LETS GOOOOO

jackalope503

So psyched for the next arc where Duck Team fixes up Calder's monster airbnb

jackalope503

Is 'Ol Guppy a fish person or a sea elf? I think it's the way that Murph plays him (and his lovely wife) that I picture him looking like Boss Nass from Phantom Menace lol

Liu

I listen to this podcast playing bg3!

Nick Lerche

I was instinctively muttering starspawn right after Murph said starspawn hulk

Jack Campau

anybody else notice Murph called Jake "Calder" when he was talking about Jason Bourne?

Theo Englund

i listen to this podcast playing video games all the time right now i’m playing The Long Dark !!!!

Nova

Caldwell’s “let’s a go Jason!” caught me so off guard I just let out the ugliest laugh on this train. Thanks for being my holiday travel buddies and happy banakasgiving!

Blaize Gordon

Love getting the updates of the videogames y'all are playing, love the Hades shout-out can't wait for the next game in that series! Surprised I haven't heard Emily talk about playing tears of the kingdom though 😭😭

Rafael C

lmao I listened to this playing miencraft/pixelmon ...

Jamilla

Literally listening to this as I game... (Mineko's Night Market, v cute and cozy)

Nick Lerche

I can't do podcasts w bg3 it's so story heavy or intricate battles that matter. But I used to definitely do this in Skyrim walking everywhere

Fridge

feeling seen listening to this while playing BG3

Nim

Def agree with Murph, Naddpod has become my favorite thing to listen to while playing Dark Souls

Error

Zac o Yama should just take over rearus similar vibe and voice

Scrambles

Can you imagine Rearus saying "Love is love is love"? Because I can.

Prowsy

Currently listening to this while playing Dark Souls 3. Thanks for easing my pain🥲

Katherine

Dndads had a bbeg with a deck, which was a fun, but acute, change in arc

thiswayjose

Isn’t it crazy that Murph and Emily didn’t mention the gamer podcast that they HOSTED?!? Like, they were literally a podcast inside of a game!

Nick_Nack_Patty_Whack

Would they try to convince Kenna and/or Rearis to draw from the deck of many things? What would Kenna wish for?

tacticalgrandma

Listening to this while playing Baldur’s Gate! Also wild that both times now that they’ve drawn from the deck on the short rest, they’ve drawn the trapped in a gem card.

Saru

The "trapped in a gem" card fucked my previous home game so hard, the player had to roll a new character while we rescued her actual character and it took us over 4 months real time to get her character out of the gem. Happened at the most random moment too. Luckily the end boss for the arc was a dragon so I could put the gem in the horde the dragon was protecting so i didn't have to make up a completely new arc.

KelCello

Sorry in advance for the incredibly long comment. I ran a campaign about a year ago, and one of the main ideas was to have a Deck of Many Things at its center, because it has such a reputation as a campaign ender, I wanted to build the start of a campaign around it. The first half of the campaign had my players investigating the destruction of a city. They discovered the secret lair of a bronze dragon, Morian, who had been protecting the island, whose deeds had been attributed to a god of storms, Kamikaze. They learned that Morian suddenly had a change of heart, and had destroyed the city in retribution for the misattribution of her deeds. She demanded they worship her as the new Kamikaze. They refused. They fought, they won, and in her hoard they discovered the Deck of Many Things. (They would later learn that Morian had drawn the Balance card, flipping her alignment and causing her change of heart.) Now, I had made basically no plans after this point in the campaign, because I assumed that my players would want to draw cards from the deck, and you can’t really plan around that. Of course, being players, they did the thing that I least expected them to do, and drew no cards at all. In the second half of the campaign, they learned that, rather than die, Morian had ascended to demi-godhood, and was being recognized by many people as the new Kamikaze. Things were ramping up to a final confrontation with Morian/Kamikaze, and having finally made solid plans for the final series of encounters, naturally, my players chose that moment to draw cards from the deck. Thankfully, they managed to avoid derailing the campaign in the final moments. Between the three of them, they drew a total of four cards. Only one of them was one of the “bad” ones, and that one was the Rogue, which doesn’t have the immediate derailment potential of some of the other cards. All in all, 10/10, would write a Deck of Many Things-based campaign again.

Simon Hughes

got the short rest going, totk second playthrough, weed and alcohol, im multilaxing to the max

Mich Blackie

Bro you sound like an amazing hang 👌

Mich Blackie

Not me listening to NaddPod while I run around in TOTK 😂

Jamie Matthews

I've been relistening to Campaign 1 while I replay Skyrim! Usually I play a theif/rogue but this time I was inspired by Hardwon and made a more traditional fighter with an enchanted hammer :)

Denver Mason

I don’t see this episode on my NADDPOD plus feed through Apple Podcasts.

