What do you do if the rules are just wrong? I am not afraid of house rules but for some of the more technical / roll-heavy by rules I am afraid to change them in case I have messed with the balance of the mechanics too much. Ex . Fall damage seems weak sometimes, a 20 in con can save you if the dice are lucky, why not instakill ?

Hello fire-warmed ducklings! I dm a kids game every week and am in need of advice in the realm of wrangling sweet chaos. Picture playing with 6 young Caldwells who are absolutely hell bent on wonderfully weird bits, trying (either intentionally or unintentionally) to get away with insane asks, but also know all of the rules. It’s honestly incredible. But also I feel like I am so, so bad at keeping all of them on track to follow the larger plot. I unfortunately have to stick with the book (I am payed and need to follow the module alongside my boss who runs another game). Do you have any advice on how to balance, and give service to, those fun weird moments while staying on track and not accidentally giving the kids something like, say, a frayed wish scarf to their goblin they kidnapped instead of killed and turned into their pseudo-son because you know it would have been a 30 minute argument and you needed to have moved on to a bigger piece of the plot pie?

I'm amazed by how well you all can stick to and remember character voices. It really speaks to your professional prowess! As a virtual DM, i want to be able to give more of that immersive auditory experience to my players, but I have trouble thinking up and maintaining different voices. Also, our campaign is supposed to be set in on, secluded place, so there is little room for accent variation in that sense. Do you have any tips on how to hone those skills, differentiate character voices, and keep track of how each NPC should be speaking? Thanks!

This campaign so far has been a hell of an emotional roller coaster a lot of laughs, a fair few tears and a moral quandary or two, especially hardwons short time back, I genuinely believed at one point that hardwon would die getting Calder bac, or the revelation of what happened to Callies mum. How many episodes do you guys think C3 will go for? I remember back in C1 it was around episode 70ish when Murph started talking about going to 100. Do you plan to do something like that or just let the campaign take it’s natural course with the amount of episodes it needs rather then a hard ceiling? *To everyone * In my last DnD session my party and I were in the Feywild and encountered a seemingly powerful fey being (Pleasantry Queen). I know very little about fey so when my character introduced himself and asked for their name the other players all audibly gasped. Turns out giving your name to a fey means they own me now?? I technically gave the fey my PC’s nickname, Theo, instead of his full name but it sounds like I may be f’ed. Is there any hope of Theo getting out of this??
