Hello everyone. Today I'm posting a video preview of the interactive animation/game I mentioned several times. I'll be doing everything in my power to share it with you guys next Wednesday. In other words: I'm giving myself three more days to finish this.

So what's left to do? To polish it. I wrote the code for the game separately from the rest. In effect, I wrote a template for this kind of game. The challenge I have for the next three days is therefore exporting assets(mostly animations) from Blender into Unreal, replacing place-holders and compiling the game. This is easier said than done but it's also why it's possible to finish an interactive scene in just three days. It's mostly filling in the blanks and building the environment now. It's a lot of work, but doable.

The main challenge is facial expression. The old system I wrote for lipsyncing(used in the old succubus animation) was primarily designed for cutscenes, meaning there's no easy way to make the girl stop talking. In an interactive scene like this you want her to stop talking dynamically. The thing is, to do that I need to rewrite the entire system. So I decided to stick with "hard-coded" facial animations for the time being, instead of dynamic lip-syncing. That won't take long though, we will have it in January.

This is using real-time ray tracing but it can be disabled. From my tests you will probably need at least 4GB of VRAM to run this at maximum settings.

Finishing this in three days is to me more symbolic than anything. If I waited until next Sunday it'd be easy to do it, but I want to do it before the end of the year. I'm too obsessed with perfection, I can fall into an endless loop of tweaking lights and proportions and whatnot, so I'm giving myself this deadline. Also, I really want to play it in full capacity myself.

Keep in mind the videos are highly compressed to fit here.
