets difficult when you are swallowed by the belief that a pragmatic, objective, and steely disposition will help you save the dead and dying. I think it is a really great narrative to pursue for NADDPOD who have always really wonderfully explored the line between "keeping it light" and presumptions of a supposedly more 'serious' approach to story telling. I kept thinking back to C2 where Murph would often comment on how "they're not Looney tunes characters" or something akin to that in Short Rests. I'm not necessarily trying to posit what Murph, or anyone else's intentions are - but I think this campaign really does bridge some key themes for NADDPOD as a whole these past five years. Really great stuff.

Ben Beckwith

You guys seriously do a good swing from frankly ridiculous to genuinely moving and sincere. This epp had me laughing out loud and choking up. Props to you all. Thick sode

tacticalgrandma

“The Ones We Left Behind” “Frog in the Fog” “Too Late” I’m on to you, Murph, & you trying to make me think there’s character death in suspenseful episodes. I’m only getting nervous around episodes called like “A New Wardrobe” or whatever.

caustic-laz

That's actually why Murph is the gm I go to for "inspiration". Mercer, BLeeM, Aabria ect are wonderful but Murph brings "nah fuck what the rules say, what feels fair enough given the stakes we've set" energy that is somehow lawful in how chaotic it is. I love it. I love a controlled demolition, a pragmatic chaos.

Morgan

Has anyone ever enjoyed playing or listening to a “My character is extremely sad now, everyone sleep on the cold ground until you cheer me up” DnD session?

caustic-laz

Essentially it's in the flavor, you're gonna treat a --group-- of lower level gnolls as a single monster. Give it the stats of a gnoll, maybe +1 or +2 (depending on party level, not sure what your one shot's level is?) to the strength and con mods. Obviously the health would be higher, you could just multiply the average gnoll health by how many are in the pack (22 times 3-5, again based on party level). When they're at half health, they're also at half as many in the group, so you can take one attack away, maybe drop the modifier bumps, or the pack tactics. I'd decide that based on party level and how big the group was to begin with. Has advantage (from pack tactics) every attack, but the --group-- only takes 2-3 attacks. Again, basically treated as a single monster. The immunity to mind control is from the mechanical worm, so if you rule like Murph they can be dominated/mind controlled/taunted as a single entity. Good luck!

Declane Gilhooley

This is a level 8 with 3 pcs. Bug them. Alright I think I understand

tacticalgrandma

I love how Calli’s working in the winter eladrin stuff both with aesthetics and personality!

Beef

Bawled my eyes out at work, thanks for that gang

Taylor

How do y’all do so much good?

Sam Fellows

I was minding my own business listening and driving my Honda Fit, then: Caldwell: This thing’s made out of like a Honda Fit

Carey Compton

Hey Caldwell, Honda Fits can Klump!

tacticalgrandma

Emily’s using her character’s race mechanics to express her feelings after experiencing some horrible things. Winter is, as we’ve seen with her mother, associated with practicality and austerity. The deep, primal part of you might not be applicable to this instance.

tyalaman

Growing up is learning to emotionally handle all the pain you've lived through, remember the joy, becoming practical but not losing the parts of you that are unique and joyful to you. Callie is just in the painful part, experiencing the winter of her nature while having it bump up against her fae whimsy. I think growth is the balance of that. Being practical is not only necessarily a negative consequence from loss but pure pragmatism with no hint of the whimsy which she used to draw from life, that polar swing, is clearly her trying shut herself off from the world, which is not healthy. The balance will be that growth.

D'ran Dana

I couldn't disagree more. This is excellent acting and story telling. This is my favorite arc of any campaign so far.

AstraHorn

Pouring one out for Cobb and keepin it light this evening

Magnoliidae

Emily you can't just casually drop that youre using day planners now and leave it at only that. My planner obsessed brain needs to know more!!!! (even if ill probably never stray from kokuyo techo's weekly planners)

Ian Hanson

Hardwon actually was GOATED for the climb. He's come so far since moonstone.

Ebony-Rose Ellis

I think that's part of the journey that Callie is still yet to learn so obviously they're not telling you everything

Ebony-Rose Ellis

it's also a I think a super interesting way to play an eladrin! interesting to see how the seasons play to their character and I'm excited to see more, there's defo more focus on character this season but they're still keeping it light Bev defo had a similar arc in campaign one when he changed his oath and then consistently played a slightly less cheery lad. It's fun to explore your characters, all the players are on the same page and we are still quite early in the story... There'll be a summer or autumn eladrin on the horizon I'm sure once she finished this character arc!

Katie Gunn

For sure me. These are the sessions that remind you that your characters are people and not just loony tunes characters.

Charlie Hoskin

Can I plug the Hoboniche day planner - it’s absolutely amazing

Ty Cameron

Has anyone ever enjoyed listening to good roleplay and strong narrative storytelling? Who's to say??

Michael Beck

The automaton sounds just like a Dalek lol, I love it

Michael Beck

Also goddamnit I knew what was gonna have Hardwon so fucked up but I am still just so devastated lol

Jamie Matthews

Calliope, my beloved ♥️ I have always been "too emotional" and experienced the pendulum swing to losing myself trying to be "more serious." Watching Em masterfully play out this arc through the manifestation of Callie's magic and her eladrin fey traits got me goooooood. I have loved all of your characters, Emily, but Callie just hits different 🌧✨️🦆

Max Herzog

When callie crit on hardwon and she used her luck blade, I just KNEW she would crit again, thats a good story right there.

Erik Farrar

Guys...the "austere tent" could so easily have been the Faustere Tent! 🦆

Mooncrest

Love the music when Sol makes breakfast for everyone

Mooncrest

Yeah, disagree with you here. From my perspective this campaign has demonstrated everyone's growth of understanding of the game and growth as friends. This campaign is not only fleshes out the characters as individuals and as a group, but also has been adding more depth to the first campaign! What more could you want??

Doctor Ransom

Wowie zowie! Emily was Beardsley-blessed with all those nat 20’s, my golly!

Kathryn G.

did anyone notice when jake slipped into the calder voice for a minute, heartbreaking

Kristina Geiger

can you smite more than once per turn? i thought they were bonus actions

Snackonomics

In 5e2014 divine smites cost a spell slot, but not a bonus action. I think they changed it in the new ruleset

Griffin Ziegert

“He was funny” is the most tragic line in the history of NADDPOD.

Bryce Peterson

Jake breaking character (I think) when they found the leech on Sol and yelling “you piece of shit” at Murph is the best.

Liam K

Using “Gunslinger’s Girl” as the soundtrack for the flashback, the track first used when Cobb shared about Maribelle, absolutely devastating

Blue Bee

God I feel so bad whenever Caldwell gets let down by how dog water the 2014 monk is, even after swapping to a better subclass

J. Gro

I love the monk class! The damage output isn't crazy high, but it has a lot to play with!

Cody Zimmer

Yeah, I still like 2014 monk, but 2024 monk fixed so much about it.

Cody Zimmer

Yeah, smiting up to 4 times in a turn rotation was way too insane, honestly.

diintz

the SILENCE when callie crits again >:'DDDDD the second she asked to use the luck blade i remembered what happens and Died, absolutely brutal XDD

diintz

"by killing their leader youve triggered an election" LOL