Not Another D&D Podcast

Check the C3 show page, it's uploaded there! The Main Feed upload got interrupted, but it should be posted there soon too. ~Caldwell

ChloPiercer

I actually discovered NADDPod as I played the RE2 remake! I started at the exact point in Leon's game where I entered the third floor storage room. Listening to a podcast while I play video games is a long standing habit of mine, and somehow linking two memories together like that makes it easier to remember both!

Paul kolby

I played tears of the Kingdom through this entire episode. I feel so seen!

Emz

I can’t remember why Calder hates puppets?

Lucia V.

There was that one castle with the king(? I have such a terrible memory) who loved puppets and they had to compete against a group of puppeteers for an audience(? or job?) with the ruler, but the puppeteers I think were undercover dragon elves (that's what Glen was, right?) and they enchanted the puppets to try to kill duck team, although I think perhaps Calder's fear was a bit before that even happened. Let's hope someone with a better memory comes and corrects me 😅

teapot

i genuinely don't even remember what starspawn was 😭

Serpent Prince

One of my players drew the knight card from the deck of many things, so I made my knight (Edel) have a love for tuna and mayo sandos as tribute to Balnor 💛

Kelley

Listening to a Short Rest about podcasts + video games as I play Baldur's Gate

kiarra burd

jake being embarrassed about his love for the bourne series because he's around a bunch of nerds is such a specific scenario and yet if i had a penny for each time that happened to me i'd have at least two pennies

Meapyboy1234567

Which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it happened twice.

Jessica

Petition for a one-shot where Calder and Sol take Riarus through the dungeon in Calder’s new mansion to save Callie below!

Justin Atols

Live show with the deck of many things result would be dope, especially in Chicago

xatlern

Love that Carl got name dropped, because whenever Riaris talks I think about how fun it would be to drop the Bon Freres into Tsunare.

Dylan P.

Just lock Riaris in a trunk so he can’t leave the underwater area

Okayest Lawyer

For any Dimension 20 watchers, Riaris is just like when Emily, Murph, and the rest of the Bad Kids dragged Gilear around with them.

Magestain

Me, laughing my ass off while playing video games throwing dung on some guy's house

ChungleDownBingus

I actually have a great fair fix for the Donjon Card to make it less gamebreaking - the player is still sent to the otherworldly prison, but at some point in the future. The DM can narrate that the player who drew it feels a devastating blow to their soul, but nothing else happens in the moment. Then, at a time the DM determines in the future, the player’s soul is yanked away to their prison. You could even narrate a sword of damacles hanging over their head or a black mark on their palm that only they notice and bring it up occasionally to build tension and serve as a constant reminder to the player that their time is coming. It conveys the weight of how bad the consequences are without completely derailing the campaign, and they could be yanked away after an arc when there are no more loose threads - or at the worst possible moment with all of the built tension making it still feel earned. It would give the DM time to plan a cool encounter for the consequence, and maybe even set up the next arc with time to weave it into existing lore It seems like everyone loves the deck of many things and I just thought it would be a fun way to address Murph’s core concerns!

Cooper Erikson

Any time Murph says "you fucking maniac" you know your in for some grade A Emily shinanagins.

Nick_Nack_Patty_Whack

Starspawn!! Translation: Starspawn are “colony of worm” creatures that showed up in the original campaign during the wizard tournament (Mage Madness with Zac) that could only say “Starspawn!!” I’m pretty sure they were throwaway characters Murph added, so naturally, everyone became attached to them. Starspawn is a very efficient language.

Bryce Peterson

“Let’s-a-go Jason!” Caldwell may need the occasional razzle-dazzle, but he is a brilliant mind and a visionary!

Leomund's Tiny Nut

Sweet blue hole does not hold up on the relisten. This feels like Caldwell was owed something and therefore SBH…

Matthew

Can't wait for Sony to announce the HD Remake of "BloodBourne Supremacy"

Ian Mcilwean

We play a lot of the same video games and I often listen to podcasts while I play. Unlike murph though I just put on subtitles so I can read along if it gets interesting.

Camilla Jefferson

this short rest made me realise Ol' Guppy is pitched down bean rat. "ok. ok. yah."

Kamu

my current campaign is based on the deck of many things! my friend pulled the gem card and our dm had him go into the big bad’s pocket essentially and we had to rush over and defeat him. in the meantime he rolled a new character that died during that fight.

Kamu

we also do have a jester bad guy from the clown plane! he’s really annoying and shows up every now and then to try to steal our deck (our story is collecting cards and decks from those trying to manipulate fate)

HeyYeah

this episode is not in the short rest collection. Idk how to say that in a way that doesn't sound dispassionate without adding a caveat like this one so I'm sorry if it comes off as rude!

Spades Pendragon

Caldwell you deserve my humblest apologies for the brainstorm thing. I simply could not understand your game

Venus Astria

I’m doing the same thing Emily is doing with an assassin’s creed game, except the podcast I’m listening to is this one obviously 😂

Human woman

I’m doing the exact same thing! I just paused Black Flag to read the comments, what good timing

Compound27

Riaris is like when they brought Cooter along lol
