I have to admit that this comic is from a recent personal experience for a card that cost way more than I'd like to admit. The funny part is once you realize that the card already sold and you missed the purchase, it just makes you want the card that much more!

How did you know how I shop online?! Have you been watching me?!

You can't just leave us in suspense. What card was it and how much was it before it got nabbed?

Tzu-Chi Hsu

That happened to me with the Final Fantasy collector box.

Hmmm... I'll just say it was a super clean Mox Diamond that I would have used for my Locust God deck. The price was pretty good, but what especially hurt is that I have $480 in store credit, so it really would have cost very little out of pocket.

Cardboard Crack

Ha, I always figure that if I do something, many other people are probably having similar experiences!

Cardboard Crack

It was impossible to buy those fast enough with the way the price was shooting up.

Recently: "Let’s buy this card for 40€ per card. It’s gonna be the new staple, so it will be even more expensive" The card 2 weeks later at 28€: 😅

Tzu-Chi Hsu

That was following the commander bans, wasn't it?

Skithiryx

Apparently a good part of the reason is that lots of Pokémon collectors have started buying boxes since FF came out. They are trying to do what has been done with Pokémon boxes, in that they are really over inflated priced sealed boxes.

Manuel Hoffmann

It was actually for a different card game, but since it’s so applicable to MtG as well, I threw it in here. :)
